With so much going on in Hollyoaks next week, there's a whole extra episode of drama as a treat for fans. As part of the soap's epic 30th-anniversary celebrations, the legendary late-night slot returns, going darker and delving deeper into the hard-hitting plots ? Hollyoaks Later is back!

"Hollyoaks is famous for its late-night specials," begins our insider. "It's been five years since the last one, and the 30th is a great reason to resurrect this post-watershed spin-off.

"Continuing the events of anniversary week, Donny is in danger, the teens face an uncertain future, and some old faces return?"

The story begins straight after Wednesday's episode of regular Hollyoaks. Following shock revelations from Donny on Brookside Close, the copper is on the run and desperate to protect his loved ones.

Donny finds himself teaming up with the one and only Warren Fox, who we've seen make a surprise return in this week's episodes, alongside mysterious new character Gemma. But why is he back, and can Donny really trust the gangster?

Warren is not the only reappearing villager, as an absent member of the McQueen clan touches down at the airport on a risky mission?

"Theresa is back!" continues our source. "She left to become an influencer in Japan, but things don't seem to be going too well as she's now embroiled in an illegal smuggling operation.

"This has serious consequences not just for herself, but also for her ex-lover Dodger. It's not exactly the welcome home Theresa was hoping for?"

Meanwhile, Frankie, Dillon, Vicky and Lucas are still reeling from the nightmare they endured in the child exploitation ring.

Clare's cruel treatment of the teenagers has changed their lives forever. They may have escaped her clutches, but the psychological scars run deep, and the gang are struggling to move on.

Keen to let off some steam, the group of mates head off on a night out in Liverpool. As the pals rock up at a dodgy rave and try to drown their sorrows, events take a surprising turn ? especially for one of them?

"Frankie meets this fun-loving party girl called Esme," continues our insider. "Viewers will see her first in the Brookside crossover, and she ends up having a big impact on Frankie's life. But there are some other newcomers that should be feared?"

Gangsters Sully and Griff are about to wheedle their way into the community, posing a terrifying threat as they drag some of Hollyoaks' most beloved characters into a dangerous world? Who will escape the late-night action unscathed?

Hollyoaks Later will air on Wednesday, 22 October at 10.05pm on E4. Hollyoaks airs on Mondays-Wednesdays with its Channel 4 streaming premiere at 7am, then an E4 broadcast the same night at 7pm. Full episodes are also released on YouTube a week after their Channel 4 release.
