I foresee Geoff blackmailing Alya into giving her half of the business to Geoff, in order for him 'not to press charges' against her grandmother.

I was gutted that Platt got away from those youths

when did the bistro close for repair upgrade work and get a new racist manager?
does leanne know of jim's hereditary disease as how come steve never told the doctors surely olly be tested checked
Just dragging it out as usual.
I thought Steve had been tested for it and was negative, so it would be unlikely to skip a generation. I could be wrong though.
According to the NHS website, Mitochondrial Disease can only be inherited from the mother.
I thought tonight's episode was a little weak. I think the problem with the Oliver "Mitochondrial disease" storyline is Simon Gregson's acting is very poor, however I did think Ben Price put in a good performance tonight.
The episode was saved by Evelyn - Maureen Lipman.
no update on geoff and yas further
What has happened to the B&B guest at The Rovers? Is he social distancing from lusty Sean and the hotpot?
I am really sorry this story has been put on the back burner. I really want to know how it plays out. I have no interest in any of the current stories. David's story is just silly, and I am not sure if it makes me a bad person but I have no interest in poor little Oliver. Maggie only started at the hospital recently but she already seems to be running the place already. As for her family I find them incredible boring. The racism story just seems to be a nod to Eastenders. The way the Bailey family has been written as a stereotypical black family I feel is a bit racist in itself.
It did not take long for that old Soap cliche where people shout at hospital doctors to raise it's head. I wish they would just forget about it now and again.
How many times has The Bistro opened or reopened and still people get excited about it.
I noticed in last night’s episode, Aggie Bailey said she’d “Got a shift tonight.”
In so many episodes I hear characters talking about ‘a shift’, rather than just ‘going to work’.
Do people really say shift as opposed to work in real life?
I understand perhaps they’re nurses or police who often do rotating shifts. Usually then, the people I remember used to say working nights, or earlies, but not really ‘shifts’.
Even the bar staff at the Rovers use the word shift as well.
Language is not a static thing it grows and changes, altho' I have not heard many people say this in real life. It used to be said that Soaps imitated and reflected real life but now I think it is often life that imitates soaps. You never used to hear people talking about supporting others, they used to help each other, the first time I heard this was when I was working in Social Services, then Eastenders started using it and now it is quite common in real life. I suspect that some TV writers have a background in pyschology and counselling and it crept in that way.
I think it's more prevalent in jobs like restaurant work, pubs and so on, but was also around in some factory work like the places that had large amounts of electronics assembly line work. I live in Scotland and there used to be a lot of factories like Digital, IBM and so on had these.
good speech ed
Good episode but where was Geoff. Thought he was coming home this week?
Ed's speech was very powerful and I loved how it affected other characters too, like Dev.
I just found Don a bit of a caricature, the way he mocked Ed to his face and laughed. Yes, there are still idiots like that around but he's just started running a Bistro that he presumably wants people to visit, regardless of their colour. Why would he make stupid remarks like that when, in theory, Ed could easily spread the word that the owner of the local restaurant is racist?
Let's hope the seedy Ray gives Don his P45.
