Nope me neither but for the record I don't like the Mitchells
Having discussed this episode in another thread lol...
Den: Poor little kid. Scared witless? Sick with shame because what they'd done to you. Did they threaten you with worse if you opened your mouth? Course, who'd believe a kid like you.
Dennis: You're evil. You're supposed to be my father.
Den: Well, at least someone wanted you. It was more than I ever did.
That was such a horrible moment. I wonder if he will ever discuss this with Sharon. It sounds like this abuse that Dennis suffered may have even turned into rape. He seems really traumatised by what has happened to him. How any father can talk like that to their son is beyond me!Quote:

He made out that he didn't know anything about it.Quote:

Dennis has really been traumatised throughout his life, he was abused at the foster home and by his mother and his mothers boyfriends. No wonder he hasn't lived a healthy life, it's just to horrific for words.
Gives me the shivers just thinking about it. It's actually a pretty sick storyline for Eastenders, I mean sure they've done countless rape cases like Little Mo and Pete's wife I think but never a child, well Kat actually. She was dead young, wasn't she? Very brave EE chose something like this. I realy hope they don't dismiss it so easily.
It is really sickening! But I do think it's an important story tell.Quote:

Do you remember? the guy who abused him actually turned up in the square, Billy wreaked revenge on him. He remembered some things that happened such as him hitting him with a strap, and tying his hands to the radiator so they would burn. It was quite disturbing. I don't know what Dennis would do if he came face to face with his attacker, probably a lot worse than what Billy did.
The Kat storyline was very upsetting, and we saw flashbacks with that which I think worked well. I really think it would be good to use them in the Dennis storyline too. I don't think Eastenders have done sexaul abuse with a boy before. I think Dennis's feelings are similar to the feelings that Kat has. They are or were people that slept around, and acted rebelliously all the time, acted out. And I think a lot of people do that to ignore and block out feelings. Both of them found it very difficult to form a serious relationship, probably because of what had happened to them during their childhood.
Now luckily Dennis has been able to form a loving partnership with someone he can trust and who really cares a lot about him. I think this is a good time for Dennis to reveal to Sharon what happened to him, when he was little. Because he knows he can trust her.
Yeah, I think it's important that he does too. I was actually quite annoyed that he'd been written off as some 'player' just because Den was like that when things were a lot more sinister than that.Quote:

At least with Kat she had her family around her, in Dennis' case Den knew this and mocked him for it, that in itself is just cruel and could have resulted in a number of things i.e suicide being one of them; also Kat was a girl and I'm not discriminating or anything but it is generaly more accepted that girls get raped and boys don't even - 'accepted' I didn't mean to use that word but it's unbelievably difficult without upsetting someone.
Yes I think your right about Dennis not taking revenge on his attacker. I think he's probaly decided to be less violent now he's with Sharon, it's not something she wants to see. Of course if someone hurt her they wouldn't see the light of day, but I don't think he's going to go round picking fights with everybody. I think he has matured.Quote:

I think he could tell Sharon now though, she would sympathise with him. He has been through so much in his life, and Sharon knows that he is very traumatised. Dennis can't think that the way Den was with him, is the general voice of the public. Sharon is not Den and he needs to realise that he can talk to her about anything. I hope he does confide in her. For Dennis's sake, but also because it's a great storyline!
