Is this really true?
CHARLOTTE Church and fiancé Gavin Henson are to SPLIT after five years together, the News of the World can reveal today.
The sensational break-up comes just SIX WEEKS after they announced their ENGAGEMENT in a glossy magazine buy-up.
Charlotte and Gavin in happier times
The 24-year-old Over the Rainbow judge and Wales rugby star Gavin, 28, have already agreed the details of their separation announcement.
Gavin has told friends it is over and is expected to move out of their £1.2 million home in Wales while singer Charlotte stays there with their children, Ruby, two, and one-year-old Dexter.
A source revealed that Gavin is expected to find a new place nearby so he can visit regularly. Nobody else is believed to be involved in the decision to end the relationship.
Last night an insider told the News of the World: "It is an incredibly sad state of affairs. Both Gavin and Charlotte are deeply distraught.
"But after a lot of soul-searching, they realised this is the best course of action for them and the children. It was a mutual decision.
"To the outside world they were a golden couple. The truth is, they had the same insecurities as anyone else. Charlotte is very headstrong.
"In the end, Gav found it too much. He was blaming her for his rugby career stalling. She hated him going out drinking with mates."
The source revealed that the relationship reached a crisis point when Gavin flew off to Norway in March to film celebrity reality show 71 Degrees North. "At the time Charlotte was preparing her big comeback as a judge on BBC1's Over the Rainbow. She really needed him at home," said the insider.
When he returned, rows exploded. "In the end Gav was taking refuge on their yacht in Swansea because they were quarrelling too much in front of the kids," added our source.
"Now Charlotte is throwing herself into re-launching her pop career. She is in the studio working on a new album, and will be spending a lot more time in London. And Gav just wants to get his rugby boots back on.
"One thing they do still share together is complete devotion to their two children. That won't change at all - and Gav will continue to play a very active role in their lives.
"He is devastated about the break-up, especially because of the impact on the two little ones."
Our story will stun fans of the couple, jointly worth £11million, who were looking forward to a showbiz wedding after the pair announced their engagement on April 20 in OK! magazine - despite the rows.
Henson flew Charlotte in a helicopter from their 20-acre home in Saint Brides Major, Mid Glamorgan, to the a hotel in Truro, Cornwall, to pop the question.
Then he got down on one knee and presented the Voice of an Angel singer with a two-carat, heart-shaped diamond ring for her 24th birthday on February 21.
Charlotte told the magazine how he popped the question during a walk in Truro: "He started saying, 'We've been together five years, we've had good times and hard times but it's mostly been good. I think we are meant to be together for the rest of our lives'.
"I was a bit confused. He never says anything like that. Then he went down on one knee and said, 'Will you marry me?' I was absolutely joyous. I was so pleased."
In the interview Charlotte also revealed: "I think we may as well get married soon - there's no point hanging around, we'll probably have about 100 people."
The pair were planning a quick wedding at an island retreat. And Gavin admitted he was a bag of nerves as he proposed.
He said: "I was nervous about doing the speech beforehand. It's time to get married, I want us to be a family and we have different names at the moment. Me, Ruby and Dexter are Henson and Charlotte is Church. It feels right."
Gavin also told how he softened her up for the proposal by taking her out on a drinking binge the night before.
"When she's hungover and feeling a bit sketchy she's a lot more touchy-feely and lovey so I thought she'll definitely say yes then." Of her ring, which Gavin bought during a family holiday in Dubai in January, Charlotte said: "It's just perfect.

"I'd always said I wanted a heart-shaped diamond and the boy did good. Fair do's to you, Henson."
Both said they wanted more children. "As many as possible really - at least four," said Gavin. Charlotte chipped in: "I definitely want more. I loved being pregnant."
But now it emerges that the couple were already in crisis even as they spoke and posed for magazine. A friend said: "In the pictures their smiles look really awkward. It just didn't look right."
Their five-year relationship has been rocked by repeated bust-ups. And they have grown further apart in recent months as Charlotte mounted a successful showbiz comeback by losing FOUR STONE and appearing as a judge on Andrew Lloyd Webber's BBC1 talent show.
