I think the whole performance was a little over rated I feel some of the contestants can sing better then she can!

Her outfit was ok but it's all double standards one minute she is having a go at one of the girls for wearing a similar top. It shouldn't be what she was wearing it is a singing contest and I wanted to hear her sing and was a little disappointed by it all.

the problem with shows like the x-factor are that if you're not bellowing a huge ballad out at the top of your lungs cramming as many notes into every line as possible then they decide you can't sing. Cheryl can sing, she just happened to be doing a mid-tempo song.

I haveto say after seeing the John and Edward song on youtube it was the funniest thing i have seen in a long time! They are quality. I love them. There so entertaining.

John and Edward are entertaining for all the wrong reasons. I don't think they will win the contest but they will be able to cash in on their success

Not sure about that, I have not heard anything more from the McDonald brothers who were in the similar situation and only occasional references can be seen to No Difference, sorry, Same Difference

I can never see myself buying their music but I almost find them on the same naffness as Cheeky Girls. John and Edward look like little pop stars the only thing that spoils them for me is that they can come across as a little arrogant :(

I think there is something seriously wrong with X factor if they win... there is amazing talents in the competition this year (all of Simon's group are outstanding), if they stay and other, better, singers are kicked out, it is a crying shame

Hannelene
20-10-2009, 11:32
I think they will have to be eliminated soon as your rightly say there is some good talent in the show this year and Simon seems to of been lucky to be heading the group that seem most likely to win.

If John and Edward win then I will have to stop watching the show!

I think that they are being kep in the show for as long as possible in order to create interest. The judges can squabble about them, the viewers are talking about them .... what better way to keep the show in the lime light.
What processes are there in place to verify the amount of votes from the public?

Hannelene
20-10-2009, 11:39
I don't know but it would be interesting to see just how many viewers have voted for these 2!

Boyzone could make a special appearance on 'The X Factor' to perform a tribute to Stephen Gately, it has been reported.

Reports in the British tabloid media claim the show's bosses plan to approach the band with the idea.

One of the 'X Factor' judges in Louis Walsh, who created Boyzone in the 1990s.

It would be nice to see them perform but it could be a little too soon for them to do in my mind.

ROCK legends Bon Jovi and last year's runners up JLS are to perform on The X Factor.

The two groups will sing their new material on the ITV1 show on Sunday November 1.

They join music veterans Whitney Houston and Robbie Williams who both staged their comebacks on the Sunday night results show.

Irish boy band Westlife and jazz star Michael Buble are taking to the stage this Sunday.

JLS - who lost out to Alexandra Burke last year - recently said they were glad they didn't win the competition as they wouldn't have nabbed two Mobo awards by now if they had.

Their debut single Beat Again stormed to the top of the charts and was released before Alexandra launched her comeback with Bad Boys, which is currently number one.

Am I the only one who does'nt rate Danyl. He has got a good voice but his attiude stinks he has to show off all the time. He hasn't got the likeablity that Olly and Jamie have and if Simon was to loose an act, which he will do in the coming weeks. I'd rather Danyl went before Olly or Jamie.

And he insists he’s happy to do it

Simon Cowell is to sign a new ITV deal tying him to the channel for another two years – after agreeing a £3.5million pay CUT.

Instead of earning around £6.7million a year for producing and starring in X Factor and Britain’s Got Talent, he will get an annual salary closer to £5million.

But Simon, 50, who is poised to sign the contract in days, is delighted, saying: “I wouldn’t work anywhere else.”

The acid-tongued judge is proud that the sixth series of X Factor has topped last year’s ratings. And he’s “cock-a-hoop” after Britain’s Got Talent became the most watched show of the last five years when 19million tuned in to see May’s final.

ITV bosses are thrilled their biggest star will remain through the recession, which has seen advertising revenues tumble.

Simon’s £10million earnings are tied into bumper production fees to his company Syco – soon to become Greenwell Entertainment after his link-up with retail mogul Philip Green. A source said: “The deal ensures the budgets for the programmes Simon loves to make are left more or less intact.”

Simon said recently: “ITV gave me my break and I’d never leave them. I have given my word, contract or no contract.”

Tonight’s X Factor sees the return of judge Louis Walsh, who has been absent since the sudden death of his close pal and protege, Boyzone singer Stephen Gately.

He will rejoin Simon, Cheryl Cole and Danni Minogue

for the show, with crooner Michael Buble mentoring acts including twins John and Edward Grimes, Stacey Solomon and Lucie Jones.

POP legend George Michael will make a sensational comeback on X Factor, we can reveal.

The superstar, above, is in secret talks with show bosses about a shock appearance on December's final, expected to be watched by 20 MILLION people.

An insider told the News of the World: "This is a cloak-and-dagger operation. Everything surrounding George's appearance is shrouded in secrecy.

"We're all very excited because nobody saw it coming. It's a real coup.

"And this will be a huge way for him to return to the music scene."

Former Wham! star George, whose hits include I Want Your Sex, was one of the world's biggest music stars in the 80s and 90s. But his career has stalled in recent years - and controversy has dogged his personal life.

His last studio album was Patience is 2004.

X Factor has signed up Beyonce, Pink and Shakira for performances, and is currently in negotiations with Queen of Pop Madonna.

The X Factor finalists have recorded a cover of a Michael Jackson hit to raise money for Great Ormond Street Hospital.

The contestants' version of 'You Are Not Alone' will be performed for the first time during the results show on Sunday November 15, before going on sale the following day.

Sick children from Great Ormond Street Hospital will be in the audience to watch the rendition.

In 2008, the X Factor finalists generated over £1 million for Help for Heroes with their cover of Mariah Carey's 'Hero'.

Simon Cowell said: "This year we chose to work with Great Ormond Street to help raise funds and awareness for their incredible work.

"I'm very proud of the single and I really hope it raises an enormous amount of money for people who really need our help."

Louis Walsh added: "Great Ormond Street Hospital does some incredible work and I implore everyone to go out and buy the single to help raise money for such a worthy cause."

Dannii Minogue stated: "I have been aware of the amazing work Great Ormond Street does for a long time, coming into contact with many families who have benefited from their tireless care and attention.

"Their work is incredible and I'm so pleased that we are able to offer them support with this single."

Dr Jane Collins, chief executive at Great Ormond Street Hospital, commented: "We really hope that the public will buy this recording so we can raise as much money as possible to allow us to continue to help sick children from across the UK get better."

