Good employers will!
But there are legal requirements to grant
interviews to those with disability/ certain
illnesses. Also to withholding a position
from someone purely on those grounds
and open to challenge. So those less good
will also-ungraciously.
Re Game Players- I think most of those
who have done it for some time have now
been "dealt with".
My point was really about people who have
had a job for some time and little sick absence
- then had an illness
inc a mental illness that has put them outside
limits. Having been monitored quite soon after
absence began-
Then due to not being able to fully comply
with return to work arrangements even tho
in a small way - have found dismissal proceedings
on grounds of ineffiency commenced.
Unless they can rectify things very quickly and
despite union& legal assistance have not been
stop this.
I mentioned large employers- usually personnel
matters are decided nationally and local managers
are mouth-pieces and letter-issuers for the
"procedures". Not able to make small judgment
decisions. I agree with there being rules but.....
Financial decisions by national/govt bodies are taken
on what will be cheapest this budget year not what
is better long-term.
People are now more aware of procedures- this puts
a stress on them- also a lesser one on those not ill
but who can see what could happen to them if they
were.
It always good to hear of someone doing the right
thing without legal pressure. Long may you do so!
Finally I havent written this because of treatment
of myself or friends/ family but just based on
changes in the workplace in hard times!
