well tbh, they're gonna have the think of something. as cool as this could be, there's no real reason for her to come back to the square. 'to see Dot' is rather tenuous considering she's not spoken about either of them in years.

Very happy to hear this, wasn't fond of her in Hollyoaks what i saw of her but loved her when she was in Eastenders before :cheer: hope the don't make her nasty - shame Sonia isn't about she would have loved to have seen her.

I remember her dad Liam (I think that was his name) was a nasty piece of work... Love to see Clare back in it again... it was really sad when her mum died... my heart went out Nigel

Gemma Bissex was a good young actress. I'm reliably informed she has kept on track into the adult world. Debbie Bates (Nicola L) was a good actress too, can't remember whether she left of her own accord or not.

Glad she is going back to Eastenders rather than just going to another soap, she is a great actress, it will be interesting to see how she interacts with some of the older cast like Ian Beale and Dot.

Prepare for the return of an old face, as Gemma Bissix returns to Walford in the New Year to reprise her role as Clare Bates . Clare moved to the Square in 1993, with her mum Debbie Tyler . After Debbie's tragic death, she was adopted by her hapless stepdad Nigel Bates . They left Walford for Scotland in 1998.

Drama always followed Clare when she was in Walford, and her return promises no change. Clare comes back to stay with Dot , who is thrilled to see her. But why does Clare behave so strangely when she's asked about Nigel? You'll have to tune in to find out...

Gemma recently won Villain of the Year at the British Soap Awards for her performance as conniving Clare Cunningham in Hollyoaks.

oooooo, Cant wait to see her again, I cant remember her as this clare but it will be good to see her play a different kind of character