Meanwhile, 14-year-old Jade Rowles said: "I think it's brilliant that The X Factor is supporting Great Ormond Street Hospital because last year I got to meet Alex [Burke] just after I'd had my lung transplant.

"The visit from her really cheered me up and she even invited me to the X Factor live tour - one of the best nights of my life. If you buy this record you'll be helping lots of other kids like me."

The X Factor continues tonight at 8pm on ITV1.

I dont think J&E will go. I think they are kinda the chico of this year. You know wot i mean, crap but entertaining.

If theres any justice tonight Rachel will not be in the bottom two.

I agree. But I think Rachel was acting a bit weird after her performance, like she was giving an acceptance speech or something. Olly was good. IMO Jamie should not have been allowed to sing a song that wasn't Big Band. Stacey let me down, and I didn't like her dress. I'm not keen on Danyl either. John & Edward were better last week, but probably won't be in the bottom two. I am getting tired of Miss Frank.

It really bugs me when people comment saying 'Oh Danyls too confident and cocky' BUT if he was just stood there singing with no confidence he'd get slated too, people would say he's got no personality. He really can't win. I really don't see why people think he's cocky. It's beyond me.

Chloe O'brien
25-10-2009, 23:08
As long as John & Edward avoid the sing off, they could be in the competiton for a few more weeks yet. neither Dannyl or Miss Frank should have been in the bottom two. and there are bound to be a few more shocks exits in the coming weeks. Both Simon and Dannii still have all three acts. With Rachel and Dannyl both been in the sing off they are Simon and Dannii weakest acts, along with Lloyd. I can see these three going before J&E.

DaVeyWaVey
25-10-2009, 23:31
I can see John and Edward, making the final four or five similar to the MacDonald Brothers and Same Difference in previous years.

I will be supporting Stacey and Joe for the win now.

Shocked both Danyl and Miss Frank were in the bottom two... Glad Danyl stayed... Danyl is by far one of the better singer on that show and Miss Frank did a brilliant job considering they were only thrown together at boot camp.. there are much much weaker people in this competition and it appears to me that it is not about singing anymore.. it is how to annoy Simon or keep the dumbest act in the competition as long as possible..

Totally agree with you, I really liked them to start with, but the rap in every song got on my nerves, like they was a one trick pony. Saying that, I do believe that they put in a weaker performance than Danyl in the sing-off.
I want Stacey to go far, but I don't know whether winning the show would change her. She seems such a nice person.

CONTROVERSIAL X FACTOR twins John and Edward Grimes landed the highest number of public votes at the weekend, The Sun can reveal.

The bombshell has sparked fears the Irish duo could give Simon Cowell his "worst nightmare" and become the shock WINNERS of this year's show.

The news emerged as police were called to control hundreds of hysterical fans who yesterday laid siege to the X Factor house, where the telly finalists are staying together.

Show insiders were stunned that the 18-year-old twins, from Dublin, came out top despite their virtually tone-deaf performance on Saturday night.

Meanwhile cocky favourite Danyl Johnson narrowly escaped the boot after landing in the bottom two.

One insider said: "It is extraordinary. John and Edward were miles ahead of any other act.

"Whoever wins the X Factor, you can usually guarantee they can sing.

"If John and Edward win, it will no longer be a show about great singers - it could be disastrous. But you know what? It could happen."

Last night Jedward's mentor Louis Walsh claimed they were riding high due to their "likeability factor".

He said: "Kids love these guys - everywhere I go they come up to me and tell me they think they're great.

"They're young, they're fun and they have the likeability factor, which is what this show is all about.

"I know some don't like them, but they should back off and leave them alone. They put a smile on your face - what's wrong with that?"

The twins have attracted some high-profile fans including Westlife, Robbie Williams and Noel Gallagher.

Groups have been set up on social networking site Facebook urging people to vote in support of the duo.

More than 100,000 have joined a Facebook campaign to get them OUT.

The twins do not receive votes from their home nation as ITV only accepts votes from Northern Ireland.

Agent Jonathan Shalit, who looks after acts including chart-toppers N-Dubz, said last night: "The twins can't really sing but they are likeable.

"If they win, it would be Simon Cowell's worst nightmare.

"Look at the success he's had with Leona Lewis in America. Can you seriously see him taking John and Edward across the pond and telling everyone they're the next big thing?"

A massive 14.8million tuned in to Sunday's results show, which saw Miss Frank eventually voted off.

The giant figure is the same as last week's record haul and 1.3million MORE than tuned in on Saturday.

Some viewers complained their votes for other acts were accidentally allocated to John and Edward when they called the voting lines.

But last night an ITV spokesman insisted there were no irregularities.

Earlier there were chaotic scenes outside the X Factor house as fans' excitement reached fever pitch on the first day of school half-term.

Police were called as screaming teenagers spilled on to the streets and tried to climb over the security fence outside the North London property.

Fans, some from as far away as Yorkshire, set up camp in the early hours in a vain bid to see their idols.

More arrived as the day went on, swelling the crowd to danger levels.

And as the stars returned from filming, the fans' shrill shrieks could be heard more than half a mile away.Meanwhile cops struggled to restrain the mob as they ran into the road.

Stacey fan Mark Marshall, 16, travelled from Bradford, West Yorks, to spend a week outside the house.

He said: "I'll be here every day from 7.30am until the last person leaves."

Leanne Yfrah, nine, came with sister Shelley, three, and mum Even.

Leanne said: "I like all of them, I want to meet them and get their autographs."

X Factor bosses have reportedly held crisis talks after the shock outcome of last night's public vote.

The meeting came after bookies' favourite Danyl Johnson found himself in the bottom two along with girl band Miss Frank.

Both acts had received praise from the judges following their performances on Saturday night's big band show and Simon Cowell branded Danyl's presence in the bottom two as "a joke".

A source at the programme told The Sun: "They need to work out whether they've given the acts the best songs."

The insider added that the producers want to ensure that "the best acts" do not end up in a similar position over the coming weeks.

News of the meeting came after controversial act John and Edward once again found themselves voted through to the next round by the public.

The duo were booed by the studio audience and faced criticism by the judges for their singing.

Danyl Johnson was said to be 'destroyed' at having to take part in the sing-off, however, he was spared when the judges' vote resulted in deadlock and Miss Frank were sent home.

