Monday 9th May
Paige and John arrive in Geelong looking for clues about John’s identity. A visit to their initial contact proves fruitless, and although John has vague memories of the city nothing is concrete. They decide to stay on an extra night and the sexual tension between the two continues to bubble away. Eventually it seems like they might kiss only for Paige to pull up when she sees something… a photo of John with his arm around a young man.
When Paul discovers Steph is attending a party to celebrate Jimmy’s victory at a chess competition, he asks her to bring his grandson a present. Steph does so and suggests to Amy maybe it is time for Paul to be allowed to see Jimmy again. After some thought, Amy agrees and there is some tentative bonding between Jimmy, Paul and Amy. Terese is not pleased when she discovers this and gives Paul an ultimatum – cut off contact with Paul or lose the contract.
Piper is doing interviews for her vlog about the accident. Ned apologizes for his outburst the night before and gives a prepared interview where he talks about what he did on the day of the explosion. Piper and Tyler then discover an old voicemail message on Josh’s mobile phone from Doug, claiming that Ned was furious on the day of the explosion because he had discovered Brad was Citizen of the Year. Piper subtly questions Ned about this but Ned denies it. Tyler and Piper worry that maybe Ned could have caused the explosion. She decides to tell her father.
Tuesday 10th May
Piper and Tyler inform Brad about the discrepancies they discovered in Ned’s story about the day of the Lassiters disaster. Brad’s dubious—not believing Ned’s bitterness towards him could run that deep—until Lauren reveals Ned was the one who broadcast the embarrassing images at the Citizen of the Year awards. Brad wrestles with the realisation that Ned has been far from honest with him. Lauren urges him to confront Ned, and demand the truth about his whereabouts on the day of the explosion. But Brad can’t bring himself to accuse Ned. Piper is concerned by her dad’s lack of action, so she brings Terese up to speed. Terese finally convinces Brad to tell the police what they know.
Meanwhile, Lauren reaches out to Ned and gets the full truth—it’s damning in terms of Ned’s relationship with his father, but clears him of all involvement in the hotel blast. But it’s too late, as Ned is hauled to the police station. Ned quickly clears his name, but is gutted that his dad went to the police instead of asking for his side of the story. He declares that Brad is dead to him.
The near-kiss playing on her mind, Paige is ready to head home and regroup, but John is worked-up by how close they are to a breakthrough, and refuses to leave Geelong. The two clash, and go their separate ways. However Paige can’t let John walk out of her life, and returns to him with a new plan. She gets in touch with Bailey, who uses his impressive I.T. skills to identify the guy in the picture with John. His name’s Dustin. Hopes rising, Paige and John contact Dustin and discover he lives in Melbourne. As their excitement piques, John brings up their romantic tension, clearly eager to act on it. But Paige is now reluctant to do so—at least until they know more about him. They pack up and prepare to return home, ready to meet Dustin, and hoping to uncover the mystery of who John is, once and for all.
Amy wrestles with Terese’s ultimatum, and advice from Sonya sees her leaning towards accepting the contract and cutting off Paul. She goes to see her dad, and is stunned when Paul selflessly urges her to go ahead and cut him off—he’d rather that than see her and Jimmy suffer on his account. Amy’s touched by his willingness to sacrifice his own happiness. So she does the opposite, rejecting Terese’s proposal. She returns to Paul, letting him know that, even though he may have made terrible mistakes, she still needs him in her life.
Wednesday 11th May
The tension continues to simmer between Ben and Angus over the stolen money. Aware that all is not well – if not the reason why – Susan asks Ben to look out for Angus on his first day at Erinsborough High. Piper sees Ben’s unhappy, and he shares that Angus stole his share of Tom Quill’s money. Piper challenges him to take it back, and the boys get into a scuffle when Ben is busted trying to break into Angus’s locker. Susan breaks it up, and Xanthe is excited when Angus covers, saying they were fighting over her. Susan withholds judgement but is further concerned when she discovers lighting fluid and matches in Ben’s locker. Convinced Angus has set him up, Ben lands a punch on him.
Susan steps in, demanding Ben to explain himself. But how can he tell her about the stolen money?
Mark learns that John and Paige are arranging to meet with the mystery man – Dustin – from John’s past. Clocking John and Paige’s growing closeness, Mark seeks Paige out and warns her to step back until she knows for sure who she’s dealing with. Paige tells Mark to butt out, but we see that his warning has given her pause. Her unease deepens when Dustin agrees to meet John, only to panic on seeing Mark in his police uniform. Dustin sprints off, Mark in pursuit. Paige and John are anxious now. Why did Dustin run – what does he have to hide – and what does that say about who John is?
Brad’s attempt to bridge the rift between him and Ned backfires. Ned announces that he’s leaving Erinsborough and resists both Lauren and Piper’s pleas for him to stay. Lauren takes matters into her own hands and tells Ned the truth about Beth – that she tried to keep a young Ned and Brad apart. Terese backs her up, and Ned tells Brad that he’ll stay after all. Brad is hopeful of a new start. He has no idea that Ned has sworn to protect the rest of the family – and Lauren – from his father. Watch this space.

