Actress Robin Wright Penn insists her "shared history" with Sean Penn keeps their marriage together.
Interviewed before the couple split and reconciled earlier this year for British magazine Psychologies, the star admits her marriage to Penn has been a rocky one at times.
She says, "All marriages have their phases. It's life. We go through it, if we're married long enough. If you're lucky you grow and you work it out."
The article appears in the new issue of the publication.
Asked about reconciling with her husband last year - after the couple first split - the actress says, "It (marriage) feels good now. If it didn't I wouldn't still be here."
She adds, "There are a lot of chapters in our book. You have to do the work in your marriage, but it has to be laid on a strong foundation of love... We have that, and shared history deepens that foundation."
And Wright Penn insists her husband is a devoted "family man" - but he's no domestic god.
She reveals, "Sean is hopeless domestically. I'm the homemaker, and that's fine with me, because I really like that."
Why do they keep coming back together?
I know love can be unpredictable but their relationship is too much to deal with. If they have children it must be an unstable house to be in as you will never know what is happening from one day to the next
Chris Brown pleaded guilty to felony assault involving his former girlfriend, Rihanna, but will not face jail time in a plea deal announced at Monday's preliminary hearing.
Brown will be sentenced to five years' probation and 180 days of community service, Rihanna's lawyer, Donald Etra, told TVGuide.com. Brown must also enroll in a domestic violence counseling program and is also ordered to stay at least 50 yards away from Rihanna except at industry events, where it's 10 yards. He will be formally sentenced Aug. 5.
Rihanna was at the hearing, Etra said, and was "ready and willing to testify if necessary." She appeared in the courtroom to be informed of the stay-away order, which came despite a request by Etra to allow contact between the singers.
"I reiterated that request today, but the judge said at least until sentencing in August, a stay-away was appropriate," Etra said. "After August, the judge left open the window that the stay-away could be reduced."
If Brown violates probation, he faces four years in prison, according to Etra.
Los Angeles Criminal Court Judge Patricia Schnegg told Brown he could perform his community labor in his home state of Virginia. "I want Mr. Brown treated as any other defendant who comes to this court. That means something like Caltrans [trash pickup] or graffiti removal, and a two-week domestic violence program," she said.
Brown previously pleaded not guilty to felony charges of assault and making criminal threats. He turned himself in to police the night of the Grammy Awards on Feb. 8. Police said a woman, who was later identified as Rihanna, reported she had been attacked by Brown hours before the show.
Television personality and Tonight Show veteran Ed McMahon died June 23 at age 86. He passed away at the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles; he'd been receiving treatment for pneumonia for the past several weeks. McMahon was Johnny Carson's Tonight Show sidekick from 1962 until Carson retired in 1992. In addition to providing a "human laugh track" for Carson, McMahon announced the host each night with his now-iconic phrase, "Heeeeeere's Johnny!" McMahon is also known for his Publishers' Clearing House commercials and hosting duties on Star Search. He was most recently in the news last year for financial problems that nearly resulted in the foreclosure of his California home. He was prominently featured alongside MC Hammer in a Super Bowl commercial this year for Cash4Gold, which poked fun at his financial woes.

Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick have reportedly welcomed twin daughters.
The surrogate carrying the couple's children is understood to have given birth either this morning or last night.
According to Access Hollywood, the news was announced by Barbara Walters during today's episode of The View.
Ohio station WTRF has also reported that the Sex And The City star and her husband are currently at the East Ohio Regional Hospital in Martins Ferry with the surrogate.
A hospital spokesperson has declined to comment on the reports. An official statement is expected later today.
Parker and Broderick, who announced the pregnancy in April, are already parents to six-year-old James.
How nice :)
Congrats to themQuote:
Sarah Jessica Parker and husband Matthew Broderick welcomed the birth of twin girls via a surrogate mother.
The new additions, Marion Loretta Elwell and Tabitha Hodge, were born on Monday afternoon in Ohio and join big brother James, 6.
"The babies are doing beautifully," Parker's publicist says in a statement to TVGuide.com. "The entire family is over the moon."
Marion Loretta weighed 5 pounds, 11 ounces, while Tabitha was 6 pounds. Hodge and Elwell are family names on Parker's side, the actress' rep said.
Earlier this year, Parker, 44, and Broderick, 47, had confirmed they were expecting twin daughters by a surrogate mother who became the target of a media frenzy.
Two Ohio police chiefs are being investigated on allegations that they burglarized the surrogate mother's home so they could sell photos and other information to a tabloid, a Harrison County prosecutor said. Both police chiefs have said they are innocent and are cooperating with the investigation.
Jonathan Rhys Meyers has sparked fresh fears he has returned to his hard-boozing ways after he reportedly drunkenly confronted French police as he prepared to fly out of the country.
The Tudors actor, who has struggled with maintaining sobriety since a 2005 stint in rehab, was allegedly handcuffed by cops at Paris' Charles DeGaulle airport after he challenged them to a brawl.
According to Britain's The Sun newspaper, the star threw wads of euros at the officials and bragged of his wealth, before shouting, "You wanna hit me? Hit me!"
He was released from police custody after several hours pending further investigations.
The shambolic scene mirrors the star's run-in with police at Dublin airport in 2007, when he was arrested and charged with being drunk and disorderly. The charges were later dropped.
Michelle Pfeiffer and Kathy Bates are calling for prostitution to be legalised in the U.S. after playing historical hookers in a new period movie.
The duo portrays 1920s French courtesans in director Stephen Frears' new film Cheri, and the risque subject matter has prompted them both to question why the 'world's oldest profession' has been banned throughout most of their native America.
Pfeiffer says, "There is an argument to be made for providing some protection for prostitutes. It would solve a lot of problems for them. They're going to do it anyway."
Her co-star Bates agrees: "For health reasons, it would be better for people to enjoy those pleasures."
