2636: Ravi arranges a date with Leila
Airs on Monday, August 31 2009 at 18:30 BST on Channel 4

Ravi has difficulty dealing with his family and friends' reactions to his aneurysm. When Leila offers to join him on a run, Ravi takes off without her in an attempt to escape his sister's constant surveillance. Running into Loretta outside the launderette, Ravi begins to flirt and much to Leila's concern, arranges a date for that evening.

In the meantime, Leila continues to stick close to her brother and the pair engage in a game of pool during which Ravi makes Leila promise not to tell their mother about his date with Loretta – fearing the embarrassing conversation that would soon follow. Leila tentatively agrees, but when she later sees Loretta, Leila elects to fill her in on the things Ravi has to avoid - namely alcohol and sex.

Although insulted by the implication, Loretta tries not to let it spoil her evening with Ravi. Loretta confesses to Tony that she's nervous about her date, given it's her first since Dom, while Ravi's also secretly lacking confidence given his condition.

The pair meet up for a game of pool as arranged but when Loretta lets slip about her earlier conversation with Leila, Ravi snaps at his sister and slips to the edge of violence…
Meanwhile, Jacqui remains tired and emotional after returning from her unsuccessful trip to find Max. Passing the launderette, she rages upon discovering that she's been replaced by Loretta in her absence. To get some quick-fire revenge against Ash for filling her job so quickly, Jacqui picks up the first batch of washing she can find and marches it to the fountain. When the unfortunate customer follows, Jacqui meets a man named Des but doesn't give him the time of day. Jacqui's thoughts instead dwell on Max and she confides in Tony about not being able to find her son.

Although not what she wants to hear, Tony tells her it might be time to move on. When she runs into Des for a second time, Jacqui takes a sneaky rummage through his washing bag but is caught red-handed. Rather than taking offence, Des is taken with Jacqui and asks her out for a drink. Jacqui refuses but Des gives her his number anyway. Although briefly entertaining the notion, Jacqui throws the number away, only for Carmel to rescue it from the rubbish…

Elsewhere, Zoe struggles with her conscience as her Buff TV segment premieres. At first, Theresa's encouraged by Carmel's positive reaction when she says she wants to be a model rather than go back to school, but worries that her opinion will soon change when she sees her Buff TV debut.

Zoe's embarrassed to watch the broadcast with a disapproving Nancy, while Carmel's outraged. She storms around to Nancy's flat in search of Zoe who can barely defend herself. Nancy argues the point with Zoe, but there's no disguising the simple fact that Theresa was underage. Admitting she was wrong, Zoe resolves to quit her role with Buff TV, while Theresa's adamant that she's giving up on education.

2637: Ravi starts to lose control
Airs on Tuesday, September 1 2009 at 18:30 BST on Channel 4

Ravi struggles to regain some control of his life while dealing with his aneurysm. He asks Ash to arrange another fight, leaving his brother alarmed by the suggestion. Ash is further shocked to learn from Leila how aggressive Ravi became with her the previous night. Fearing for their brother's mental state, Ash and Leila mull telling their parents but Ash decides to spare Ravi the shame and speak to him himself.

Ravi tries to speak to Loretta to explain what happened during their date but Loretta's distant, leaving Ravi worried that he's blown his chances. When Leila helps Anita pick out clothes for her first day at sixth form, Anita notices the bruises on her sister's arms, leaving Leila with no choice but to tell Anita what Ravi did. Leila insists it was a one-off but Anita can't help being worried.

Later, Ravi presses Ash to fix up his next fight, but Ash firmly tells him to see his doctor instead. Realising the consequences of his actions, Ravi attempts to apologise to Leila but only succeeds in seeing how wary his sisters have become of him. Trying to make amends, Ravi buys Leila a charm bracelet and gives Anita a gift voucher to buy new clothes.

Ravi confides in Ash and tries to persuade him to let him fight as it's an outlet for his otherwise uncontrollable rage. Instead, Ash calls his promoters to tell them that Ravi's fighting days are over. On learning what his brother's done, Ravi becomes aggressive with Ash who loses patience and tells his brother that he's now on his own.

Meanwhile, Theresa's determined to pursue a career as a glamour model. When she hears the news that she's got through to a photo shoot in Manchester, Carmel's quick to encourage her to stay at school. When Theresa shows an interest in breast implants and avoids eating to look good for her shoot, Carmel worries that Theresa's trying to do too much too soon and tries to persuade her to consider her options more carefully.

