Hollyoaks character Ash Roy will leave the soap next month after his parents disown him, producers have confirmed.
The scheming entrepreneur, played by Junade Khan, will be ostracised when his mother and father find out he knowingly put brother Ravi's (Stephen Uppal) life in danger by letting him fight.
Ravi emerges from the fight unharmed, but his brain aneurysm ruptures after Ash later punches him, causing him to fall into a coma.
Reeling from his family's rejection, Ash reveals "a shocking family secret" to one of his siblings, with disastrous consequences, a soap spokesman said.
Shocked and ashamed of their son's behaviour, dad Gov (Anthony Bunsee) and mum Bel (Nila Aalia) feel that to save their family they must force Ash out of Hollyoaks village for good.
Speaking about his time in the soap, Khan said: "I've loved every minute and learnt so much in 10 months at Hollyoaks. I'm so grateful for the opportunity and I wish everyone all the best in the future."
Hollyoaks' series producer Lucy Allan said: "Junade has been a valued member of the cast over the last year. We've enjoyed watching Ash cause trouble in the village and look forward to the emotionally charged scenes that will see him leave. We wish Junade all the very best."
Khan will appear in his final episodes as Ash Roy will air on the Channel 4 soap in the week commencing September 7.
