Aww good luck Davey, I'm sure you'll be fine :)
I've just been doing Maths coursework, and its so hard! Has anybody done the statistics coursework?
hiya
is anyones school doing the new science course where you take the exams in yr 10 and if so do you have your results back yet as we took 2 in november and i got my results today and i am not happy lol i got a b and c and at least wanted 2 b's and is it possable for me to still get an a overall now or not
also is anyone who takes child care doing their gcse a year early as we are so we now have to cram in a year and a halfs work in 6 months :( im never gonna remeber all of it
Catch me on msn or mysapce or whatever -i'll give you a hand, i love algebra :p!
Maths Statistics coursework is the one i am doing now, nearly finished. Its horrible, the concept sounds easy - Hypothesis, graphs, explain, compare done, finito. Reality is alot harder :rotfl:
Sam Nixon don't worry, if your doing Modules like it sounds like, getting a B and C ain't the end of it all, that is really good, just keep working on it and revising and stuff and you'll do fine - and yes it is still possible to get an A overall, the modules are only worth a few % each, if you just keep doing well, do your coursework to a high standard and do well in the end exam you do fine. My modules average grade is a D, my last 2 results were a B and a C i have 2/3 left and i am still predicted a B :)
i have no idea what im doing abbie i only know the tests we have already done will actually count and i think each of the tests are 5% of it
and there is no channce of me gettting an a or a* in one of the tests lol i hate science
and kim you did really well in the tests and after yr 10 are you getting to choose whether you want to do forensic sciene, sport science or some other choices cant remeber what they are
I hated science module tests as i always got E and Us, but got C C in the final exam so basically anything is possible. Coursework helps alot plus in my science on two results were discarded as like Bad ones, i dont know whether that still happens but i assume it does.
I'm really not sure on that one. In our option booklet it said we had to do a certain Science GCSE and then we got to choose the other one, but no one has mentioned any choice yet. We have been told the exams are different and that we have to do an ISA next year to put towards it, even though we have done one and are in the middle of another one. Someone mentioned we just get a different book, (we do a whole GCSE this year and another one next year,) but I hope we do get to choose, then I will stay away from Physics as I will be lucky to get B's in those modules.
I am doing the new science course (I go to the same school as Samantha Nixon), and as I've mentioned before we only got told about it something like the week before, so I didn't get a chance to do any revision at all.
Some teachers said it was worth 25%, others said 5%! So I had to get the teacher to explain the course to me properly, and don't forget, Sam, that if you're happy with all of your other science results, you can re-sit the two we've just done, anyway.
If I get the best that I'm capable of in the other tests, I think I'll re-sit the two that we've already done, since I was only 3 marks in one and 5 marks in the other away from the next grade up! :(
The modules are 12.5% each. The Science Course that the current year 11's are doing is the one where each module carries 5%, because they have a terminal exam at the end of it. We have 6 modules totalling 75% and the other 25 an ISA, so that's why a teacher would have said 25, because two modules were covered. My Chemistry teacher said that we don't choose whether we resit, they do. I got majorly muddled with the grid when I was doing the Chemistry one, so if I hadn't of got messed up, I think I could have got A*, which is annoying, 'cause I don't think I'll ever get to resit. It's 5 marks between each boundary, so that's annoying.
hopefully my teacher will choose to let me resit again then and i liked having the grid things as i didnt really know any of the answers, so least i could guess them and have a 1 out of 4 chances of getting it right
You got a 6 in your SAT, so unless you didn't do too well on your CATs, they will at least let you resit the one you got a C in, 'cause if you don't get a B it will look bad on them.
when would we have done out CAT's lol cant remeber them
i think whether you get to choose if you resit or not depends on the school. my school for alevel let us choose if we wanted to resit our exams but my sis school wont let them. therefore even though at kims school the teachers choose, samantha at your school it might work differently so you should ask your teacher about it :)
I think its because the school has to pay for them. You could probably re-sit outside of your school, no problem, and pay the cost of the exam. But your school might not want to pay for everyone to resit, because it means they wont be able to spend the money on other things. And if you got a good grade (Which you did!) then they might not see the point in spending their money on resitting you, when they could spend it on other things...
My school makes you pay half of it, if you want to resit. And thats with any exam.
Years 7 and 9. You might not know though, because they're not supposed to tell you what you got; it goes with other test scores and your predicted grade is an average. I thought it was the new syllabus that was doing it, and not my school as we have been told we choose our own resits in Maths. If it is the money thing, I wish they could just tell you straight "You can resit but you have to pay £....,' however much it is.
oh i remember doing them in yr 7 i think practically as soon as we first joined
I got a B in my English Language mock which i'm happy about and my Geography DME exam wasn't actually that bad which was ok. My exams are all over for now, just got to meet coursework deadlines. I got Science coursework to be done by the end of the week, i got 4 lessons left to complete my Maths coursework, I got my lines to learn for my Drama GCSE exam in March, two coursework pieces for French to be completed by February as well as some past papers to do whenever i get time to do them and i've got to have my English coursework all completed in 17 days! So got quite a lot to complete..
Grrrr. My English teacher has told us that we are doing our next piece of coursework we are doing as a speaking and listening, but we don't actually have to do it like that, as the exam board states you can do an essay. I think she wants me to fail, my GCSE is already in enough of a mess because of the speaking and listening that you actually have to do.
Well Im sure you will do fine, have you tired asking your teacher to give you a choice?
I have quite a busy weekend with school work...gotta improve the last of my English coursework, got to prepare the remainder of my maths coursework, learn my french coursework as well as doing some past papers and learn some more lines for my drama GCSE exam!
Oh well, i'm sure i'll get it all done somehow. :)
No, but I think there is more chance of me flying to the moon than her letting me. She never lets us take essays home, even though the other top set gets to do that. So I wouldn't have the chance to write it as all the preparation time for speaking would be the homework time.
I got my monologue result yesterday and I got a C. Really don't want that going towards my final grade. The thing that annoyed me the most was that on the assessment sheet, it said something like, "If you choose to do either your media coursework or your prose coursework as an oral, ...." What choice? I don't have a choice :wall:
Well done on the C Kim!
I missed my Science coursework deadline today, we're not allowed to take our coursework home and have to complete it in class in a maximum of 2 weeks, but i failed to finish as i got to the evaluation and then time was up! Luckily, they're giving me extra time to complete it so i am very grateful! :D
I am currently planning the last of my maths coursework which is due in on Thursday and learning my drama lines, got to perform our working progress tomorrow in front of the class!
Oh, and i got my interview about alevels tomorrow where i have to decide what i want to take next year.
It really pees me off lol - this boy does like, no work and got an A. It's not the exam board on that bit - it's the stupid teacher. The other top set does coursework at home, has choices etc. You're not allowed to take it home? I thought the start of not being able to take it home was for my year.
