EastEnders has revealed that Nancy Carter has returned to Walford to undergo voluntary sterilisation.

Viewers have been drip-fed hints throughout the past few weeks, with Nancy revealing she's divorcing husband Tamwar and then half-sister Frankie spotting her making a secret hospital visit.

In Thursday's (April 29) episode, Linda (Kellie Bright) told Nancy (Maddy Hill) that she'd found the syringe and the CBD oil in her coat pocket the previous night.

Nancy then finally revealed the truth about all of her secretive behaviour after Linda worried that her daughter was following in her path of addiction.

"You don't need to worry. I promise you I'm not a drug addict," Nancy insisted.

Nancy explained that she was taking the CBD to control her seizures, but she'd visited the hospital in order to get sterilised.

"I'm choosing to be sterilised because I don't want to have kids," she explained.

The twist is particularly interesting because EastEnders has already announced that Linda Carter will begin to expect that she's actually pregnant during next week's episode.

EastEnders started dropping Easter eggs about Linda's pregnancy a few weeks ago when the show revisited her pregnancy craving for apples and saw her admit she was having mood-swings.

Kellie Bright announced back in March that she's expecting her third child with husband Paul Stoker, after undergoing IVF.

Speaking about her IVF journey, she told OK!: "I want to be open and honest about this, because I think it's important for younger women to understand.

"It's important for women to know that, yes, you can have children in your forties and, yes, you can be lucky and do it naturally. But for a lot of us it doesn't work that way, so I wouldn't suggest leaving it late by choice."
