Tamzin Outhwaite has said that she is unlikely to return to her role as Melanie Owen in EastEnders.
The actress, who is currently appearing in Sweet Charity in the West End, left the BBC One soap in 2002.
Speaking about the possibility of heading back to Albert Square, she told DS: "People always ask me, but I've never been asked! It looks like I'm turning it down on a yearly basis, but I'm not.
"They've never asked me! So they don't want me back for one and I don't have any family left on the show. There's nobody on the Square she knows, I don't even think any of Mel's friends are still in it... I could walk down the market and be an extra, I suppose!"
She added: "There's lots of other stuff I would like to do, but it would be great to just make a living out of doing what I'm doing right now with Sweet Charity and this new show Don't Stop Believing."
Outhwaite will appear as a judge on reality show Don't Stop Believing, which launches on Sunday at 7pm on Five.
EastEnders star Samantha Womack has described Ronnie Mitchell as a "tragic heroine".
The actress told What's On TV that she expects things to continue to go wrong for her character.
"Ronnie's happier with Jack (Scott Maslen) in her life. He's the only one she's really opened up to. They're soulmates," she said.
"To marry Jack and have his kids is what Ronnie's always wanted. But she's a character who seems destined never to be happy. She's a tragic heroine.
"So, yes, the wedding could all go wrong..."
I'd really like Ronnie to find happiness with Jack, although I do understand why the writers want her to be tragic.
Bird pooing on you is supposed to be lucky. :D
EastEnders star Himesh Patel has revealed that he is glad to be sharing more scenes with his screen brother Marc Elliott.
Speaking on This Morning, the actor praised forthcoming episodes which see his character Tamwar Masood supporting Elliott's alter ego Syed while the rest of the caterer's family struggle to accept his sexuality.
Patel explained: "That's been lovely to play because I get on with Marc really well and we were just looking forward to getting to do some stuff together, because mainly it was him and Amira, and Tamwar was off doing his own sort of thing.
"Now that they've put Tamwar in a position where he's the only real family member that Syed has left, it's great stuff."
Discussing the future of Syed's storyline, he said: "We've reached a new chapter in the story. When we last saw Syed, he thought he could cure himself of being gay, which is a bit silly really, but he was put in a position where he was completely desperate and he thought that what he was feeling wasn't right.
"But I think over the next few episodes, we're going to see him just come to terms with the fact that this is his life and there's nothing wrong with being Muslim and being gay."
Patel has previously described Syed's plot as "a really, really great step in the right direction".
Former EastEnders star Mohammed George has accepted libel damages over a tabloid report which claimed that he had to be removed from the soap's 25th anniversary party.
George, who played Gus Smith in the BBC show, took legal action against Express Newspapers after the allegation was printed in the Daily Star Sunday earlier this year.
The article in question suggested that the actor was "turfed out" from the birthday bash by security guards after he arrived drunk and was aggressive towards BBC staff.
However, George's counsel Lucy Moorman told the High Court today that the newspaper now accepted the claims were "entirely untrue".
PA quotes Moorman as saying: "In particular, the defendant accepts that Mr George had not been drinking alcohol when he arrived at the party so he was not drunk, that he was not aggressive or threatening to anyone and that, although he left the party early, he did not have to be forcibly ejected."
Express Newspapers has apologised over the matter and agreed to pay George's legal costs along with undisclosed damages.
The BBC has responded to complaints from EastEnders viewers unhappy with the treatment of the Qu'ran in recent episodes.
In a statement, the corporation confirmed that viewers have complained about the way Syed Masood (Marc Elliott) had slammed down the Qu'ran.
"As regular viewers will know, Syed has been struggling to come to terms with his sexuality for some time now," the BBC said.
"Desperate not to lose his family, Syed is trying to suppress his homosexuality and has vowed to read and learn from the Qu'ran in an attempt to reconnect with his Muslim faith, hoping that this will help him in his quest.
"Feeling unable to reconcile his feelings for another man with his religious beliefs, Syed slams down the Qu'ran in frustration."
The statement added: "It was not intended to be a disrespectful act, rather a totally spontaneous one, symbolic of Syed's utter confusion and frustration at what feels like an impossible situation.
"It wasn't our intention to cause any offence."
Last week, the BBC dismissed complaints that an ongoing EastEnders storyline featuring Lucas Johnson (Don Gilet) is offensive to Christians.
