Downton Abbey cast members have poked fun at Benedict Cumberbatch on Twitter for describing their show as "f**king atrocious".
Cumberbatch made the comments during an interview with Reader's Digest, in which he was promoting rival BBC period drama Parade's End.
"We're living in a culture now that's revering, or having a nostalgia trip with, the beginning of the 1900s," he was reported as saying.
"Although Downton traded a lot on the sentiment in the last series... but we won't talk about that series because it was, in my opinion, f**king atrocious."
Hugh Bonneville, Dan Stevens and Brendan Coyle have now referenced the Sherlock actor's put-down of their ITV programme by simultaneously changing their profile pictures to the cover of the Reader's Digest issue containing his quotes.

First-look images and trailers of Downton Abbey's third series have been released in the run-up to its UK launch this autumn. The show will air in the US from January 6.

Sounds like the battle of the costume dramas has begun.

Downton Abbey male stars have joked that their period underpants were difficult to wear.
They were reportedly banned from wearing modern underwear during a filmed cricket match in case they showed through on screen.
Stars including Dan Stevens and Hugh Bonneville struggled to remain focused during filming while wearing the baggy garments, leading to several rude jokes.
David Robb - who plays Dr Clarkson on the period drama - told The Sun: "The bosses reckoned viewers might be able to see our Calvin Kleins, so we had to wear these big pants.
"But they don't really contain a chap - you just flop and dangle around all over the place - and the boys' jokes were flying, as you can imagine.
"I don't think the viewers will really be able to see anything but I'm not sure."
The cricket match between the house and the village, will feature as part of the drama's third season finale.
Robb added: "The cricket match was hilarious. We didn't really know what we were doing, but had great fun."
Downton Abbey's third series will air in the autumn on ITV1 in the UK. It will air in the US on PBS on January 6, 2013.

The relative newlyweds Lady Sybil and Bransonare back at Downton in Season 3, which doesn’t sit well with the onetime chauffeur’s former colleagues. “When they come back from Ireland, where does he belong?” muses series creator Julian Fellowes. “It’s difficult for him because here are all these people he worked with and now they’re bending over and serving him. It’s a difficult journey he has to make.”
