Nadine Coyle's bid to launch her solo career is preventing Girls Aloud from recording new material.
According to bandmate Kimberley Walsh, 24-year-old Coyle's Hollywood plans are delaying their efforts to re-group and get back in the studio.
Walsh, 28, is desperate to get the rest of her pals back together to work on a 'mature' comeback.
Kimberley Walsh, pictured left yesterday after being named as the red carpet host for this month's Baftas, says Nadine Coyle is stalling Girls Aloud's comeback
After the band took a break last year, they signed a new deal which ties them to a further three albums.
Kimberley, who will be reporting from the red carpet at this month's Baftas, told the Metro newspaper: 'I miss the girls. The plan is... well, basically Nadine needs to come over from LA.
'We need to chat and book it in because there are five people's diaries to work around, rather than just one.'
She denied reports that the group were splitting, following the success of Cheryl Cole's solo success, adding: 'We signed up for three albums before we took the break.

'We always have to take it up a level and bring out new and exciting stuff.'
Speaking about reporting duties for the Baftas, she said she had her fingers crossed that she'd manage to pull it off.
But she admitted a face-to-face interview with George Clooney might leave her weak at the knees.
Kimberley, who has been dating long-term boyfriend Justin Scott for five years, added: 'I'm hoping I can hold it down. If George is there I might not manage it.'
The singer has already had experience of presenting, hosting the live coverage for the X Factor final last year from winner Joe McEldery's Newcastle hometown.
She also helped Cheryl pick her final six contestants in X Factor 2008, which was won by her act Alexandra Burke.
Kimberley Walsh will present the Sony Ericsson and Orange Bafta Show on MTV at 6.30pm on February 22.

Nadine Coyle is frustrating her Girls Aloud bandmates with her solo album plans.
The 24-year-old singer – who is currently working on her debut LP in Los Angeles – has still not set a release date for her record, which was originally scheduled for February, which is causing problems for Girls Aloud who want to start working together again this year.
A source told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "The girls are getting frustrated waiting around to see what she is planning to do. Nadine has been working so long on this album that it's strange there isn't even a date pencilled in for its release. They'd originally scheduled it for early 2010. But there is no finished product as yet and she is still writing.
"If Nadine's album isn't released by the end of this year, she will only be able to tour by the end of next year, which is when the others were hoping to bring out another Girls Aloud album. Everything is in limbo at the moment."
Nadine's bandmates - Kimberley Walsh, Nicola Roberts, Cheryl Cole and Sarah Harding - recently revealed they have hardly heard from the singer since she's been in the US.
Nicola – who, along with the other girls, agreed to take a 12-month break to work on individual projects – said: "If I'm really honest, we haven't spoken to Nadine since September. None of us have heard from her... but there is no feud."
Despite her absence, the girls are still keen for Nadine to stay in the group.
The source added: "There is no way Nadine is going to leave the band – despite the ill feeling... it wouldn't be in her interests to quit."
Shouldn't the manager or record company be stepping in. Nadine or any of the other girls are in a position to make decisions on when they release albums, that is up to the record company. They are contracted to release a number of albums and they have to honor that contract. The manager and record company should be telling Nadine to get her butt back into the studio with the band or boot her out.
their suposed to honour their contract but with them not recording any material they will able to pull out of the band
In September 2010, Coyle announced the release of her debut album Insatiable on 8 November. Coyle worked with a number of famous songwriters and producers during recording sessions, such as Desmond Child, Guy Chambers, Mike Elizondo, Steve Booker, Toby Gad, and Tony Kanal. According to an interview with Booker, Coyle had worked on song ideas using GarageBand which she then presented to Booker in England to work on together further. The producer said, "She was singing her songs to loops, and then I took the loops out and rewrote the music from scratch to her ideas." He described her songs as "very pop". Booker also worked on songs to show off Coyle's vocals: "Because she’s got such a belting voice, I tried a couple of things where she could really belt," he said. Coyle has also worked with Lucie Silvas, Matchbox Twenty's Kyle Cook, William Orbit, and Tiesto. The album will be released on the 8th November.
The album was preceded by the release of her debut single, the title track "Insatiable".

Nadine Coyle has announced her engagement to Jason Bell.
The singer confirmed the news during an interview with Scott Mills on Radio 1, where she also premiered her new single 'Insatiable'.
Asked by Mills if she is formally engaged to the American footballer, she said: "Yes, last week. I just got back from London and was in my PJs."
The Girls Aloud star went on to say that she was shocked by the proposal, admitting that she would have manicured her nails and blow-dried her hair if she had been expecting the question.
She also told of how Bell wasn't able to get down on one knee because of his "dodgy knees", and described their relationship as "really, really nice" and "very different".
