It’s the morning of Claire’s (Julia Haworth) charity fete but what starts out as a fun filled family day turns out to be more dramatic than any of the residents could ever have imagined.
Claire’s in her element as she rushes round organising all the stalls. But as she gets caught up in the excitement of her fundraising she hasn’t got time to listen to Joshua (Benjamin Beresford) when he complains his mouth hurts. Little does she know that Joshua has swallowed a bee. As he suffers a severe case of anaphylactic shock he collapses in front of Janice (Vicky Entwistle).

Meanwhile Norris (Malcolm Hebden) refuses to join Emily (Eileen Derbyshire) and Rita (Barbara Knox) as they run the cakes stall and sits alone at home. However he’s disturbed by a knock on the door from the police. They reveal that Ramsay died on the flight to Australia. As Norris sits alone in shock Emily admits to Rita how much Ramsay meant to her. It’s clear the news is going to have a big impact on them both.

Elsewhere Kevin (Michael LeVell) and Molly (Vicky Binns) take part in the charity race. Sophie’s (Brooke Vincent) there to cheer Kevin on but Molly’s left without a supporter when Tyrone (Alan Halsall) gets called out on a break-down. Will he get back in time to see her cross the finish line or will she end up in Kevin‘s arms?

This episode is written by Damon Rochefort and produced by Kim Crowther, the director is Duncan Foster.

Monday 31 August [2]

Janice (Vicky Entwistle) can see Joshua’s (Benjamin Beresford) life is in danger and acting quickly she puts her first aid skills into practice placing him in the recovery position and telling Ashley (Steven Arnold) to phone for an ambulance. As he’s rushed to hospital, Ashley and Claire (Julia Haworth) pray that Janice has done enough to save Josh’s life.

Elsewhere Rita (Barbara Knox) breaks the terrible news to Emily (Eileen Derbyshire) that Ramsay is dead. Emily’s visibly shaken, especially when she discovers he had a brain tumour and knew he was dying. As it becomes clear Ramsay wanted to make up with Norris before his death Norris (Malcolm Hebden) pretends he doesn’t care but Emily loses her temper and lets rip at Norris, telling exactly what she thinks of both him and Ramsay. Battling his emotions Norris heads to his mother’s grave where he finds flowers laid by his dead brother.

Kevin (Michael Le Vell) and Molly (Vicky Binns) finish their race. Sophie (Brooke Vincent) congratulates her dad before heading off to the fete. Tyrone hasn’t made it and left alone Kevin and Molly can’t resist each other. Unable to suppress their passion they head to a hotel room where they admit this is what they both want.

Back at the fete Teresa (Karen Henthorn) and Umed (Harish Patel) embark upon a ‘curry challenge’. Graeme (Craig Gazey) wins the raffle and returns the Ricky Hatton signed boxing gloves to Ashley.

Confiding in Kevin (Michael Le Vell) he asks if she complained to him but Kevin guiltily reassures him. Despite his guilt Kevin can’t resist Molly and they decide to enter another run as a cover. Jack (William Tarmey) meanwhile is feeling more and more in the way at number 9 as Molly and Tyrone bicker and tells the couple he intends to move out. Tyrone’s upset but Molly ruefully states that you can’t prevent someone from doing what they want.

After thanking Janice (Vicky Entwistle) for helping save Joshua’s life Ashley (Steven Arnold) decides it’s time he came clean to Claire (Julia Haworth) about the vasectomy. Plucking up the courage he tells Claire he didn’t go through with the operation. How will she react?

Norris (Malcolm Hebden) storms out of the Kabin when he and Rita (Barbara Knox) row over his treatment of Ramsay. Visiting his mother’s grave again Norris is in a contemplative mood but will he admit his regret at the way he and Ramsay parted?

Friday 4 September [1]

Steve (Simon Gregson) goes chasing a drug-dealer whom Becky (Katherine Kelly) thinks may lead him to Slug. Liz (Beverley Callard) disapproves, and while Becky resolves to enjoy what freedom she has left with Steve, Liz makes it clear it’s no life being married to a prisoner.
When she then overhears Liz and Deirdre (Anne Kirkbride) talking about the effect her imprisonment would have on Steve and Amy, Becky decides to take action. Steve is stunned to find a note from Becky revealing she‘s gone.

Sally (Sally Whittaker) plans a surprise dinner party for Kevin’s (Michael Le Vell) belated birthday celebrations. An uneasy Molly (Vicky Binns) is roped in to help with the food, while Tyrone (Alan Halsall) keeps Kevin occupied. But unable to bear the awkwardness Molly warns Kevin about his surprise. Kevin’s barely able to hide his discomfort as he’s greeted by Sally, the Dobbs and the bickering Peacocks.

Emily’s (Eileen Derbyshire) upset that Ramsay’s cremation will take place in Australia as she‘s desperate to pay her respects to the man she‘d grown so fond of. Rita (Barbara Knox) tackles Norris (Malcolm Hebden), suggesting the arrangements could be changed. Will Norris back down and let go of his emotions?.

Elsewhere Claire’s (Julia Haworth) still angry with Ashley (Steven Arnold), believing he refused the vasectomy in case he ever wants children with another woman. Connie (Rita May) suggests Jack (William Tarmey) move in with her. Will he accept her offer?

Kevin’s (Michael Le Vell) surprise dinner party is underway but it quickly turns into the night from hell as all three couples use the evening to vent their frustrations over their marriages.

Janice Battersby puts her first-aid training to good use when little Joshua Peacock swallows a bee.

The gobby knicker-stitcher comes to the rescue when Josh goes into anaphylactic shock after been stung in the mouth.

With Josh’s stepmum Claire too busy organising her charity fete to notice, Janice puts the lad into the recovery position until an ambulance arrives.

But her quick thinking may not be enough to save the young football fan’s life as Claire and hubby Ashley face another horrifying wait to see if he will pull through.

Our Coronation Street insider told us: “It has been a horrible year for Ashley and Claire and that continues when it’s Josh’s turn to fight for his life.

“Claire is getting her life back on track after her recent miscarriage and own near death experience.

“She decides to get involved with the local charity fair to take her mind off everything.

“The troubled mum is soon in her element rushing around organising all the stalls but in her enthusiasm she fails to realise that Josh is in danger.

“As he is rushed to hospital, all Ashley and Claire can do is pray that Janice has done enough to save his life.”

The drama can be seen a week tomorrow (August 31) at 7.30pm on ITV1.