Simon Cowell reportedly lost his temper with X Factor co-stars Cheryl Cole and Dannii Minogue backstage on Sunday night.

The music mogul accused the pair of not being committed enough to their acts and spending too much time on their outfits during a showdown behind the scenes, according to The Mirror.

It is thought that the dispute occurred shortly after girl group Miss Frank were voted off following their sing-off with Cowell's protégé Danyl Johnson.

An insider said: "Simon could not believe his act Danyl - or Miss Frank for that matter - were in the sing-off and he was in a foul mood all evening.

"After the show he let rip at Cheryl and Dannii. They are always immaculately turned out and spend ages choosing their clothes and accessories, having their hair and make-up done and perfecting their look. But in no uncertain terms Simon told them it's a talent show, not a fashion show.

"He told the girls he wants them to spend less time in front of the mirror and in their dressing rooms and more time concentrating on their acts, song choices and criticisms."

Cowell recently claimed that press rumours were to blame for Johnson's setback on the programme.

X FACTOR has been rocked by a bullying row after it was claimed singer Danyl Johnson has turned rival Stacey Solomon into a sobbing wreck.

He told her she has been branded a bad mum and that seedy stories about her sex life are doing the rounds.

And he has been accused of targeting the vulnerable single mum as his own popularity sinks.

Insiders say Stacey, 20, is already “in bits” at being separated from her 18-month-old son Zach. And she has been stung by hurtful stories that she is a bad mum for leaving the tot at home.

She told the other finalists not to show her any newspapers but Danyl has deliberately ignored her pleas.

He has been thrusting articles in her face and reading them out in a loud voice, leaving Stacey in tears.

A show source said: “Stacey was adamant when she moved into the X Factor house that she did not want to read or hear any stories about herself.

“She got terribly upset when people had a go at her for being away from her son and saying she should be ‘a proper mum’.

“Then Zach’s dad told a mag that Stacey had been making out she was looking after Zach on her own and didn’t give him any credit. Plus stories about her sex life have been doing the rounds. She hates it. It makes her cry.

“All she wants to do is focus on the contest and provide a better life for her kid.

“She didn’t expect all this horrible bullying. But Danyl has just ignored her wishes and he can’t help blabbing when he sees an article about her in the paper. It upsets her and can put her off her performance.”

This is the second time Danyl, 27, has been caught up in a behind-the-scenes row.

Two weeks ago girl band Kandy Rain revealed that he had been cruel to them. Their mentor Louis Walsh, 57, said: “The girls rang me crying.

“Danyl was slagging them off, telling them they were never going to win. He really bullied them. Danyl is vile.”

Just a fortnight ago he was the bookies’ fave to win. X Factor boss Simon Cowell, 50, claimed the hunk had given “the best first audition ever” and that his performances were “in a different league” to the others.

But now he is fighting for survival. On Sunday’s results show, watched by 13.9million viewers, he ended up in the sing-off against Miss Frank.

It went to the public vote and Danyl won.But his chances of winning the show are now doomed. In all previous X Factor shows, the eventual winner has never been in a sing-off.

Danyl’s fall from grace has been attributed to several factors. Viewers are starting to find him smug, false and arrogant.

On the first live show, judges Louis and Cheryl Cole, 26, openly branded him “cocky”. Louis told him: “You are the most overconfident person in the competition. You need to become more likeable.”

On Saturday’s live show Danyl gushed, “It’s nice to have you back Louis” after the Irish pop boss missed a weekend of shows due to the death of Boyzone star Stephen Gately.

Fans thought he appeared “a creep” and “over- sincere”. And very few are backing him as a winner any longer.

Bookies Ladbrokes claimed yesterday that they had received just one £50 bet on him to win since Sunday night’s sing-off.

A spokesman said: “Danyl’s plight came as a real shock.

“It’s knocked punters’ faith in him. We can’t give him away at the moment.”

The news has angered Danyl’s mentor and show supremo Simon Cowell, 50.

He secretly expected him to win this year’s show but has admitted that stories in the papers have not helped the singer.

But he insisted he did not blame the media.

Last night an X Factor spokesman declined to comment.

RICHARD Gere is in talks to appear on Strictly as anxious bosses desperately try to compete with the X Factor.
They want the Pretty Woman actor, 60, to team up with Phil Tufnell's partner Katya Virshilas for a one-off dance.

The pair worked together in 2004 on Richard's romcom Shall We Dance, which also starred Jennifer Lopez.

A source told TV Biz: "The BBC is desperate to woo back viewers who have switched to the X Factor.

"ITV is hammering the show in the ratings so bosses think getting some high-profile names on will do the trick. Mariah Carey and Pamela Anderson are also being lined up."

Strictly refused to confirm if Gere would feature.

A spokesman would say only that producers were in talks with several celebrities about going on the show.

X FACTOR champ Leona Lewis reckons it would be fun to return to the show as a judge.
She said: "It would be fun. But I don't know if I'd be a good judge because I'd just say yes and let everyone through. I wouldn't be able to turn anyone away."

Meanwhile, the singer, 24, said she can't wait to meet the girls when she performs her new single Happy on the show on November 8.

Leona said: "I can't wait to meet everyone, but I'm mostly looking forward to seeing the girls.

"They are aspiring towards the same things as me when I was on the show and are going through a similar experience."

http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/xfactor/news/a184107/murs-archer-cover-cheryl-cole-single.html

Olly Murs and Jamie Archer have performed a cover of Cheryl Cole's number one single 'Fight For This Love'.

The duo, who are in Simon Cowell's Over-25s category, have been filmed playing the track at the X Factor house.

"We are going to do a live lounge. This is going to be a new version of 'Fight For This Love' by Cheryl Cole. This is for you Cheryl," says Murs. Archer plays acoustic guitar on the track and joins Murs for the chorus and backing vocals.

Midway through the performance, Murs changes the lyrics to: "We're sitting here in the Over-25s room, chilling out with Cheryl Cole... outside there's loads of fans screaming, 'We love the Afro man'."

Archer also attempts to imitate the dance routine Cole performed on The X Factor results show two weeks ago.

X Factor continues next Saturday on ITV1, when the final nine contestants will be performing with a Rock Week theme.

X Factor bosses have met with police over complaints from Golder's Green locals about the contestants' house.