Deciding to take a more proactive approach, Carmel solicits Nancy's help in talking to Theresa. Nancy tells her that she has potential and is capable of achieving A Levels, but Theresa sticks to her guns. Nancy offers to enrol Theresa in college regardless as a fallback plan in case her modeling career doesn't work out.

After threatening to call Buff TV and tell them that Theresa's underage, Carmel agrees to a compromise with her cousin.

Elsewhere, Jacqui tries to overcome her despair of being separated from her son. Crossing paths with Tony, she thanks him for his previous advice to move on and attempts to be more positive, but when Tony tells her about his and Cindy's engagement, she's secretly devastated.

Growing despondent, Jacqui confides in Carmel about her worries and Carmel encourages her be more optimistic. Taking her sister's advice, Jacqui digs through the rubbish for Des's phone number - which Carmel promptly produces.

Just as her date with Des begins, however, Jacqui receives a call informing her that her son has been spotted in Italy. Buoyed by the news, Jacqui abandons her date and hurries home to make travel plans, leaving a disappointed Des behind.

2638: Carmel tries to blend in at sixth form
Airs on Wednesday, September 2 2009 at 18:30 BST on Channel 4

Ravi remains awkward around his family as he continues to struggle with his aneurysm. As Bel celebrates her birthday, Ash ingratiates himself to their mother while still harbouring a grudge against Ravi. Ravi apologises to Leila for his temperament and although Leila gives him some reassurance, she remains worried.

As they talk it through, things begin to thaw between the siblings as Leila tells Ravi about Elliot and Ravi explains about Loretta. When Ash sees them together, he begins to feel pushed out and tries to move in on Loretta, only to be frustrated further when she agrees to another date with Ravi.

Ash decides to make a move on Loretta to spite Ravi and tries to kiss her in Tan 'N' Tumble. However, when Ravi catches him in the act, he flies at his brother, pinning him up against the wall outside. Bel, Gov, Leila and Anita pass by at that very moment and are shocked to witness Ravi's aggressive outburst. Gov tries to break the pair up, but Ravi turns on his father in a blind rage. Leila rushes in and stops Ravi before he completely loses control.

Seeing the look of horror on the faces of his loved ones, a shameful Ravi walks away. Ravi decides to take control in the only way he knows how - and makes a call to arrange another fight.

Meanwhile, Jacqui applies for a loan in an attempt to track down her son in Italy. Myra's alarmed when she sees the figure of £5,000 on the application form and confronts Jacqui about her motives. When Jacqui tells her mother there's been a sighting of Russ and a baby in Italy, Myra replies that she had already been told by Carmel.

Jacqui's angry at her mother for prying and although Myra's sympathetic to her cause, she tells Jacqui that she can't let her take such a huge risk. To save Jacqui from the futility of it all, Myra burns the loan application form.

Myra comforts a tearful Jacqui and makes her realise that the odds of tracking down Russ and Max in Italy by herself are almost non-existent. Facing up to reality, Jacqui invites Des for a drink to make the most of what she has.

Elsewhere, Carmel pursues her dream of going back to school and dresses as Theresa in an attempt to take her cousin's place at sixth form. As the likes of Lauren and Anita get used to their new common room, Carmel strides in putting on an unconvincing student act. Lauren and Anita point out the absurdity of her plan and that everyone knows who she is, but Carmel's having too much fun to stop.

As she continues to play the part, Carmel's masquerade as Theresa starts to unravel as she finds herself out of touch with the students and unable to keep up in class. Finding the pressure too much to handle, Carmel confesses the truth to Des.

Returning home upset, Carmel's comforted by Des who offers her a chance to be a part of the school as its new cheerleading coach. Carmel's elated.

2639: Ash sends Ravi into a coma
Airs on Thursday, September 3 2009 at 18:30 BST on Channel 4

Ravi's furious after walking in on what he believed to be Ash and Loretta kissing. Ash assures his brother that there was nothing to it but to cover his own back, Ash tells Ravi that Loretta was flirting with him and giving him the come on. Still angry and feeling mollycoddled by everyone, Ravi loses it with Loretta when she innocently admits that she and Ash were having a laugh. Ravi becomes so angry that Loretta panics that he's about to lash out. Seeing her panic, Ravi backs off but feels even worse than he did before.

After a run in with Kris, Ravi tells him that he's going to fight and despite Kris's protests, Ravi leaves. A frantic Kris finds Anita and tells her what's happened and it's not long before Bel, Ash, Loretta, Kris and Anita are on their way to the wasteland in an attempt to stop Ravi from doing something he may live to regret.

Arriving at the fight site, Bel screams for Ravi to stop fighting and much to the annoyance of the crowd - and Ravi - the fight is halted. Ravi's livid and tries to provoke Ash. Ash, however, starts to walk away but Ravi persists, eventually pushing his brother too far. With that, Ash lashes out and punches Ravi.

