'Hollyoaks' actor Anthony Quinlan prepares for stage debut

Hollyoaks actor Anthony Quinlan will make his stage debut tomorrow, as Manchester play God Wept and the Devil Laughed begins previewing.

The production, which is part of The Lowry's exclusive 'NeverBeenSeen' series, tells the story of two brothers who enlist in the army while underage in order to accompany their eldest sister's husband to war.

The show carries on writer and director Justin MacGregor's story from 2010 sell-out The Play That Killed Me.

Quinlan, who has played Gilly Roache in the Channel 4 soap since 2005, is deep in rehearsals alongside a cast including Susi Wrenshaw and Thomas McGarva.

The actor is currently on a break from Hollyoaks as Gilly takes time away from the village after being found not guilty of raping Jacqui McQueen (Claire Cooper).

God Wept and the Devil Laughed begins previews at The Lowry on Thursday, July 14.
