Loads of snow here still and I had to travel to a business meeting this morning and the temperature guage in my car told me that it was -15.5 celsius at 0900 hrs this morning. Hate it, wants it to warm up again now please.
-15.5? That's really cold. Has it warmed up yet?
Ours has cleared up now :(
We had quite a lot compared to the usual around here on Monday and little bits on some other days. My friend slept right through the snow on Monday then when I told her about it she asked why I didn't text her
Another cold snap is on its way in a winter that looks set to be the chilliest for at least 13 years, meteorologists have warned.
Michael Dukes, of MeteoGroup, the weather division of the Press Association, said the "reasonably average" temperatures over the last fortnight would come to an end on Sunday night when bitter winds and freezing air from Russia were expected to move across the UK.
There is also a chance of snow for parts of the country in the early part of next week.
Mr Dukes said: "Chill winds from the continent will start to be felt across the south and east in the next couple of days, before a blast of bitterly cold air from western Russia sends the mercury plunging during Sunday night and the early part of next week.
"Although still far from certain at this stage, there are growing signs that heavy snow showers will accompany this frigid air during Monday and Tuesday, more especially across southern and eastern parts of England, with the north and west probably staying mainly fine and frosty.
"Temperatures in the first half of next week are unlikely to be as low as they were in the early January 'freeze' but will struggle to rise above freezing by day and will drop several degrees below at night with a significant wind-chill adding to the cold."
Temperatures are forecast to drop from between 4C and 7C on Saturday and 3C and 5C on Sunday down to between -1C and -3C on Sunday night.
Maximum temperatures on Monday are predicted to be 1C-4C, plunging to -1C to -4C in the night, according to Mr Dukes, who said the wind chill factor would make it feel even colder.
With overall temperatures in December and January between 1C and 1.5C below average and a freezing start to February looking likely, Mr Dukes said the last time the winter months were as cold was in 1995-1996. During that winter, in particular in December, the weather was very cold and windy with plenty of snow.
On December 30 1995 the UK national lowest temperature of -27.2C was equalled - recorded in the Scottish village of Altnaharra. Earlier this month, temperatures plunged to lows of -13C during a three-week freeze.
The forecast for tonight is -5C, rising to a massive -3C daytime high tomorrow with snow and then temperatures go down to -6C again. :(
When I read the article beofore it really makes sense about the cold, cos that year and xmas I have loads of pics of snow and I look about 4 on them and there was LOADS of snow
Yeah, it is my birthday in February and as a child my birthday celebrations always included a snowball fight  The last two winters over here were very mild and I kept saying that we need more cold to kill off all the creepy crawlies that were taking over, but I think we have had enough cold now :D
I would get out of bed but normally would not venture outside, alas, OH is on his way home and will want his Sunday paper - as he has driven all the way from deepest () Austria to be back home around midnight, I shall go and get the paper :D
No snow in Bristol, but apparently its menna snow tomorrow night to monday morning lol x
Apparently it's going to snow here tomorrow, Monday and Tuesday! Looking forward to least an inch or two of it or I won't be happy as it's not worth the cold :p
None here; I'm not that far from Bristol so I hope we do get it tonight then. I'll regret saying that if I slip over walking from the bus stop tomorrow
Its been snowing a little here, nothing that will settle and its starting to stop now :(
We've had a few flakes too. Nothing major :D
I hoping it will start again cos theres more clouds now :p
We've got really thin clouds and very blue sky. It keeps trying to snow but all we get is a couple of flakes every now and then.
 you have very blue sky!
I cant even see the sky, its covered, its like a dull white grey mistyish cloud cover  I sound awful describing this, but thats what it looks like
We had a little more flakes but not much
It might snow later in the day
I hope the weather forecast is wrong, because if it's right everywhere but me has snow next week :crying:. Although, don't know why I'm shocked. We never get snow :( Towns nearish me will though, I bet. Fuming.
we never get snow in southampton as it's by the sea, but it's bitter bitter cold - espec when your going out to a club at 10pm at night!
i hope its not cold tomorrow morning, i've got to get up and walk to work at 8:15.
I'll send you a bucket of Stoke snow in the post :p I hate snow.
It's swirling now :ninja: Clouds have disappeared and we've got twilight blue sky. It's is ridiculously cold though.
Weather forcast is heavy snow until Thursday, with a max of 2C all week :crying: Tuesday is forcast to be -4C
-1 here for Tuesday. Uh oh, I hope that is wrong. Have been in bed for most of the weekend ill. I don't think standing at bus stops in that temperature will do me a lot of good but I can't afford to be taking time off school.
Lol by the way abigail about an hour after you said about the blue sky we had some, its been dead werid although it did go dull again and wel now its dark I cant see
My dad's cousin (from Kent) just text me saying she has about 3 inches of snow! :( We have none.
It snowed here. Its still snowing actually. Our lodgers made a little snowman.
Going to be a nightmare getting to college tomorrow though! I expect loads of people who take the train/bus won't make it in for 9am tomorrow. Any bit of snow grinds London to a halt.
we had our first bit of snow bout half hr ago lol was only a light dusting tho lol x
Still snowing, it seems to be staying! About 2ish inches.. Apparently there's going to be 6 inches in the morning..
Fingers crossed that schools closed! :)
It's been snowing on/off today :( not come to anything though, but we're forecast snow for tonigth :)
It snowed earlier and stuck but it's stopped. I really want a snow day :(
Its snowing up here in the North ....... I rather it was sunny
Its at least 5cm here and still snowing!
Snow is nice until you realise what a nuisance it is going to be! :p Taking the main roads + traffic..ahhh. I am going to have to leave way early tomorrow!
Our snow has stopped :cheer: We've got a few mm.
My dad doesn't want me to drive the car tomorrow. I will not actually get to college tomorrow if I take the train. They are delayed if there is heavy rain let alone snow!!
Edit: I was right. Everything is suspended, part suspended or severely delayed. Although my dad is also right because I don't think the main road has been gritted! :nono: I suspect the only reason it is part clear on either side is because of the lorries going through all night.
Good job I got up early then, I'm going to have to get the bus.
And its still snowing!
I give up! All London buses have been withdrawn. As much as I've tried, short of walking to college, It isn't going to happen.
Now I can text people who live nearby and have a snowfight in the park. Heehee :p
I have no snow in Bristol :@!
Apparently my college is still open. :rotfl:
Lessons depend on teachers, and I know my teacher, so I will presume he won't turn up.
Well the 6 inches + is here! :D No school! :cheer: Bless Dad, he still went to work though! x
