Peggy bumps into Manda
Airs on Tuesday, March 10 2009 at 19:30 GMT on BBC One
Peggy's reeling after seeing her raunchy photo in the newspaper with the headline 'Walford's Poll Dancer'. Concerned about her campaign, she turns to Archie for advice, before heading out onto the Square dressed in a suit. While she's out, she bumps into Manda, who's on her way to meet Minty. Recognising her, Manda is delighted and hugs her before lifting her up in the air. Continuing her campaign trail, Peggy's handing out leaflets near the tube when she spies two girls who work at the massage parlour stubbing their cigarettes out on one of her posters. However, out of the corner of her eye, she's distracted by PC Kenny Morris who's sitting in a car taking photos of the parlour girls. With her mind in overdrive, Peggy enters a telephone box and makes a call to a journalist.
Meanwhile, despite Jack surprising her with a bottle of champagne, Ronnie's trying to discover whose credit card Roxy is using. Jack reassures her that he'll have a name for her in a few weeks, but she's determined to discover who the secret funds belong to. Her attentions turn to Archie, who's surprised to hear about Roxy's mysterious pot of cash. Talking to Roxy later, Archie's not impressed to learn that Jack is bankrolling her to help contribute towards Amy's upbringing. Roxy meets with Ronnie in R&R to talk things over. Ronnie warns her to be careful around Jack, but Roxy's insistent - she'll spend his money when and how she likes. Danielle bumps into Roxy in the café, where Danielle offers to babysit Amy whenever she needs help. A few hours later, Roxy calls Danielle asking if she'll babysit, before getting her glad rags on and heading out the door for a night on the town.
Later, the reporter Peggy called earlier in the day turns up at The Vic and Peggy makes a speech to the locals. They all make their way outside and down Bridge Street to the massage parlour. Unbeknown to Peggy, Ronnie and Roxy end up brawling near Gilly's following an argument over the credit card. As the catfight continues, PC Kenny Morris spots the carnage and arrests them, believing them to be prostitutes. Peggy and her entourage - including the journalist - arrive to see them being carted away.
Elsewhere, Shirley warns Minty about breaking Heather's heart again by his potential relationship with Manda; Manda confronts Minty about his strange behaviour around Heather; Jay continues to steal out-of-date food and tries to sell it; Billy's fuming that Jay's let himself into his flat and is sleeping in his bed; and Jane confides in Tanya that she thinks Masood has a crush on her.