She loved being back in the limelight - and returned to the crazy partying of her teenage years.
But signs of the distress bubbling beneath the surface emerged on May 1 when she was pictured slumped and shoeless in a bar in Shoreditch, East London, after sinking champagne on a night out without Gavin.
She was so smashed she ended up snogging a female friend and had to be supported when she left in the early hours. An onlooker said: "Charlotte arrived at 1.30am with a group of male and female pals. She was already incapable of walking and had to be held up. Her pals opened some champagne and Charlotte carried on drinking on the sofa. She was out of it. She kept snogging her female pal. It wasn't long before she took off her shoes and laid down.
"She was half-asleep and kept slipping off the sofa. After an hour she got up and wandered off.
"She was alone on the top of the stairs with her head in her hands as we were leaving.
"One of her friends pulled her downstairs, bundling her in a taxi."
On May 19, Gavin flew out to LA for a lads holiday. He is still believed to be there.
Drink has been regularly at the root of the couple's arguments. Charlotte once said: "We do argue more when we've had a drink. We have a good time and then we have a couple too many and you lose your perspective.
"It's silly but we can't drink a bottle of wine and go home at midnight. We're not really those kind of drinkers." Adding stress to the volatile chemistry between the two were Gavin's rugby problems.
The injury-plagued centre amassed 31 international rugby caps, plus one for the British and Irish Lions, before taking unpaid indefinite leave from the game more than a year ago.
He told last month how the pressures of fatherhood also played a part in his decision to step back from rugby. "I wanted to concentrate on being a good father. I thought I needed to make this work first," he said. "I hadn't even been missing rugby until lately."
Now they must sort out the aftermath of their split. Church and Henson's £11million fortune earned them 16th place on Britain's wealthiest young people section of the latest Sunday Times Rich List.
But as they had yet to marry, Henson is not entitled to any assets that are not jointly owned, according to family law expert Anne-Marie Hutchinson. She said: "As co-habitees, if they jointly own assets they would be divided as they are held - either 50-50 or whatever."
It means they will have to split the value of their home and the cost of the £800,000 eight-berth yacht they bought last year.
CHARLOTTE CHURCH and GAVIN HENSON split after she accused him of getting close to actress SUSIE AMY, a pal claimed yesterday.
The singer was furious when they became pals while trekking across Norway for new reality TV show 71 Degrees North.
Telly trek ... Susie Amy
The friend said: "Charlotte thought Gavin and Susie had become close. She wanted him at home with her while she launched her TV comeback on Over The Rainbow - and him being away put a strain on their relationship."
The mum of Footballers' Wives star Susie, 29 - who once dated Hotel Babylon star MAX BEESLEY - yesterday said there was "no link" between her and injured rugby ace Gavin, 28.
Susie's spokesman added: "She has a boyfriend and is very happy."
Gavin and Charlotte, 24 - who have had a series of rows in recent months including one at a London hotel - were in crisis talks last night.
The discussions came just six weeks after the couple announced their engagement.
Charlotte told last month how Gavin popped the question the day after her birthday in Cornwall.
She said: "He started saying, 'We've been together five years, we've had good times and hard times but it's mostly been good. I think we are meant to be together for the rest of our lives'.
"Then he went down on one knee and said, 'Will you marry me?' I was absolutely joyous. I was so pleased."
She added at the time: "I think we may as well get married soon - there's no point hanging around, we'll probably have about 100 people."
It is now thought Charlotte will keep their £1.2million mansion in the Vale of Glamorgan, South Wales, and Gavin will live nearby so he can visit their kids Ruby, two, and Dexter, one.
But one source claimed there may be a reconciliation.
Another insider said the split had been a joint decision and added: "They're both distraught."
Charlotte, who recently lost 4st, was pictured slumped in a bar on a night out with pals in Shoreditch, East London, earlier this month. Gavin returned last week from a lads' holiday in Los Angeles.
The couple refused to comment last night and there was no answer at their family home.
