Doctor Barton (Amanda Muggleton)

Prisoner Cell Block H fans won't want to miss Hollyoaks next week, as Amanda Muggleton makes a cameo appearance on the soap.

Digital Spy can exclusively confirm that Amanda has landed the role of Doctor Barton, who'll be part of the Osborne family's mysterious disappearance storyline.

Amanda is best known for playing Chrissy Latham in Prisoner Cell Block H between 1979 and 1983 - and if you need a refresher, many of her highlights are in the video below.

While Amanda will only be appearing in one episode of Hollyoaks, she's getting involved in one of the soap's biggest ongoing storylines.

With the Osborne family still on the run from their enemies, Darren takes a big risk next week when Nancy's health deteriorates and he takes her to a nearby hospital for tests.

It's at this point that fans meet Doctor Barton, who'll hopefully be able to get Nancy back on the mend.

Hollyoaks airs Amanda's scenes on Monday (December 12) at 7pm on E4 and Tuesday (December 13) at 6.30pm on Channel 4
