Did anyone watch this on C4 last night? It was really interesting.. Over 100 people gave footage of the twin towers taken in different locations and they were edited to make a complete package of the events.
There was no commentary (none needed) just the instant reaction of the people who where there. It was well put together.

One bit did spook me. Just before the 1st tower fell, they should footage of the market place beside the tower, it was completely empty, all the stalls still set up. "She's always a woman to me" by Billy Joel was playing in the market.. what was really spooky is that was the 1st song I heard after Charley was born on that day (about 5 hours after the event)..

I watched some of this but I turned it off by the end as it was just really heavy viewing. I remember 9/11 so well - a chilling and horrific day and one of the only events that filled me with tears. I was 10 years old at the time and it was difficult to comprehend how a group of people could do something so evil.

On the documentary one of the Americans in the street said that "he heard a plane will be crashing every 15 minutes" - very chilling and it brought home the fear that everyone was feeling that day, as it was unclear and too shocking to understand what was really happening.

The reactions first hand on this programme was really difficult to watch, especially everyone reacting to the people who were jumping from the towers.

I watched it early, It was hard to watch but the way they did it was great in the sense that you were in a way re-living the day but this time it was more up close

Did anyone else hear that guy who said, 'Monday night football saved my life' He was in the background speaking to his mum saying how he was 15 mins late for work, so didnt actually go in the building cos of the events, basically he worked in the south tower and he was saying this just after the south tower went down

Some of the images were scary like when the buildings when down and all the smoke clouds engulfed people.

Two cousins who grew up in the States because Uncle emigrated over 40 years ago were lucky to escape, one used to work in the towers and one in the Pentagon, both happened to be off work on that day.

Abbie, yeah I heard him say that.. he has been up late watch football and got up late for work.. I have heard other stories.. One guy, his mum got him a shirt for his Bday and it was so bad that he was going to swap it without telling her.. He went to exchange it that morning and if it wasn't for this shirt, he would have been in the towers.
In a weird way, it was fortunate that the planes hit so early in the morning as the death toll would have been in the 10s of thousands had it been later in the day.

I know it really is scary

Its also harder to watch it each year to imangine that at the time no one knew that those towers were gonna go down like that. Cos When we watch we know whats going to happen, but back then it was all about trying to save the people from the fires and getting them out
Its just so sad

Even watching the news reports today eight years on has done nothing to ease the raw pain that the world felt that day. God knows how the families of those who died cope.

I know, On the program about the phone call from the towers, this man was talking about his daughter who died that day, and then her brother was talking as well and he said that a couple of years later his son was born on 9/11

i was so sad when i saw this i never realised all the hassle on the ground as when i watched the news back then it was only focused on the towers then what was happening on the ground. hearing the phone calls and seeing all the people running brought a tear to my eye :(
