Nicola (Nicola Wheeler) is worried when she notices Carl (Tom Lister) isn’t sharing Lexi’s (Sally Oliver) enthusiasm for the IVF and when she overhears him telling Jimmy (Nick Miles) not to release the money to Scarlett (Kelsey Beth Crossley), she’s furious and tells him if he doesn’t tell Lexi what he really wants then she’ll tell her herself. Feeling cornered, Carl confesses to a devastated Lexi that he doesn’t want a baby – he can’t pretend anymore, he’s felt this way for a while but hasn’t had the heart to tell her. Confused, Lexi tries to persuade him to change his mind but Carl’s adamant and infuriates her when he reveals he went along with it because he felt sorry for her. Nicola arrives to find Lexi in floods of tears having thrown Carl out of the house. She tries to comfort her but Lexi’s upset when Nicola claims she knew Carl had his doubts all along and she was the one who prompted him to come clean. Infuriated, Lexi rails at Nicola blaming her for making Carl tell the truth and accusing her of wanting to split them up. As Nicola follows her upstairs and tries to calm her down, Lexi lashes out and accidentally causes Nicola to lose her footing and fall downstairs. Panicking, Lexi calls an ambulance and is distraught when Carl arrives home to see Nicola unconscious at the bottom of the stairs.. Will Nicola and the baby be okay? Will Lexi be forgiven if they’re not?

Meanwhile, Lily (Anne Charleston) is giving away her worldly possessions ready to hit the road, but Eddy (Paul Darrow) realises how upset she is about leaving without Edna’s (Shirley Stelfox) approval and tells Edna her attitude to her sister is unchristian. Edna’s in turmoil about what to do, and as Lily and Eddy are about to set off, Lily’s upset that her sister hasn’t come to wave her off with the rest of the villagers. Will Edna let her sister go without saying goodbye?

Elsewhere, Betty (Paula Tilbrook) speculates that Val (Charlie Hardwick) has had an affair, while Diane (Elizabeth Estensen) is finding it increasingly difficult to work with her sister. Marlon (Mark Charnock) suggests they draw up a rota to ensure Val and Diane no longer have to work together for the sake of the customers. Will they resolve their differences?

Tuesday 4 August

At the hospital, Carl (Tom Lister), Rodney (Patrick Mower) and Lexi (Sally Oliver) wait for news about Nicola (Nicola Wheeler) and its clear Carl blames her. The doctor eventually informs them she’s well enough for visitors, but Lexi is left feeling isolated when Carl tells her she’s the one who put Nicola in hospital and she’s the last person she’d want to see. Later, seeing Nicola is alone, Lexi cautiously goes to apologise to her. However, Nicola’s fuming, and as she tells Lexi to face the truth that Carl is a coward , she goes into premature labour. The doctors try and delay the labour but Carl continues to lay into Lexi, blaming her for bringing it on. Lexi despairs that maybe she should just leave and when Carl doesn’t disagree, Lexi turns and walks away feeling utterly cast out. Jimmy (Nick Miles) finally arrives at the hospital and Carl apologises to them for Lexi’s actions. Nicola and Jimmy assert that this isn’t all Lexi’s fault, he’s to blame as well. Seeing Carl about to protest, Jimmy snaps he could have lost Nicola and his baby because of this and warns Carl to sort it out with Lexi – he needs to decide if he wants to be her husband or not before he destroys her life and everyone else’s. Will Carl confront his true feelings for Lexi?

Elsewhere, Pollard (Chris Chittell) returns from the doctors with David (Matthew Wolfenden) and is glad his blood pressure is lower than expected. Spotting them, Val (Charlie Hardwick) hurries over to ask if he remembered the appointment, but he cuts her off, clearly not ready to forgive her. Val’s gutted to be cut out of his life and is left hurt and defeated when Diane (Elizabeth Estensen) makes it clear she wants nothing to do with her either. How will Val win back their trust?

Also, sick of being caught up in the cross fire between Brenda and Viv (Deena Payne), Gennie takes up Leyla’s (Rokhsaneh Ghawam-Shahidi) offer of a spare room at Katie’s house.

Brenda (Lesley Dunlop) continues to hide her loan repayment letters from Terry (Billy Hartman), who’s delighted when he gets the loan to buy Louise out of the B&B.

Wednesday 5 August

Nicola (Nicola Wheeler) finally concedes to a relieved Lexi (Sally Oliver) that she was harsh to blame her after what Carl had put her through. Meanwhile, Jimmy (Nick Miles) firmly tells Carl (Tom Lister) if he doesn’t sort things out with Lexi (Sally Oliver), or have the courage to cut her loose, he and Nicola will have to find somewhere else to live. However, Lexi’s shocked when Carl tells her they’ve been destroying each other for months and now they’re hurting everyone around them, he finally builds up the courage to tell her he thinks they have no choice but to split up. Desperate, Lexi assures him that he means more to her than having a baby - they love each other and they can’t give up without a fight. Carl weakly agrees to give it a try, but it’s clear his heart isn’t in it. How long can he keep it up?