According to The Sun, the £6 million property may be shut down because of the lewd behaviour of female girls who are visiting the building.

Teenagers have apparently been flashing their breasts at twin brothers John & Edward when they have appeared at the windows.

Local Alexander Netsler, who contacted police on Sunday, said: "I saw a girl who must have been only about 14 lifting up her top to flash at the twins. I had to look away. With all these young girls about it is attracting dirty old men to come and stare at them.

"These girls - some as young as 11 - are writing pornographic messages on the barriers. They are also writing their phone numbers on the walls, and no-one is doing anything about it. It is encouraging the sexualisation of young girls and it should be stopped."

Police are now patrolling the grounds, but neighbours are apparently threatening to stage their own protest.

"We're sick to the back teeth of all the disruption this is causing and if the police don't sort it we will," said an unnamed local. "The people round here are extremely wealthy and have their own personal security. If necessary, we will blockade the street and stop the crowd ourselves."

An X Factor spokesperson commented: "The X Factor has ongoing liaisons with the police to ensure that all security measures are in place. Safety is of paramount importance to us."

X Factor producers have reportedly decided to step up security at the show's house in North London.

According to the Daily Star, workers were preparing to put up a ring of barriers around the property last night following complaints over the behaviour of fans.

It is thought that a high wall which was erected to keep supporters away two weeks ago has failed to have the desired effect.

Earlier this week, it was reported that show bosses had met with police to discuss disturbances caused by fans of John and Edward and other acts.

A spokesperson was quoted as saying yesterday: "The X Factor has ongoing liaisons with the police to ensure that all security measures are in place. Safety is of paramount importance to us."

X FACTOR twins John and Edward may have contracted swine flu, The Sun can reveal.
The Grimes brothers shook hands with a hospital security manager who was diagnosed with the virus just hours later.

They met him on Tuesday when budding X Factor stars visited London's Great Ormond Street Hospital for sick children.

A source said: "It's very worrying news for the twins. If they've picked up swine flu they won't be able to perform."

The 26-year-old security officer was feeling ill before the visit but decided to "struggle on" because fans were besieging the hospital. He rang up the swine flu hotline when he got home and was diagnosed.

The man, who we are not naming, said: "I was with the twins the most and Rachel gave me a big hug. I'm worried I've given them swine flu.

"I know it's not my fault but I feel really bad because John and Edward were two of the nicest people I have met."

A Great Ormond Street spokesman said: "The staff member had minimal involvement in the visit."

Sun GP Dr Carole Cooper said: "Swine flu spreads by direct contact between people, like shaking hands."

Meanwhile, judge Simon Cowell was yesterday unveiled as the patron of Children's Hospices UK. He visited youngsters at the CHASE hospice in Guildford, Surrey.

Outside the X Factor house in Golders Green, North London, yesterday he was was blasted by five oddballs with megaphones who accused him of "taking over the country". Dozens of fans of the show booed them.

Barnet Council later closed the road over "safety fears".

X FACTOR fan Louie Bloom, 13, punched a hole through a glass door, slashing his hand, after John and Edward were voted through. Louie, of Ipswich, Suffolk, said: "I was so angry. I wanted Miss Frank to win."

Holly Willoughby is to quit her X Factor job because it clashes with her successful new role on This Morning.

The presenter, 28, is currently the face of the Xtra Factor, the ITV2 spin-off show.

But sources have revealed that she will leave after this current series ends in December.

Miss Willoughby was apparently so busy filming abroad for the X Factor 'judges houses' segments that she had to postpone her start on This Morning in September by a week.

Since then she has proved so popular on the ITV daytime show, as a replacement for Fern Britton, that ratings have soared, the Daily Mail can reveal.

Audiences topped the million mark in the past month with more than 150,000 extra viewers tuning in. Ratings averaged 1.04million in Miss Willoughby's first month presenting the show compared with 880,000 when Miss Britton was there.

However, that success comes at a price, as a senior ITV source revealed: 'Holly is incredibly popular and she has been offered jobs that are every presenter's dream, but something has to give.

'Everything had to be juggled for Holly to be able to sign up for This Morning and film the Xtra Factor and there is no way that she will be able to do it again next year.

'Things take their toll and as much as she loves the Xtra Factor, Holly realises there is no real possibility of her returning next year.'

Miss Willoughby and co-host Phillip Schofield appear on This Morning four days a week, from Monday until Thursday, with Eamonn Holmes and his fiancée Ruth Langsford hosting on Friday.

That leaves Miss Willoughby with just one day off before she has to record the Xtra Factor on Saturday and Sunday nights up at the studios in Wembley.

Miss Willoughby and Schofield, 47, will also be launching a new series of Dancing on Ice in January.

As well as balancing her many presenting jobs, Miss Willoughby became a first-time mum in May when she gave birth to her son Harry.

what was going on between danni and simon- major bad vibes and why have danni and louise swapped places?

Dannii Minogue is upset after being ordered to change seats on The X Factor, a report has claimed.

The Australian singer swapped positions with Louis Walsh for Saturday night's show, which separated her from Cheryl Cole and put her as far away from Simon Cowell as possible. The new arrangement remained in place for last night's episode.

According to the Daily Mail, Minogue was told about the revamp five minutes before the show went on air on Saturday night.

A source said: "The producers like the banter between Simon and Louis and wanted to move Louis up the panel. We are constantly trying to make the show fresh and new and trying out new ideas, but it was very upsetting for Dannii. After the show, she left the studios very quickly."

Minogue used her Twitter account to comment on the change during an advert break on Saturday.

She asked: "Love the pantomime of change of seats?"

The popstar later joked: "I think I am sitting outside with the fans tomorrow, that would be fun!"

Minogue lost her first act last night as Rachel Adedeji was voted off the competition.

Cheryl Cole hit X Factor co-star Simon Cowell after he poked fun at her dress on Saturday night, a report has claimed.

The Girls Aloud star was allegedly left furious after Cowell warned her live on air that she was in danger of falling out of her frock.

According to The Sun, Cole went on to "belt" the music mogul when the show went to an advert break. She is said to have shouted: "Why did you do that? What did you do that for?"

A source said: "Cheryl tried to compose herself, but she was furious at Simon. She felt there was no need to mention it on air - he could have waited and said something discreetly.

"But the dress was risqué. From the side you could see everything. Some of the risqué outfits just don't work outside of a fashion shoot."

