Are people not concerned about privacy on Facebook? I'm on there but you won't find much about me.

Its good to keep in touch with friends but that's about it. I guess I prefer the old fashioned way of social interaction

I have a few pics on there and my personal contact info is hidden away, someone said to me that the only way bad things can happen is if you put too much info out there. If you don't want people to know then I think don't post it!

I only add people I know in person or from online places like here. I've had three people in the last few days trying to add me, presumably to up their friends number as they didn't know me and one claimed to know someone who I don't and that justified their request.

I've seen some profiles from student union officers which are completely public and even have their address and phone number on :eek: Why would anyone announce something so public for the whole world to see? If someone wants my address or phone number they can ask for it.

I get random requests too and I ignore them. There are some requests I don't need to think twice about as when I get loads of requests from men and women in Turkey or Egypt I just ignore and block right away. I know I don't know anyone who lives there! Plus I have noticed in some of the groups I am in people from these countries just spam constantly :(

One of my friends has her mobile number and location where she lives and email address on show and I tell her to hide them away but she never listens to me!

Yeah i set up a farm on it originally but then somehow stumbled on the ville and got a bit mixed up. Although my friends think farm town is far better

My facebook has become rather political of late. Granted some of the arguments between friends are interesting to watch and I'm sat here refreshing the page for more; the bitchiness and willingness to stab people in the back is all too apparent and for university students is shocking.

Last night a photo sparked 66 comments because of a word someone used. Tonight another person is getting slated because he resigned as president of a society. I haven't commented but I've been watching it, knowing the full truth of what went on, and the ability of some people to blatantly lie is shocking. Someone had a go at one of my friends this evening becuase he didn't wash up when he lived with her last year. Have people got nothing better to do than join the mudslinging?

I am on facebook, but I have blocked all the games. One of my friends is off ill and she started playing Farmville, Yoville, Vampire something or another, Mafia Wars - for hours everyday. I had to block the applications so that I could actually see what people are saying.

I do not have many friends on FB, and apart from a couple of people at work they are all family, so quite distant. FB is fabulous for keeping in touch with relative in Auz, down south and my younger relatives.

My son has hundred of 'friend', some of them are really rude and I would not describe them as friends at all.

I only have 25 or so, but they are friends - in real life too.

My FB page is for people I know at work/friends,family and some people from here. I rarely add people I hardly know as I am not into the networking thing or feel the need to have a big list of people I hardly know. So not me. I prefer a smaller more intimate number of people.

I use FB for some applications but I have some consideration and don't feel the need to publish every single thing I do with these application. I nether feel the need to send invites to friends who are not using applications. The way I see it if they wanted to use the application they would do so and don't need to be bothered by me!

My fav application to use is farmville :) I did get into farmtown pretty late so my loyalty is with farmtown.

I have noticed some people have ongoing debates going on their walls and status' I don't care about all of that. My time online is pretty precious I haven't got time to get into anything like that!

Lady Gaga, Justin Timberlake and Usher are among stars signing off social media including Facebook and Twitter in aid of singer Alicia Keys' charity.

The campaign Digital Life Sacrifice will raise money on Wednesday - World Aids Day - for Keep a Child Alive, which supports families affected by HIV/Aids in Africa and India.

The celebrities have filmed "last tweet and testament" videos.

They will sign back online when the charity raises $1 million.

Their videos will appear in adverts showing them lying in coffins to represent what the campaign calls their digital deaths.

Lady Gaga is hugely popular on Facebook with nearly 24 million fans, plus more than seven million followers on Twitter.

Grammy-winning singer Keys, 29, said it was "really important and super-cool to use mediums that we naturally are on".

"It's so important to shock you to the point of waking up," the R&B singer said. "It's not that people don't care or it's not that people don't want to do something, it's that they never thought of it quite like that."

Keys married Swizz Beatz in August The campaign also includes Elijah Wood, Jennifer Hudson, Ryan Seacrest, Kim and Khloe Kardashian, Serena Williams and Keys' husband, rapper-producer Swizz Beatz.

"This is such a direct and instantly emotional way and a little sarcastic, you know, of a way to get people to pay attention," said Keys, who has more than 2.6 million followers on Twitter.

Leigh Blake, the president and co-founder of Keep a Child Alive, said: "We're trying to sort of make the remark: 'Why do we care so much about the death of one celebrity as opposed to millions and millions of people dying in the place that we're all from?'"

He added that he thought Lady Gaga would raise the money "all by herself".

"She's got a very, very mobilised fan base and that's beautiful to watch I think (and) she's able to draw their attention to these issues that are very important, you know, and that people follow it and act."

Celebrity requests accepted

Keys, who gave birth to her son Egypt last month, said recruiting celebrities was difficult because of scheduling, but "once I got people on the phone and I was able to paint the concept for them, everybody was in".

She added that no-one refused her request.

Keys is hoping more people, not just famous names, will get involved in the initiative.

"It just doesn't have to be just because you're a celebrity or something like that. It can be anybody."

She added that being mother and wife made her want to help others even more.

"As a human being, you deserve to have a chance at life," she said.
