Re. Migraines, Lizann - Naramig - the only thing that works for me - prescription only.
I did my second degree and the first year of my part-time masters while working, and it was hard going. I think the saving grace for me was that I am doing it for interest - a hobby really - nothing work related. I will only do a PhD if it is funded - the AHRC give approx. 35 scholarships a year to over 50s, but to be honest, that might make it too much like work? An alternative is an MPhil at Glasgow, where I got my first degree (in the 1980s), they have a 20% alumni discount, and I may (bizarrely) qualify for a student loan for the fees anyway 😂

Had a bit of a rough 2 weeks. Went into hospital for a laparoscopy on the 22nd of Feb and they found my uterus was joined to my stomach wall after my c-section 21 years ago, so they separate them. Had to spend the night in hospital. Luckily I only have 3 small scars and just had to wait for them to heal. I was just getting back to work when I got the worst toothache I ever had and had to get my tooth removed. Happy to say, all is ok again. Still need to take things easy until internal stitching heals.
Finally, after nearly 2 years married, I had my honeymoon in Italy over the Easter. It was amazing. I organised it all, hotels, flights, trains. We started in Venice, then went to Florence, with a stop in Pisa, then Rome and finally Naples, including Pompeii. It was an amazing trip. I am totally in love with Florence and will 100% be going back. Would highly recommend a visit While away the family here caught covid, we returned to 2 still positive case. Back a week tomorrow and all the test were negative for me and my husband. We don't even feel ill.

Been going through a bit of a rough month. At the start of the month we were told by doctors that it was only a matter of time for my father. He is seriously ill in hospital. I flew over and got a chance to chat away to him and thankfully he has been holding on. He has now stopped eating and drinking so has to be fed by tube. They can't find out what is wrong with him so are just going day by day. I took time out and went to an "off grid" camp which was the best thing I have done. It was just a moment of quiet that was necessary for me to get myself together again. I am ready to let my dad go now.

I don't know if anyone knows the singer LP but I spent my St Patrick's day at her soundcheck and concert. She is an fantastic singer and a genuinely nice person. She didn't rush any of us waiting on photo or autographs. She has an amazing voice and engages her fans in her whole performance. You might know "Lost on you" or "muddy waters". I would highly recommend that if she is in city near you, go see her.
looks like labour the big UK election winners
Nigel Farage won Clacton-on-Sea after 7 failed attempts... parkerman, you live there, don't you?
I moved to Spain when I had the opportunity because I prefer warmth and sunshine to cool or cold and rainy weather in UK. I love it here however this summer has become unbearably humid.. I can take heat to 40C as long as it is dry heat... this year the humidity in August has been over 90% most days... daytime temps around 33C, nighttime 25/26C.. midday and afternoon is a pleasant breeze but that stops around 5 or 6pm and back to sauna conditions... I feel for people with breathing problems because for the first time this summer I have and I am still struggling to get my breath. Roll on late September/October when it will cool down that little bit. I still love it here and will never go back to UK but the humidity can go and do one!!!
