Waterloo Road has confirmed when the show will return, as well as sharing some first-look images for series 14.

The popular school drama will return to screens on Tuesday, September 10, with episode one airing on BBC One at 9pm.

But as has been the case since the show was brought back last year, all eight episodes will be made available on BBC iPlayer from 6am that day.

The new series will see Jason Manford make his debut in the series as new headteacher Steve Savage, who is sure to shake things up for both staff and students.

Steve isn?t the only new element of series 14, as there are more big changes ? Waterloo Road has a new academy status and a brand-new school building to go with it.

The school community attempts to find its feet in its new surroundings, but there will be a chain of unfortunate circumstances and one bad choice that will have tragic consequences for everyone.

Joining the cast of Waterloo Road in the new series are Saira Choudhry, who plays new maths teacher Nisha Chandra, as well as former Hollyoaks star Olly Rhodes as Steve?s son Billy.

Also making their debuts are Nathan Wood, Matthew Khan, Danny Murphy, Sonya Nisa and Miya Ocego, as pupils who are sure to create chaos in the new run of episodes.

These new actors will join a strong returning cast that includes Adam Thomas (Donte Charles), Kym Marsh (Nicky Walters), Hollie-Jay Bowes (Debs Rafferty), James Baxter (Joe Casey), Jo Coffey (Wendy Whitwell), Katherine Pearce (Amy Spratt), Neil Fitzmaurice (Neil Guthrie), Rachel Leskovac (Coral Walker) and Shauna Shim (Valerie Chambers).

And of course, plenty of the student cast will be returning, including Alicia Forde (Kelly-Jo Rafferty), Liam Scholes (Noel McManus), Noah Valentine (Preston Walters), Summer Violet Bird (Tonya Walters) and Zak Sutcliffe (Schuey Weever).

While Angela Griffin won?t be appearing in her iconic role as Kim Campbell in series 14, she remains part of Waterloo Road and will direct some episodes in this series.

Earlier this month, it was announced that Waterloo Road had been recommissioned for two more series, which means it will remain on the BBC until at least 2026.

Waterloo Road has cast former EastEnders star Lindsey Coulson in a major role for next season, it's been reported.

Coulson, who played Carol Jackson on EastEnders between 1993 and 1997, and later between 2010 and 2015, is said to already be hard at work filming scenes for the BBC One school drama.

The Sun reports that Coulson will play the school's newest headteacher. This means that Jason Manford's Steve Savage isn't hanging around for long, at least in the top job (but still longer than Joe Casey lasted as head).

Digital Spy has reached out for further clarification and will update accordingly.

Manford recently spoke about what kind of headteacher Steve is, while delving a bit further into the history between his character and Kym Marsh's Nicky Walters.

"I think they were each other's first love," he said. "You know, they were sort of 16, 17,18 ? that sort of age group.

"They don't really say who did what, but I've got a feeling at some point he just disappeared and broke her heart.

"They've actually not seen each other for 20 to 25 years. She's got a lovely relationship with Donte [now] and I think the fans of the show are behind that and really like that."

He added that Steve comes in to "just stir the pot", introducing a 'will they, won't they' dynamic between him and Nicky.

Steve took the headteacher's job at the start of Waterloo Road's current series, as the school became an academy.

"It feels like a lot of pressure, it feels like being like the England manager or something, you know?" Manford added when speaking about the show in general.

"I think he'll be, if not the most memorable, certainly one of the most memorable head teachers at Waterloo Road."

Waterloo Road has shared a first-look clip of EastEnders star Lindsey Coulson, who has joined the show as the school?s new headteacher.

This series has seen Billy Savage accidentally kill fellow student Boz Osbourne, while trying to stand up for himself against Schuey Weever?s bullying.

Headteacher Steve (Jason Manford) helped his son to cover up the crime, but in tonight?s (October 29) series 14 finale, the truth came out and Steve was arrested.

It was previously reported that Coulson had been cast as the replacement headteacher, but it has now been confirmed by the BBC that she will be taking the reins when the show returns in 2025.

Coulson plays Dame Stella Drake, who was once at the top of the Ofsted ranks but was brought down when a video of her talking about parental incompetence went viral.

Stella has a strong work ethic and strict moral compass, making her the perfect fit to reform Waterloo Road, while it is trying to shake off its reputation as the ?murder school?.

However, when she joins the academy, the students are more unruly than ever, she feels out of touch with the modern pastoral approach and her methods might just ruffle some feathers.

In a first-look clip released of the new series, which you can watch above, Stella is determined to work with the staff to turn things around. But her personal life will soon spill over into her career, and she could be hiding some big secrets.

Coulson, best known for playing Carol Jackson in EastEnders, said in a statement: "I?m delighted to be joining Waterloo Road as the new headteacher. It?s a role I haven?t played before so I?m really enjoying peeling back the layers of who Stella is and seeing how the teachers and students react to her no-nonsense approach.

"Waterloo Road tackles social issues head on which is so important to see on television, and this series will be no different."