It is not the first time that Cole has been accused of hitting the programme's boss. Last year, Cowell's sidekick Sinitta said: "When [Cheryl] performed with Girls Aloud and Simon had a dig at her, she slapped him afterwards."

John & Edward will sing Ray Parker Jr's 1984 hit 'Ghostbusters' on this weekend's X Factor.

The Irish twins have been rehearsing the track, which was used in the Bill Murray and Dan Aykroyd film of the same name, in preparation for Saturday's Songs From The Movies theme.

According to The Mirror, the duo will wear the jumpsuit outfits made famous by the comedy movie.

Songs From The Movies was last used on The X Factor in 2007, when winner Leon Jackson performed Michael Bublé's 'Home'. The year before, Leona Lewis sang 'Lady Marmalade' from the film Moulin Rouge.

Dan's the man with top vote - The Sun 3/10/09

Delighted Danyl Johnson staged an amazing comeback to win the public vote on Sunday, despite being in the bottom two the week before. According to figures obtained by The Sun, the teacher - mentored by Simon Cowell - bagged 35 per cent of the vote. He knocked twins Jedward into second place. Essex lad Olly Murs came third and Welsh teen Lucie Jones fourth. Jamie Archer and Stacey Solomon were fifth and sixth. Joe McElderry pipped Lloyd Daniel to escape the sing-off. The results emerged through a phoneline which allows fans to vote free if they listen to an ad. The 10,000 votes cast gave a clear picture of overall patterns.

CROONER Olly Murs joined Lloyd Daniels on the X Factor sick list yesterday.
The pair had to see a doctor after complaining of throat infections.

Lloyd struggled through his performances last weekend, as he could barely speak, let alone sing. He was in the bottom two but was saved when Rachel polled fewer votes.

Now Olly has been struck down with the same illness.

The doctor told them to rest their voices for 48 hours in the run-up to Saturday's show.

They were allowed to go to the premiere of A Christmas Carol last night - but were told not to talk to anyone.

An insider said: "Both are determined to make Saturday night's show."

JLS, last year's runners-up, said yesterday Jedward were "really cool" and can "definitely win" X Factor.

what was going on between danni and simon- major bad vibes and why have danni and louise swapped places?

Dannii Minogue will remain in her new seat on The X Factor for the rest of the series, a report has claimed today.

The singer was ordered to swap positions with Louis Walsh on the panel shortly before Saturday night's episode, moving her away from fellow female judge Cheryl Cole and show boss Simon Cowell.

According to the Daily Mail, the new seating arrangement will stay in place throughout the rest of the live instalments, despite rumours that Minogue was unhappy about being "shunted" to the end.

Reports have suggested that the star was moved because producers wanted to encourage banter between Cowell and Walsh by moving them closer together. It was also alleged that Minogue and Cole's interactions were deemed "boring" by bosses.

Offering a new interpretation of events, an insider said today: "They also felt that Dannii and Simon give the most constructive comments on the show, so they would make good bookends, so Dannii is also somewhat a victim of her own success."

Another source added: "Dannii has been upset and did complain to the bosses after the show that she thought it was an undignified way to behave to break the news just before she went on air, but everyone is telling her that she should not take it so personally."

Gordon Brown has revealed what he thinks of X Factor twin contestants John and Edward Grimes.

The double act have attracted widespread criticism for their performances but are currently in the latter stages of the ITV1 show.

The prime minister told Manchester radio station Key 103 today that he does not rate the duo, though added that some of the hopefuls are "really good".

During a Q&A session, he stated: "I don't think [John & Edward] are very good. [But] there are some really good people on X Factor. It's really good. And I know it's competing with Strictly Come Dancing."

Brown later asked: "Does anyone want John & Edward to win X Factor?" Following a brief pause, only two said yes.

Conservative Party leader David Cameron yesterday admitted that he is addicted to John & Edward.

Cheryl Cole reportedly spent £65,000 on her X Factor performance of debut solo single 'Fight For This Love'.

The singer, whose album 3 Words is currently at number one, allegedly paid the sum for her dancers, costumes, extra lighting, lasers and other special effects for the live show.

"The performers have to pay their own production costs and it can be a small fortune," a source told The Mirror.

Meanwhile, performances by Whitney Houston and Alexandra Burke on the ITV1 programme are reported to have each cost £60,000.

Bon Jovi are said to have staged the cheapest live performance last Sunday, which allegedly came in at approximately £30,000.

Black Eyed Peas and Leona Lewis have been confirmed to sing on Sunday night's live show.

Jedward Divides The Nation - Should they get the boot?

"No" says Sue Carroll. "Simon must be delighted he's discovered the X Factor's answer to Strictly's John Sergeant".

"Yes" says Nicola Methven. "Saturdays rendition of Queen's We Will Rock You would have had Freddie Mercury spinning in his grave (with far more style and rhythm than the twins managed:D) It's all very well for them to be 'interesting' in terms of polarising public opinion. But I bet they are putting off more viewers than they are pulling in. Get 'em out!!!"

---> I found them funny to start with, but they are getting on my nerves now, especially because more talented singers are going home because of them, e.g. Rachel. I quickly got tired of Sergeant too. Time to get your coats, boys :rotfl:

LUCIE Jones is to sing a Disney track for tomorrow's songs from the movies theme.

The Welsh warbler,18, gushed that she couldn't wait for the performance, which will see her go up against the remaining seven contestants.

She said: "Everyone who likes Disney is going to love it because it's from a Disney film. I'm really excited and I hope you all like it."

Terrible twins John and Edward are crooning the Ghostbusters theme tune.

Groover Olly Murs, who impresses the judges in his first audition with his smooth moves, will be singing and dancing to Twist and Shout.

Meanwhile Lucie's nan has revealed how she used to perform with her granddaughter when she was younger.

Jean Davies, 74, from Tonyrefail in south Wales, told a newspaper: "When she came over she used to always sing while I played on the piano. To me she's got that star quality."

Jamie Archer has reportedly been considering his future on The X Factor due to his worsening relationship with Simon Cowell.

Archer, 34, threatened to quit after he was banned from going on tour with Bon Jovi because he is contracted to the ITV show, reports The Sun.

A friend of the contestant claimed that he is also fed up with how he is being treated by his mentor Cowell.

