I'm looking to get a new mobile as I have had the N95 for 2 years now and I feel it's time to get something new.
I think with technology changing and touch-screens seem to be the way that phones are heading, I was thinking of getting the IPhone but some reviews haven't been too good especially with the camera quality not being too great.
Does anyone have any recommendations that they could make of a good mobile?
At the moment my heart is saying that I should get either the
N97

Or
Samsung Pixon

My friend has the n97 I think. I'll ask him how good it is. Is your n95 in good condition? I'll be interested in buying it if it's the n95 black.
As for the iPhone r u really bothered about the camera? It's adequate.
I would personally wait for the n900 nokia rather than the iPhone
Is the Pixon the next one up from the Omnia?
i have the pixon! cant recommend it enough! really good phone!!!

Sorry it's not in black :(
Yes I like to have a good camera on my phone as I don't own a seperate digital camera. I thought about getting the iphone but I remember seeing it reviewed on the gadget show and it put me off it a little.
When is the N900 coming out? What will make it better then the iphone?

From reading the features on the carphone warehouse website it sounds pretty good. Do you have any issues with calls cutting out? as one of the reviewers mentioned that it happens and I wonder is it manufacturing fault in all phones or just that unfortunate user?

Its due imminently and in short, everything. It will be slightly thicker than the iphone with a slide out keyboard.

in this day and age with the amount of things anyone phone can do, and as stylish as they are made to look these days, theres always going to be some kind of problem, compared to the phones i've had in the past and the problems i've had with them, this new is a beauty

I really want to get that one I did consider the N97 but then I fell instantly love with the other phone....
I know nothing is guaranteed with it I may be lucky and have no problems
It depends what you want from a phone. Some people just want a small discreet obejct to use for texting and calls. Others want something flash - i.e. form over functionality.
I'm the type that wants something functional and a mixture of the other two, hence why I'll probably go for the n900

I want a mixture of the 2.
I want something that I can use, plus the functions on the phone will be suited to my needs. Like a good camera as I don't have another camera that I could use. If I owned a seperate digi camera then I would probably get something like the iphone but as I dont- I need a phone that looks good but has good features & functions.
Do you know when the N900 comes out? So I can look out for it
Its scheduled imminently - Oct 2009.
I like to have the net ant my fingertips hence why I like the iPhone as the browser is very good.
N900 will use a cut down version of firefox - even better

Firefox on a phone browser? I'm listening now as I use FF all the time and have done for the last 4 yrs and I love it. So much quicker and I love being able to block out the ads :)
So you have an iphone- what in your mind is good about it? Is it easy to use?
iPhone is easy to use, but apple like to dictate what you can can't do with it. I'm not that kind of person, so I've jail broken mine. When I got the iPhone it was the best phone on the market but the competition has caught up. Its bit of a status symbol for most, but I'm not in the mac fan club.

I am a little hesitant about the iphone it grabbed me when it first came out but like you said the competition has caught up.
Years ago I wanted a Mac computer that was until I saw the price of the software!
I have a mac. It royally pissed me off with the one mouse button and single menu bar. Load of crap in my books. I've had tons of arguments with mac fans why the UI is crap. Not one of them has managed to convince me otherwise. Good computer, let down by archaic designs

Really? One Mouse button? I don't know if I could get used to that!

Going off topic here but I have to agree. We have some macs in the library at uni and I hate them. One button mouse, keyboard is too small and the "ergonomic" design isn't ergonomic at all, no keyboard short cuts...
Give me Windows any day. Easy to use, lots of short cuts and peripherals aren't that expensive. All software is compatible with Windows whereas Macs are sometimes troublesome.
I was at the apple store in manchester yesterday and the saleman was doing his best to sell me a mac.
I do like their displays though

I am looking for a new phone to get on Friday.. my friends keep saying about this new Nokia phone, which is just as good as the IPhone apparently.. do they mean the N900 phone which isn't out yet?
Ideally, I want a phone with good internet so I can browse and post on Soapboards anywhere :rotfl:

I will have to get this Trinity a look over the next few days.......
Perdy meant me!
I got an iphone recently and I love it!
I was in York for the weekend and found the camera fine - much better than the camera on my last phone.
The internet is fine, and I love the apps! I use facebook a lot on my phone, but I also check out the news etc. It is also fab to have my phone calender syncronised with the ical on my macbook and my hubby's imac.
I also love my macbook - I am sitting with it on my knee now, while I am watching Andy Murray getting gubbed. C'mon Muzza!
There are keyboard short cuts, but they are different to the windows ones.

I work in an EPS university, and all the physicists have iphones.

Do you not know anyone that's got an iPhone so you can try it? Or go to your locla apple or o2 store where you can try one

I am telling you good things - I absolutely love it!
Remember we all are different and like different things - take Norman's advise and try it out.

Just goes to show you have to make up your own mind

I will be heading to the 02 shop this wednesday
I'm due an upgrade soon and would like your opinions on the n900 and the iphone. Which is better? Which has less problems (I know the n900 is imminent so problems might not be known just yet)?
I have the omnia at the moment which I love. It has it's moments and isn't perfect. I've just noticed that there's more than one Omnia (http://omnia.samsungmobile.com/). Do any of these surpass the n900 and iphone?
Whatever phone I get next must be touch screen (can't go back to a standard phone), have full browsing capabilities, not be too fragile as I'm very clumsy and have threaded messaging.
So n900, iphone, omnia or something else?

Still undecided about a new phone :(
I'm officially in love with the n900 :D It will be my next phone when my contract is up, by which time Vodafone should have got it direct.
I'm not getting the iphone. I've read lots of reviews that say the battery lasts a max of two days, much less when using high demand apps, which is no good for me.
The n900 looks better than the iphone. I love it  Wish vodafone would hurry up with the direct contract though.

There is definitely an issue re. battery life with the iphone, it is a pain to start with but you get into the habit of putting the phone on to charge every night.
Charging my phone up every night just isn't an option for me. The hours that I am away from a charger (not going to start carrying one round with me) are erratic so more often than not I'd have a dead phone at some point during the day. I'm constantly checking my emails and facebook and taking photos when out so I doubt the battery would last long.

I am constantly on facebook, work emails, home emails, soapboards, BBC news etc. That doesn't really have a great influence on the battery life.
The thing that really drains the battery is the location services - if you have this switched on all the time you can see the battery draining before your eyes.
Location services is the GPS service that lets you see where you are on google maps, and lets you check out local services etc. I find that if I only switch it on when I am actively using one of those apps I do not have a problem.
Seriously, I am on my phone ALL the time, and my battery doesn't die on me. I charge it daily for about an hour - no probs.