MayJohn is rattled by Dustin running off at the sight of Mark, and despite Paige reassuring him that it doesn’t mean he’s in trouble with the law, John isn’t convinced. Mark adds fuel to the fire, also suspecting there is something dodgy going on. When Paige discovers Dustin’s cut off all contact, John’s forced to re-evaluate who he is and whether staying in Erinsborough is for the best. He makes the impulsive decision to leave, but Paige tracks him down and with an impassioned plea, begs him to stay. She doesn’t care who he was, it’s who he is now that’s important and he has the opportunity to start with a clean slate. Caught up in the moment, John agrees to stay.
Shocked by Ben’s actions against Angus, Susan tries to get Angus to open up and, for a moment, his hurt about his mother abandoning him shows through. Torn by her promise to Sarah, Susan asks Karl to try and find the source of Angus’s issues and Karl discovers he bears emotional scars from a home that has lacked parental guidance and stability. The Kennedys vow to find some way to smooth things between the boys, and give Angus the support he sorely needs.Xanthe misunderstands the cause of Angus and Ben’s fight, thinking they were arguing over her. She’s thrilled, and takes the opportunity to spend time with Ben, who’s suspended from school for the afternoon. Xanthe thinks they are drawing closer, but when Ben reveals the real reason for the fight – Angus stealing Tom’s money – Xanthe is humiliated. She’s annoyed at Angus, too, and confronts him about the stolen money. He comes up with a convincing story about why he acts out, and Xanthe soon warms to his charms. Discovering how stressed Xanthe is about sitting her English exam, Angus sets off a fire alarm so she can get out of it, winning Xanthe’s approval.
Sheila hears of Aaron’s new business venture and is surprised to discover Nate is bankrolling what is effectively an unknown entity. Nate admits to Sheila that he’s trying to make up for being a bad boyfriend and, worried about the two, Sheila tells Aaron. Aaron’s mortified and vows to give back the money, but Sheila urges him to do his best to make the business a success instead. But after a knock back, Aaron is disheartened, until he receives a call about a new client. Torn, he informs Nate if he snares the client, it will put his business on the map. Who is this mysterious new client?
Friday 13th May
On learning that Paul wants Aaron to help clear his name, Aaron’s sceptical. Paul’s already been charged - this is way outside Aaron’s capacity as a brand manager. Paul clarifies: he’s been tried and convicted by public opinion and wants a platform to present his case, which is exactly what Aaron can provide. Tempted, Aaron seeks advice from Sheila, who counsels Aaron to think carefully about linking his fledgling business to the likes of Paul. Discouraged, Aaron bemoans to Nate that he can’t land a single paying client; he’ll have to refund Nate his investment and cut his losses. When Nate refuses, encouraging Aaron to persevere, Aaron decides to accept Paul’s challenge – on condition it’s strictly above board. With the mainstream media outlets refusing to touch Paul’s story due to legal restrictions, Aaron resolves to take it online. And what better blogger to take Paul’s message to the world than the very person whose brother and grandfather Paul is alleged to have killed – Piper Willis? At first Paul demurs out of consideration for Piper and Terese, but Aaron works hard to convince both him and Piper that this is the best way forward for them both. Piper finally consents and the interview begins.
Thanks to Angus’s fire alarm stunt the students are evacuated and the exam is postponed. Shocked by Angus’s brazenness, Xanthe starts to realise he may be worse than she thought – has he even given Ben’s share of hers and Ben’s money back? It’s the first Angus has heard of Xanthe’s connection with the cash, and asks her to spill.
Meanwhile Ben grumbles to Piper and Tyler about Xanthe’s annoying ways until they call him on it – could he be a tad hung up on her? Ben admits Xanthe can be cool, but way too distracting. Piper challenges Ben to ask Xanthe out. Ben responds by buying tickets to a girl-band but as he’s asking her out, Angus rocks up to Xanthe with tickets for the same gig. Pipped at the post, Ben disparages Xanthe’s choice, needling her to accuse Ben of playing dirty by taunting Angus about his mother’s neglect. Post-gig, Angus lays on the charm and insecure Xanthe melts into his kiss.
Meanwhile Susan, suspicious about the timing of the fire alarm (just before the exam), has checked with Angus’s previous schools and found a pattern of disruptive behaviour. While she can’t prove he did it, she lets him know in no uncertain terms that she’s onto him.
Meanwhile, as Toadie and Sonya get ready for Sonya’s inter-council conference in Brisbane Toadie gets a disturbing text message. Steph notices and he reveals to her that a person he’s trying to protect Sonya from is in town today and wants to meet up.
Seeing his chance to tackle the issue once and for all while Sonya’s away, Toadie apologises - an old case has re-emerged and he has to bail out of the conference. Sonya’s much put out and, as she confides to Susan, feeling increasingly excluded by Toadie and Steph’s secret band of two. With Sonya gone, it’s not until late that night that a wind-blown, dissolute-looking stranger turns up on the doorstep. Toadie opens the door. Come in, Walter.