Anita, Bel, Loretta, Kris and Ash all look on in horror as Ravi falls to the floor unconscious, unsure whether Ash's blow has been fatal.

Meanwhile, Carmel's in a chirpy mood, excited about her forthcoming cheerleading classes at Hollyoaks High. Theresa's still wrapped up in becoming a model and pays little attention to what Carmel's doing - that is until she decides that cheerleading could work well alongside her modelling career. Theresa thinks it's a given that she'll become head cheerleader, despite Carmel insisting that she'll be given the same chance as everybody else.

At school, Theresa expects everyone to notice her after her TV appearance but nobody bats an eyelid. While talking about the cheerleading club, Lauren mocks Theresa for wanting to be part of it, claiming that Newt hates that kind of thing.

At the club, Carmel gets into the swing of things and attempts to teach the group a basic routine. To her frustration, nobody manages to follow - including Theresa. However, the group's stunned into silence when Lauren delivers a step-perfect routine. Theresa's furious.

At the end of the class, Theresa's mood darkens when she overhears Carmel asking Lauren to be head cheerleader - an offer that Lauren takes great pleasure in refusing.

Elsewhere, things are still tense between Leila and Elliot, with Leila now frantically worrying about Ravi and his aneurysm. Elliot's mother Bonnie's call with the news that he's featured in a physics magazine is a welcome distraction. With that, Elliot and Leila set off in search of a shop that sells it.

Leila raises the subject of his father Gareth who's also in the magazine alongside Elliot but it's a touchy subject and Elliot immediately becomes snappy. Leila decides to push Elliot to talk about his dad but is left hurt when Elliot tells her that she's to blame for his recent family upset.

2640: Ash admits to knowing of Ravi's condition
Airs on Friday, September 4 2009 at 18:30 BST on Channel 4

The Roys are devastated about Ravi's condition and they're fearing the worst. After punching Ravi, Ash knows that he's responsible for his brother's coma but hides his guilt and anxiety from the rest of the family. Kris and Loretta, however, continue to pile on the pressure, until Ash snaps - completely unaware that Anita's listening in. Anita's not so convinced over Ash's innocence and when she hears Kris accuses Ash of letting Ravi fight when he knew it could kill him, Anita's gobsmacked.

The Roys are stunned when the police arrive to question Ash over his alleged assault on Ravi. Ash is sure that it was Kris who called them until Anita admits to making the call. Bel and Gov are angry at Anita for causing more upset, insisting they need to stick together. However, when Anita tries to explain why she called the police, Gov and Bel don't want to hear it.

The guilt of almost killing his brother continues to weigh heavy on Ash until he finally breaks, admitting that he let Ravi fight even though he knew about his aneurysm. Shocked by Ash's revelation, Gov tells Ash to leave.

Meanwhile, Newt returns to the village a day early, much to the delight of Theresa who can't wait to tell him about her Buff TV shoot. Before Newt gets anywhere, Des stops him in his tracks, insisting that he fasten up his shirt as his t-shirt is offensive.

Entering the common room, Newt's shocked to see Theresa watching a DVD of her Buff TV spot alongside a gang of leering lads. Theresa confesses to Newt that she went ahead with the shoot despite his reservations and although he's not best pleased, he can see that it's what Theresa wants.

In class, someone's drawn a raunchy picture of Theresa on the whiteboard and the lads continue to snigger around her - something that doesn't go unnoticed by Newt. Another run in with Des causes Newt to snap at a surprised Theresa.

Newt admits that he's not comfortable with her glamour modelling and forces her to choose what she wants the most - the modelling or him. A stubborn and determined Theresa refuses to back down, walking away before he can see her tears.

Elsewhere, a frantic Leila arrives at the hospital with no idea about what's happened to Ravi. When she learns thathis aneurysm has ruptured because he was fighting illegally, she's totally confused but too consumed with guilt to ask questions.

When Gov and Bel are told they can visit Ravi before his operation, Leila begs to go, fearing that it may be the last time she sees her brother. Unable to deal with anyone else, Leila runs straight out of the hospital followed by a confused Elliot.

Back at home, Leila admits to Elliot that she believes what's happened to Ravi is all down to karma after her disastrous interference in Elliot's family life. Elliot tries to make her see sense and persuades her to go back to the hospital to be with her family.

Leila's confused to find out that Ash has been interviewed by the police and when Ash later breaks down - admitting he's to blame for Ravi being in hospital – Leila's left reeling.
