CORRIE chiefs are considering a comeback for Becky McDonald – and she hasn’t even left yet.
Viewers will see Becky – played by Katherine Kelly – exit the soap on Monday after almost six years. However, Corrie producer Phil Collinson says he would love to have the popular character back one day.
Asked if he’s ruled out a return for party girl Becky, he said: “No. I’d love that. I remember being a viewer when Sarah Lancashire as Raquel came back.

“What an amazing piece of TV that was. It felt so important and iconic. I read it was going to happen and thought, ‘Oh my God, that’s genius.’ And it delivered. It was everything you wanted it to be. So I’d love to do something like that with Katherine.”
When Becky bids farewell, viewers will see the cast weep for real. Mr Collinson said: “They were genuine tears for all of us. It’s a close team. You have to be when you’re making that much television.”
Becky’s exit on ITV will be played out across two episodes. Katherine, 32, is currently in rehearsals for a new play, She Stoops To Conquer, which starts later this month.
She will play feisty 18th Century heroine Kate Hardcastle. Katherine said: "I asked for a change and it is exactly that. It's so opposite to Becky it's fantastic."

Katherine Kelly has described her Coronation Street storyline with Jeremy Sheffield as her "leaving present".
The actress, who plays Becky McDonald, bows out from the soap next week and said her character's recent romance with the Holby City hunk has been a nice way to round off her time on the Street.
She said: "I thought, 'Well done girl, not bad.' He's lovely, I mean, what a gift, hey? He's like a leaving present. How marvellous."
Jeremy, also known for his stint on Dancing On Ice, joined the ITV1 soap last month to play flash hotel manager Danny Stratton, who took an instant shine to Becky when they met to discuss a potential partnership between the hotel and the cab firm.
Becky is set to leave the Street on the day of Steve and Tracy's wedding, when the love triangle storyline comes to a head.
Her final scenes will be on screen on Friday, January 23.
Coronation Street star Katherine Kelly has promised that her character Becky McDonald will leave the soap "with a bang".
Becky is to make her exit tomorrow (January 23) when she gatecrashes ex-husband Steve's (Simon Gregson) wedding to her Weatherfield nemesis Tracy Barlow (Kate Ford).
Discussing the plot, Kelly teased that her Corrie alter ego will receive "redemption" after being falsely accused of causing Tracy's miscarriage, but said she would not receive "the ending everyone expects".
"I hope people will be cheering for Becky when they watch the episode," she told The Mirror. "Tracy has been awful to her and it's great that she gets to go out with a bang.
"I've had a fantastic time at Coronation Street and I'm chuffed at the reaction to Becky. It's been this lovely redemption story and I think that's what the viewers have enjoyed about it... I don't want to spoil it, but hopefully it's not the ending everyone expects."
Kelly added that she is still in denial about saying goodbye to Coronation Street after almost six years.
"I have seen those last two episodes and I did shed a tear," she said. "It still seems *surreal though. I don't know when it's actually going to hit me that I've gone."
Kelly previously described her Corrie exit as "fitting".
Coronation Street's Becky McDonald bids an emotional farewell to the cobbles in tonight's dramatic double bill of the soap.
Becky (Katherine Kelly) gets the last laugh in her war against Tracy Barlow (Kate Ford) this evening - ruining the schemer's wedding day by exposing the twisted lies she told over her miscarriage.
However, despite winning her war against Tracy, Becky decides that there is no future for her in Weatherfield. After saying goodbye to those she cares about, the feisty blonde heads to the airport to start a new life with Danny Stratton (Jeremy Sheffield) and his young son.
Steve (Simon Gregson), meanwhile, is stunned to realise that Becky was telling the truth all along and rushes to the airport in a last-ditch attempt to win her back.
Fans know that Becky is about to make her exit - but will she go through with leaving for Barbados with Danny? Or is her love for Steve so strong that she'll decide to walk away alone and rebuild her life elsewhere?

"Coronation Street changed my life," she told The Mirror. "The time I was there, with the 50th anniversary and tram accident, has been so eventful.
"It's been fantastic because the writers have kept throwing me anything they could think of. It's what's kept me there five years."
Kelly is to make her last appearance as Becky in tomorrow's (January 23) episode and has teased that her alter ego will leave Weatherfield "with a bang", but not in a body bag.
Recalling her decision to quit, Kelly explained: "I said, 'I think I'm ready to go, but please don't kill me off!' I'd hate to see the end of Becky, I really would."
Kelly added that although she has enjoyed her time on Coronation Street, one thing she will not miss is Becky's blonde dye job.
"When I finished filming I went straight to the hairdressers," she revealed. "My hair was so thin at the ends through all those years of dyeing that my stylist felt it was better to cut it shorter.
"My own brother didn't recognise me. And my mum said, 'I've got my little girl back'.