"He was on the verge of quitting at the weekend because he was so angry at being given rubbish songs and some judges' comments. He hasn't forgiven Simon for changing his song," they stated.

"Their relationship is not great. There were already serious cracks but now it's more like the Grand Canyon. Jon Bon Jovi came up to him after the Sunday show, told him he liked him and offered him a support act role on the tour.

"Jamie was thrilled but his contract means he is tied to X Factor and wouldn't be able to do it. He was absolutely gutted and it made for a tense week between him and Simon."

A virus has meant that Archer has been rehearsing with a "croaky" voice for this evening's performance and will apparently be singing a song which is "out of his comfort zone".

The X Factor continues tonight at 8pm on ITV1.

JOHN and Edward could get their own TV SHOW and be the next ANT AND DEC, Sinitta has revealed.

But there's one condition - that they DON'T win the X Factor.

If they did Simon Cowell would automatically have to give the twins - who performed the Ghostbusters theme tune last night - a record deal with his SyCo label.

Sinitta - the former pop star who is now Simon's closest aide - explained: "Simon would actually create a show especially for them. Anything but have them win X Factor. At the moment he doesn't want them."
She went on: "They are going to have to take over one of the big shows, hosting Britain's Got Talent or something. People call them the new Ant and Dec, although Ant and Dec would be horrified to think people find them as irritating as that."

I totally agree. Its not about the talent anymore (was it ever), and its just ridiculous. Simon is just money grabbing, he doesn't care about who can sing and who can't. He's supposed to hate those two supposedly. This weekend has been the first one I've watched and it will be the last.

I can't stand the twins and I thought Lucie was amazing but I did look at the results again last night and right up to the point where Simon said Deadlock, Lucie was grinning.. she was convinced she would win against the twins until it came to the public vote.

It was said last night that Simon was in a pickle.. if he choose Lucie, everyone would have been on his back about "oh he can see another record deal to make him millions" and if he choose the twin, "oh he wants his ratings".. so he left it to the public (as in my opinion is should be). Get rid of the sing off and just kick out whoever gets the lowest votes that way nobody can blame Simon and co for their choice.

I don't think either Lucie or Twin could win.. my money is on Olly but now I feel that either the twins and one of Simon's act will be in bottom 2 or even 2 of Simon's acts just to spite the previous result.. This is no longer based on talent (that was proven when Miss Frank and Rachel left) Lloyd and Twin should have been gone a long long time ago.

But.. guess who will be tuning in next week, yes you're right, ME.. it is car crash tv that we can't help but watch

Siobhan, I agree with you, the judges decided on who they were going to take into the competition and as experienced music people, I respect their decisions. Now it should be just the public who vote who they like best. The judges verdict is pointless as even Louis admitted that Lucie was a good singer but would not vote off the act he himself mentors. Broadcasting regulator Ofcom has confirmed it has received complaints following Simon Cowell's decision to let the public decide who was to be voted off the latest episode of The X Factor.

Welsh teenager Lucie Jones was kicked off the talent show after the public chose twins John and Edward Grimes to go through to the next round.

The Irish twins have become firm favourites with the public despite some erratic performances.

The decision to open up the voting has been criticised in some quarters due to the twins' apparent popularity.

An Ofcom spokeswoman confirmed that complaints had been made but would not confirm how many had been received.

Advertisement - article continues below »

She said: "We will assess the complaints against the Broadcasting Code."

The twins said they have were racked with guilt after knocking Jones out of the show.

The 18-year-old joined the boys, nicknamed "Jedward", in the bottom two in front of the biggest audience the ITV talent show has ever received.

She said the twins, who have been criticised for their lack of singing talent, felt guilty about staying in the competition.

When it was his turn to vote, Cowell said he would prefer to see the boys again rather than Jones, but left the final decision to viewers as that meant the vote was "deadlocked".

I don't think he is trying to ruin it.. he is just doing what should have been done from the start, actually get the public to vote on it.. remember years ago there was pandemodium when Louie kept that really bad Irish group in the competition over a fab singer... it was bad... Simon brought it to deadlock to let the public decide, after all that is what they do with the last 5.. what is the difference now?
And how many voted for Lucie? less than voted for Jedward and yet everyone expect them to get kicked out even though they got more votes??? Let the public decide... for once I believe that Simon did the right thing here

Ronan Keating has said that he would "love" Boyzone to perform an X Factor tribute to Stephen Gately.

The Irish singer said that the remaining members of the boyband are keen return to the ITV1 show but the tribute would have to be "done right".

"There's a couple of weeks to go and we'll see," Keating told GMTV when asked about guesting on the reality series. "If it's done right, and it's the right thing, we'd absolutely love to do it. It's just how we do it."

Keating also confirmed that the group are continuing to record an album, which will feature vocals from their late bandmate.

"We're going to make a record. We were just at the beginning of making this record - and there were two songs that Stephen had already put his vocals on," he said.

"So for Stephen were going to finish the record off, and that's keeping us going now. The four of us are sticking together a lot because we feel that when we're together, he's still in the room almost."

Gately passed away last month while on holiday in Majorca, aged 33.

Louis Walsh was on Irish radio this morning right now. He said he was really pi$$ed off with the audience on Sunday, that there was a small group that kept calling the twins w*nkers, ******s, etc and he just got really angry and gave them the fingers. He said Jedward's family were in the audience and it must be hard for them to hear that.

Ofcom has reportedly announced that it will not launch an official investigation into complaints made about Sunday night's X Factor result.

Around 3,000 viewers are said to have contacted the media watchdog after judge Simon Cowell made the controversial decision to vote against Lucie Jones at the weekend.

According to BBC News, Ofcom has now indicated that while it considers complaints about flawed voting processes and treatment of contestants, it does not investigate the outcome of programmes.

A representative for the organisation added that it reviews "every complaint" it receives.

Sunday's show saw Cowell's vote forcing a deadlock following a sing-off between Welsh singer Jones and twins John & Edward. Dannii Minogue's 18-year-old hopeful was then eliminated after producers reverted to the earlier viewer poll.

A massive 82% of Yahoo! users believe that The X Factor has lost all credibilty following Lucie's exit from the show.

Only 8% of almost 48,000 people who voted said that they still believed the show was credible, while many commented that they would no longer be watching.

Sunday night's controversial result saw Simon Cowell force the decision to the public vote after Lucie Jones and John and Edward found themselves in the bottom two.

