Kim, once you get to uni nobody cares what A levels you got. Work hard enough to get the grades for uni but don't stress over it. And if your teachers put pressure on you to get 85%, take it with a pinch of salt. They may want the best for you but there's a line that has to be drawn somewhere.
You don't have to satisfy anybody but yourself. Your teachers and family aren't going to hold it against you for the rest of your life if you get a B instead of an A. After a few hours, they won't really care.
I really agree with abigail, at the end of the day as long as you meet what a uni wants, thats all that matters
good luck kim, abbie and stars, im sure youll all do great :)
I should really have looked at the specification for history earlier. Could have saved myself some revision on topics I didn't need to revise.
Surprisingly four main topics questions are going to be asked are on Versailles, Appeasement, Munich crisis and to the outbreak of wars. Emphasis on 1930s, specifically 1938-9 rather than 1920s. Obviously this is all including opposition, support, pacts, agreements, guarantees...
I am now currently on wikipedia researching the six specific events e.g. Stresa Front; they list. Revision is going so slow today...
You probably already know this but don't rely on wiki for accuracy. And don't cite it in your coursework.
Oh yeah I know, I've got a text book to check, its good but not specifically for the Edexcel course so its a bit lacking in detail in places for what I need.
I don't think I used Wikipedia in my coursework..
Had my biology unit 1 resit this afternoon
It went quite well, I felt really good about the paper I was on the last questions 30 mins into the exam but I had left the calculation questions till last and had to go back to them
Good to hear :D
Sampling testing and processing today.
Two five mark questions I had no idea what to do so I made it up. Think all of the calculations but one were ok. The third section of the paper was awful, I know they do something you don't have to know but Radon. Seriously. To get rid of radon gases you fumigate a house, right? :rotfl: Dear me. I tried my best.
Bit hit and miss that paper. Some bits I answered well, some I didn't have a clue. Overall I don't think I failed it spectacularly. I hope. ;) Yay for coursework.
I always do that with calculations, I get confused and not sure what to do so I make it up :p
Had my last one this afternoon. I don't know what to think about how it went to be honest. I remembered an example when I got out of the exam which isn't good :(
Lucky you!
I still have 8 to go!
Ouch!
One week to go. Not looking to next week though 3 exams in 4 days and all at 8.30 am. Bleh.
I still have 3 weeks to go
well 2 and a half I think
Aww..All be worth it hopefully! :D
You should get something for a treat at the end. I have 6 new Disney videos and soon will have Sims 3. Yes I am a total child. :p I also have two books and a bar of chocolate. And a shopping trip planned. Its all motivation to revise!
I second that. You need a big reward at the end of it that has absolutely nothing to do with education.
I went to Florida three days after my last exam.
Kasple, are you in your last year of A levels?
Yeah I am. :D
Three down, seven to go and I cant wait for it to be over, my exam today (chemistry resit) went ok but I'm kind of dreading maths c4 on friday
So you, Abbie, Lea and Dave will be going to uni in a few months. Anyone else planning to go?
Ugh. A Levels. They shoudl be banned :(.. I'm seriously not worried for them liek I should be.
We have our ball a few days after my last exma.. I don't even want to go.. I'd much prefer a wild night out on the town haha
I withdrew my application... I'm going to college instead hopefully.
Theres loads of us going to uni this time round
Maybe they are trying to get us to arrive on time.
We had this new rule, you had to take the labels off your water bottles. Does anyone else have that?
That's been in at my school for a while, at least since I did my first set of science modules in Year 10. I don't know if it was in when I did my SATs, but I remember being allowed a pencil case that wasn't see through back then. Or do the rules only apply to GCSE upwards?
I think the water bottle rule comes from JCQ guidelines or something.
We didn't have it last year...hmm..
I remember my tutor telling me about someone who had tried to cheat once by etching on the water bottle but once they had filled it up they couldn't see it properly because of the water.
Yes I think so.
All the ologys lol.
I'm going to redo my Biology because I know I can do well.. I just didn't concentrate at the beginning and I lost it there.
Then also Sociology, Psychology and ICT. :)
We've had the water bottle thing for ages... not that anyone listens anymore lol
I've never heard of the water bottle thing. We had see through pencil cases and no calculator lids (everyone ignored that though) and the other usual suspects.
What exam board and spec are you doing for physics?
Our morning exams are at 9:30 and afternoon at 13:30
