Did he get them in order?

Siobhan

Did he get them in order?

No, not in exact order.. he has his picks on a table in numerical order and he got them right.. all the numbers..
He explained that he couldn't show his choice prior to the draw, something to do with some legal action saying BBC are the only one to announce the numbers first, and when he turned his choices around they were in numerical order.
I have no clue how he did it, It was all live and we could see the choice he picked at all time through out the program (they were on a stand beside him facing the other way and he turned them around at the end of the show).. Amazing stuff

This is it. but remember last night it was 100% live

I don't think he needs to buy a ticket, he is well off anyway.. So that is now Vegas, betting offices and the lottery he is banned from :rotfl:

no idea.. it probably all an illusion, split screens, mirrors etc but it was amazing to watch and the man is good.. some things are so advanced that you are left scratching your head wondering how he did it..

Why does he keep his hand over his mouth the whole time the numbers are being drawn?

part nerves, part poker face in my opinion. don't like the idea that its a camera trick that people keep saying, that isn't what his act is about.

glad to know i'm not the only one who thinks he's so totally sexy!

In case he got it wrong? He did say beforehand he apologised if he didn't get all of them right or none right.

Could have something to do with the trick, I don't think a guy of his calibre gets that nervous that he covers his mouth :nono:

Viewers have claimed that Derren Brown used a split screen to perform his Event Live lottery prediction.

On Wednesday night, the illusionist correctly predicted all six lottery numbers and will reveal tonight on Channel 4 how he pulled off the stunt.

The most popular theory online is that Brown used split screens to deceive viewers. Fans have claimed that he may have used a pre-recorded shot of the lottery balls after he moved to the left-hand side to watch the live draw on a TV screen. It has even been claimed that at one specific point, the lottery balls can be seen moving upwards.

However, the method has been disregarded by some, who claim that it would have been impossible to perform such a stunt without a static main camera. The footage of Brown was shaky at certain moments during the live show.

Other theories suggested for the trick have included Brown using "e ink" on the balls, the filming of multiple versions of the show and false walls, while one viewer even proposed that he may have used "psychic fairies".

Derren Brown: How To Win The Lottery will air on C4 tonight at 9pm.

One comment I read on youtube was that as they think Derren can manipulate the mind, who is to say he can't do the same to a machine...
My question on the split screen is if this is how it was done, how did the remove the split screen when it was the same camera used for both?? (not sure if I am making sense here).. the clip parkerman showed of the guy in his living room shown how it can be done, but they never showed how to remove the split screen.. and can split screen be done with a motion camera?

I know one thing... everyone will tune in tonight to see how it is done.. C4 makes money, Derren makes money!!

It was a spilt screen camera trick.
Ht was bull ****ting about how he did it on Fridays show

Luna
12-09-2009, 19:37
i was so confused by the end

did fall for one second that the group of 24 people predicted it

it's just not possible with the way he explained.

I agree with the split screen thing and the motion camera was just to put us off

Why do they allow him to do these 'tricks' when they are not tricks done by him but good camera trickery instead?

Abigail
12-09-2009, 20:06
Isn't all magic trickery, whether it's done by a person or a camera? If anyone has seen the film The Pretense they'll understand.

Siobhan
14-09-2009, 10:19
I think there was something behind it.. using the masses to predict the numbers.. he did say on the Wednesday show he hope to predict at least 5 out of the 6 and considering the 3 draws before that was 1 right, 3 right, then 4 right so going for 5 was an achievement..
I am a lover of mathematics so I would like to think it was involved a lot in this...

parkerman
14-09-2009, 10:29
It's absolutely impossible to predict the numbers in a random draw, unless you have 14,000,000 people all predicting something different.

parkerman
21-09-2009, 13:51
It's all complete nonsense, Siobahn. It's all done by auto-suggestion. Some people are willing to believe and can be made to believe anything. If you set out with a sympathetic view to the possibility he can make you stick to your seat there is a good chance you will.

It would have no effect on a sceptic or a neutral person. Magicians have done similar tricks for centuries. The basic idea is the same principle behind the way spiritualists and mind readers operate.

He is a good magician and showman of course but that's all he is.

Siobhan
21-09-2009, 13:59
Thing is, I was open for suggestions.. I took it seriously (well I giggled a bit at the start through nerves) and nothing happen..

no I am not that gullible.. I was willing to be open to it to see if possible.. My reckoning was this: he said it was only in High Def so only those with a HD TV got stuck, they call the show and then he send people around to steal their TV :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: perfect crime.. person in the house when TV gets stole, can't do anything about it cause they are stuck to their chair

moonstorm

Gullible, Shiv? No, more devious I think, loved the telly stealing idea.:rotfl:

A fan of TV illusionist Derren Brown has claimed that he was left immobilised for 12 hours after watching one of his recent shows.

Brown attempted to keep viewers stuck to their seats by playing a special video in his Channel 4 programme How To Control The Nation earlier this month. At the end of the stunt, he played another tape which was designed to free anybody who was unable to move.

Johnathan Whitfeld, 26, has now told the Daily Star Sunday that only the first video worked on him, leaving him motionless all night. His partner Katie Dunn, 23, was out with friends while the 9pm programme was broadcast and reportedly went to bed assuming that Whitfield was joking when she returned home and spotted him sitting transfixed by the screen.

Revealing what happened the next morning, Dunn explained: "He was just saying, 'I'm stuck, I'm stuck, I need the loo'. I didn't have a clue what to do so I texted a friend who I knew had watched it.

"She said Derren played a video at the end to free people. Luckily, Johnathan had also recorded the show so I found it, played it and he managed to get to his feet."

Whitfield added: "It was dreadful. I can see the funny side of it now but at the time I wanted to sue him.

"I needed the toilet and was in agony for hours but I just couldn't get out of the chair. I've never been hypnotised before but I imagine that's exactly what it felt like."

Brown's next stunt How To Beat A Casino will air on Friday.