It was then revealed that Lucie had received the least votes and she left the competition, despite giving a much better performance than the twins during the sing-off.

The poll results come after it was revealed that ITV has had more than 3,000 complaints about Sunday night's programme.

TV watchdog Ofcom has also confirmed that it is investigating complaints from viewers about the show.

Fans are also threatening to boycott the show because they believe it has turned into a joke. Lorda288 said: "What a farce - as soon as Simon chose to keep the twins in I switched off. I won't be watching again. For him it is all about money and his acts winning.!

Floloverrichard added: "Let me know when John and Edward have gone and I will start watching the show again."

In other X Factor news, it's been reported that plans for a dance theme this weekend have been ditched by Simon Cowell in a last minute decision.

The remaining acts will now sing songs by Queen on Saturday night's show.

We only found yesterday that this week the finalists would be singing an array of popular songs from group Queen and we now know what Danyl and Jedward are planning on singing. Some fans suggested that the twins would sing We Will Rock You again, but not so…

According to The Mirror’s 3AM, Danyl will be singing Queen’s infamous We Are The Champions while the twins are preparing to take on Radio GaGa!

As always nothing is confirmed until Sunday, so these remain as rumours until then!

Rihanna has confirmed that she will be performing on The X Factor later this month.

The 'Umbrella' singer is expected to sing her new single 'Russian Roulette' and act as a guest mentor on the ITV1 reality show.

Her appearance is expected to tie in with the release of her fourth studio album Rated R, which is released on November 23.

Speaking to The Mirror about working on the show, she said: "I am beyond excited - it was the easiest decision I've ever made. A lot of people watch the show over here on YouTube and I personally caught a lot of it when Leona Lewis was on, who's an amazing artist.

"So to say yes to Simon was an honour, especially as I know the show so well."

Shakira will be the celebrity guest on this Sunday's X Factor, while Britain's Got Talent star Susan Boyle will perform her debut single 'Wild Horses' on the November 22 episode.

Simon Cowell has forbidden the X Factor contestants from discussing the controversy over the Jedward vote.

The show boss is desperately trying to keep control of the public uproar following his decision to back Irish twins John and Edward Grimes, and could even apologise to the nation for causing such an upset.

One of Simon’s own acts, Olly Murs, 25, confessed: “I can’t say anything, they won’t let me.” And when Lloyd Daniels, 16, was asked about the twins, he replied: “I’m not allowed to say anything, sorry.”

They have all been warned not to add fuel to the fire by giving their opinion on whether the music mogul was right to back the twins.

An insider said last night that Simon, 50, might use Saturday’s live show to say sorry, but warned he would not back down over letting the public have the final say.

He said: “Simon will only hold his hands up if he thinks he’s done something seriously wrong. He’s sorry so many people are upset but stands by his decision to send the result to dead lock and see who the nation wanted out.” But he added: “When Simon lays down the law only someone stupid would think about breaking it.

“The whole thing is getting a bit out of hand and Simon doesn’t want to make things worse with contestants mouth- ing off about the scandal.

“He runs a tight ship and they have been warned there will be serious consequences if they discuss anything outside the X Factor family.”

Simon’s warning came after more than 3,000 people complained to ITV and telly watchdog Ofcom about Sunday’s results show.

Many fans accused him of manipulating the show so one of his acts will win, even though it meant getting rid of talented Lucie Jones, 18, who he described as the “strongest girl in the competition”. And yesterday a poll on the show’s website revealed 89% of fans were left “completely numb” by his decision to save them.

But the Irish duo are backed by star Robbie Williams, 35, who said: “What do you look forward to every week on that programme?

“For me it’s Jedward, I love watching them. I think it’s an entertainment show and I am entertained by those two.”

Their mentor Louis Walsh, 56, aims to give them a show-stopping routine on Saturday when they belt out Queen classic track Radio Ga Ga.

My Mum was so angry about what Simon did last week she said she won't watch it this week, but I said it wouldn't make any difference to the viewing figures, because ages ago I read somewhere that a company gives a gadget to so many thousands of people to attach to their TVs so what they watch can be tracked and then they multiply it by how many thousands to work out the general viewing figures for the whole of the UK (for all programs and channels). Does anyone know if this is actually how it works? BTW I WILL still be watching X Factor, but will be MUCH HAPPIER when the Twins get sent home :wall::angry:

Rock star Sting has called the X Factor "televised karaoke" and said judges like Simon Cowell have "no recognisable talent apart from self-promotion".

The singer, 58, told London's Evening Standard that the Saturday night show was "a soap opera which has nothing to do with music".

Lucie Jones's agent reportedly wants to change the terms of the singer's X Factor contract.

According to The Sun, Leigh-Ann Regan claims that the 20-year-old has been offered record deals, a role in a BBC drama and an audition for a Hollywood film.

Regan, of Regan Rimmer Management, said: "It's frustrating because we represented her before she went into the X Factor and are still representing her.

"There are lots of offers on the table, but we can't do anything with them because she's now under contract with The X Factor until March 2010."

She added: "We're not willing to pass the deals over to the [X Factor] management company because we discovered her."

Jones lost the public vote on Sunday's results show after Simon Cowell's decision to save John & Edward left the panel in deadlock.

Dannii Minogue has dedicated her Cosmopolitan Ultimate TV Personality of the Year Award to her last remaining X Factor act Stacey Solomon.

The Aussie star said she had forgiven Simon Cowell for saving John And Edward but was determined to win the ITV talent show with Essex girl Stacey.

Dannii brandished her award saying "I'll keep it in my dressing room as inspiration for Stacey (Solomon) - a bit of girl power from Cosmo."

The X Factor judge insisted she wasn't angry with Simon Cowell over the events at the weekend which led to her act Lucie Jones's departure.

She said: "Simon and I spoke yesterday, it's fine."

But she added: "Taking it to deadlock is not something I would have done. I thought as soon as he did it of all the hype and press John And Edward had had all week. But it's something he did in the heat of the moment and now he has to live with it, and if he ends up with John And Edward winning the record deal, well..."

Meanwhile EastEnders star Lacey Turner, who won the Cosmopolitan Ultimate TV Actress Award revealed John And Edward are her guilty pleasure.

"I love them", she confessed.

"I don't think they should win but I think they should be in the final. They're so entertaining."

