Do you have to go back to college after A levels? I do...for 3 weeks!
Can anyone point out the point of that :p Everyone's blatantly going to forget/not care about what the teacher is going on about...lol

Same here, for 3 weeks, so we finish 27th June
Yeh I have to go back on the 16th June for a month...before I am off for the summer holidays. I have a break from my exams now until the 2nd June.
Yeh we have to go back, learn the first unit of A levels. Fun times ...!
Its because you need to start your A2 courses. There's a lot more to cover at A2, even though you only do two units per subject. The third exam is a synoptic which you can't really revise for because its not specific to one area or unit of the course.
I got that shock when I did my first AS exams and realised I hadn't revised as much as I should have done.Quote:
I know! I actually have to DO revision for these
I only have two hours of lessons left then I've finished my A levels :cheer: Its been a long two years, probably the worst two of my life. I've hated doing them but if they get me into uni then thats all that matters.
Good luck to everyone who is doing exams. Mine don't start until 5th June.
What is a synoptic paper?
Its basically an exam covering everything from your mandatory units over the two years. In biology our synoptic covers units 1, 2, 3, 4 and the compulsory part of unit five. You can be asked questions from any of those units or the question might incorporate several units. None of the synoptic papers will include core options.
On the edexcel biology synoptic there are two short-ish questions then a fifteen mark essay. You choose from two questions in the essay, both on different units but you can use knowledge from any unit to answer the questions.
 Thats a lot and I do Edexcel biology
erm....... biology with some human biology- I think
we have done a lot on plants, its so boring but then we have done some human stuff
You must be doing the same spec as me then. I cannot stand plants, I don't care how water gets up them or how they photosynthesise.
Are you going to take it on to A2?
Well the site you posted has got the exact paper I did in Januray on, so I must e :)
Yeah, I want to take in to A2, thats why Im resitting unit 1 in about 2 weeks now :S
What did you do your coursework on?
They were all enzyme based, other groups at my college did the same investagation but changed the variable, out class did lots of different investigations completely.
Mind was the immbolisation of Lactase:effect of pH
I did mine on daphnia (water flea). Worst coursework I have ever had to do. Try putting an almost microscopic water flea under a microscope, addin ethanol then counting its heartbeat for a minute  Almost impossible to do accurately.
Oh my god! That sounds hard. I cant use the microscopes well. They starin my eyes, so I always have to get my friend who sits next to me, to help :o
I don't know how to use a microscope either. In the end I made some of the results up because I got so frustrated. Half of them died when I put ethanol on them  At least I had plenty to talk about in my limitations and analysis.
 Thats a bit harsh, them dying. Although the other day when we went to collect biomass, some of the woodlice died.
lol i remember thinking that when i did alevels, i didnt revise for my gcses either and when i did well assumed that i wouldnt have to revise for my alevels either, and the first units in jan i didnt revise for and did ok, got such a shock in the summer when i did really badly lol!
I hope I dont have to re-sit geography or biology
Thanks.
I really dont want to re-sit biology though, its too much stress
I kind of want to re-sit Philosophy. Not that I'm going to purposefully fail lol. Of course I'll try my best. But I don't think I'll do very well. If I re-sit in January then I can set aside more time revise I won't have a mad rush with coursework like I did a few weeks ago.
Awww, plus next year they are changing the specifiaction so we are the last to do the current one, so it will be harder to do re-sits cos there will be no AS classes we can attend
GCSEs are a walk in the park compared to A levels.
My friend had her maths exam yesterday. She had a sudoku to complete  Wish my exams were that easy.
 Omg really? I think I know someone doing that kind of maths, was it is called?
I can't do Suduko to save my life
I'm not sure what exam board it is, I think it could be OCR. The course is maths (as opposed to pure maths).
I thought I'd been doing human biology for two years, my teacher told me today its just biology :searchme: Good job he told me otherwise I'd have done the human biology questions in the synoptic paper and got no marks.
Isnt OCR suppose to be one of the harder exam boards?
lol, I think I am doing the same course as you
Sorry its just I dont know many people on it and isnt it used by Cambridge or something?
I know my dad marks for OCR
OCR is Oxford, Cambridge and RSA. I did OCR GNVQ ict. It was so easy, most of the course was coursework with just two exams. Easiest qualification I've ever done.
