She wants to protect herself, I don't think Cain or Adam would be happy she cheated before on John with his brother James and that James is Adam's real father

From what's been said it sounds like James took advantage of Moira when she was in a vulnerable position. It obviously meant a lot more to James than it did to Moira if he's fixated on it for over 20 years,

Emmerdale star Natalie J Robb has spoken to Digital Spy about the upcoming revelation about Adam Barton's paternity, admitting that the truth is "devastating" for her character Moira.

Next week, Moira gets a nasty surprise when she learns that her old flame James (Bill Ward) has arranged a secret DNA test which proves that he is Adam's father.

Although Moira has always known that James being the father was a possibility, it's still a huge moment for her when his drastic actions confirm the truth.

The timing also couldn't be worse as James's determination to reveal the secret threatens Moira's wedding to Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley).

Robb told us: "It's the whole thing leading up to the wedding when James tells me, 'We've lied for long enough and now it's time to tell the truth'."

Emmerdale airs the tense wedding episodes on Thursday, May 15 at 7pm and 8pm on ITV.