But Girls Aloud's Kimberly Walsh said: "I don't get John and Edward. They're very entertaining, I can see that, but they can't sing. I love little Joseph. I think he's great but you just don't know with X Factor."

X Factor judge Louis Walsh has complained about Irish viewers being unable to vote for their favourite contestants.

The boyband manager claimed that Dublin-born brothers John & Edward are at a disadvantage in the contest because they do not have a hometown vote like the other acts.

Speaking to the Evening Herald, the pair's mentor commented: "It's ridiculous Irish viewers can't vote. I'd be far more confident of keeping the twins in if we had a vote in Ireland."

He added: "I know from just walking down the street here and the reaction I'm getting that they have huge support here."

Fans who watch The X Factor on TV3 in Ireland were able to vote for the first four series. However, the Irish phone lines were scrapped in 2008.

Walsh recently admitted that John & Edward were "slagged off" in Ireland during the initial stages of the competition.

HE two biggest Afros in music appeared head-to-head last night as X Factor star Jamie Archer met his hero - Queen's Brian May.

The frizzy-topped duo were introduced as the talent show wannabes were given a rock masterclass by Brian, 62, and bandmate Roger Taylor ahead of tonight's Queen night.

Guitarist Brian, who will perform mega-hit Bohemian Rhapsody alongside the hopefuls tomorrow, was so impressed with Jamie's curly mop that he modestly asked him: "Are you trying to copy me?"

Queen fan Jamie, 34 - nicknamed "Jamie Afro" - confessed he WAS, replying: "It's part Brian May and part Jimi Hendrix." Jamie will sing the rockers' smash Radio Ga Ga on tonight's ITV show. He said: "Queen are heroes of mine. I know this performance is going to be the best of my life."

Brian and Roger, 60, also met contestants Danyl Johnson, Stacey Solomon, Joe McElderry, Lloyd Daniels, Olly Murs and twins John and Edward Grimes in London.

And Brian had reassuring words for Danyl, who will be singing the group's We Are The Champions.

The 27-year-old singer has been blasted for being cocky. But Brian said legendary Queen frontman Freddie Mercury - who died in 1991 - had faced similar criticism.

He said: "Freddie was accused of being arrogant more than once. You need to go out there and give it to the audience".

John and Edward, dubbed Jedward, will perform Under Pressure - with lyrics by rapper VANILLA ICE.

The 18-year-olds, from Dublin, have already been compared to the '80s star, real name Robert Van Winkle, due to their ice-white quiffs.

Now they will add his words to Queen's bassline in the style of his 1989 hit.

The twins' mentor Louis Walsh said: "If there's one thing people know about Jedward, it's that they are entertaining. I guarantee this will be their most entertaining performance ever. I'm convinced they'll avoid the sing-off."

Last night Louis, 57, hinted the twins would be signing a record deal - even if they got the push.

He said: "Jedward will soon sign a deal, there's huge interest in them. They'll be making records and having the time of their lives.

"As far as I'm concerned they've won already as they've proved Simon Cowell wrong. I'll be happy to get one more week - but they can keep going and going."

The tone-deaf twins controversially stayed in the show last week after Cowell took the decision back to the public vote with the pair in the bottom two.

Meanwhile Olly made a last-minute dash from rehearsals to hospital yesterday. The 25-year-old Essex boy - favourite to win the show - was taken for X-rays on the hand he broke on a punchbag inside the X Factor house.

Medics wanted to check the break hadn't shifted, requiring an operation. And Olly had an anxious wait for the all-clear to sing tonight.

One patient at University College Hospital said: "He looked worried so we wished him luck."

The BBC hit out last night over the scheduling of the X Factor final, which will take place on the same night as the Sports Personality of the Year.

The December 13 clash means the Beeb's glittering event will be left with the ratings crumbs.

A BBC spokesman said: "It's a real shame."

Cowell's singer pal Sinitta was forced to wear a FACEMASK at the X Factor studios yesterday - to avoid giving him her cold.

DIVAS Lady Gaga and Janet Jackson will sing on the X Factor's final live show, a Michael Jackson special.

X Factor contestants John & Edward have reportedly been forced to change the song they are performing on tonight's show at the last minute.

The teenagers were due to attempt Queen's hit 'Radio Ga Ga', but have been advised to try the band's 1981 collaboration with David Bowie 'Under Pressure' instead, according to The Mirror.

A show insider told the newspaper: "The twins were struggling a bit with 'Radio Ga Ga' so a decision was made to change their song.

"But they're freaking out now as they're having problems remembering the words for 'Under Pressure' and they're worried they'll mess it up.

"For the past few weeks, their performances have been ambitious but there is no big production to hide behind this time.

"There's some big notes in this song too so that's another worry."

Last week, John and Edward were in the bottom two but were saved by the public vote after Simon Cowell decided to go to deadlock.

The twins' mentor Louis Walsh revealed that he will be delighted if the 18-year-olds can survive another week.

He said: "I'm worried about them going home. If we get through I'll be so happy."

Factor producers are reportedly worried about a website which offers free phone votes for the show.

Viewers can use the free2call.tv website to avoid paying premium rates for their votes. Instead, they listen to a 15-second advert when they place their call. Over 50,000 fans have reportedly used the service this year.

However, the Daily Mail claims that producers are worried that the service could lead to "possible fraud" because it does not have the security that the official voting lines do.

Fans from Ireland, who are not able to use the normal voting system, can support acts using the free2call service. Meanwhile, there are fears that betting syndicates could place multiple votes without broadcasters realising.

ITV has reportedly already held a meeting with Ofcom to discuss the website. Lawyers from the BBC and Channel 4 also attended because of worries that the problem could affect their shows.

Edward Boddington, chief executive of the firm that looks after the show's voting system, said that if free2call affected the show's outcome ITV may have to cancel the vote and refund viewers.

However, free2call owner Mark Hillman said: "We vote on X Factor just the same way that the public do. All we do is sit in the middle."

He added that the service complies with Ofcom and Phonepay Plus, although an Ofcom spokesperson said that it had not approved the service.

Meanwhile, an X Factor spokesperson claimed that less than 1% of votes were made through free2call and said checks were made to make sure the votes were routed into the correct X Factor numbers.

She added: "The integrity of our voting systems is of paramount importance and we are confident there has been no possibilty of free2call votes affecting the overall result."