In the cafe, Val (Charlie Hardwick) realises the extent of her wrongdoing when she compiles a list of everything she’s ever done to upset people. Meanwhile, David (Matthew Wolfenden) has managed to persuade Pollard (Chris Chittell) to let him move back in with him, and when Val arrives at the cottage with a bowl of soup, telling him she just wants a chat to make things right between them, Pollard remains strong as he asserts he doesn’t need her - now that David has moved in he has people around him who really care about him. Val’s left feeling dejected and begins making amends by apologising to everyone on her list – she starts to realise she’s offended half the village over the years!

Meanwhile, Bob (Tony Audenshaw) tries to keep the peace as tensions rise between Viv (Deena Payne) and Brenda (Lesley Dunlop). Brenda’s so worried about her loan repayments and finally snaps when Viv criticises her sandwich making. Bob confronts her about overreacting and Brenda admits it’s not just Viv. Brenda hesitantly confides she’s in a financial mess and doesn’t know what to do. Bob’s horrified when he realises Brenda approached the loan sharks to help him out and tells her she has to speak to Terry (Billy Hartman). However, he’s so pleased about getting the loan for the B&B and she can’t bring herself to tell him while he’s celebrating his future. Will Brenda confess?

Also, Ryan (James Sutton) takes a liking to Katie (Sammy Winward) despite Nathan (Lyndon Ogbourne) warning him off her. And Jamie (Alex Carter) tries to hide his jealousy when Gennie (Sian Reece Williams) receives a post card from Dominic - her holiday romance.

Thursday 6 August

Brenda (Lesley Dunlop) is preoccupied with her financial worries and still hasn’t had the courage to tell Terry what’s going on. At the café, relations between Viv (Deena Payne) and Brenda are more fraught than ever, but Bob (Tony Audenshaw) asserts they can’t afford to buy Brenda out, so they’re stuck together whether they like it or not. Enraged Viv eavesdrops as Bob asks Brenda how it went with Terry (Billy Hartman) and she breaks down, confessing she doesn’t have the heart to burst his bubble and reveal she’s bankrupt for fear that he’ll end things with her. Viv wastes no time in informing a stunned Terry that his girlfriend has been lying to him and she’s actually bankrupt. Brenda’s shocked when she arrives home to find Viv there, and is mortified when Terry reveals he knows everything. Will he forgive her? Or will Brenda lose her partner and her business?

Nicola (Nicola Wheeler) is indignant when she discovers Jimmy (Nick Miles) has told the Wyldes she’s started her maternity leave and heads off for work, despite Jimmy’s protests. Fed up of everyone fussing around her, Nicola orders Jimmy to go home and once Doug (Duncan Preston) and Leyla (Rokhsaneh Ghawam – Shahidi) head home, Rodney (Patrick Mower) arrives to check after Jimmy has sent him to check up on her. Frustrated, Nicola locks herself in the shop to keep Rodney out and as she puts her keys down, they slide off the counter and under the unit…

Meanwhile, at the B&B Val (Charlie Hardwick) is preening herself in a bid to win Pollard (Chris Chittell) back and leaves Diane (Elizabeth Estensen) unconvinced about her new manifesto to right every wrong she’s ever committed. When Pollard arrives in the pub prepared to face Val, she assures him she’s a changed woman. Both Diane and Pollard remain cynical, but there’s a glimmer that Pollard might be softening towards her.

Also, (Kim Thomson)is pleased as Nathan (Lyndon Ogbourne) and Ryan (James Sutton) continue to befriend one another.

Thursday 6 August [2]

Trapped in the shop in the throes of labour, Nicola (Nicola Wheeler) struggles to retrieve her phone. Rodney (Patrick Mower) realises she’s in trouble and enlists Cain’s help (Jeff Hordley) to break into the shop. Unable to wait for the ambulance to arrive, they head to the hospital in Rodney’s van, joined by Lexi (Sally Oliver). Terrified Nicola is desperate to hold off the birth, she’s wheeled into delivery and Jimmy asks an upset Lexi to leave. As the labour gets underway, Jimmy (Nick Miles) tries his best to calm Nicola but ends up getting punched in the nose when Nicola is gripped by another agonising contraction. As Jimmy holds his bleeding nose, they manage to deliver the baby girl naturally but she’s rushed straight to an incubator. Jimmy follows not wanting to let the baby out of his sight and Nicola tells him she loves him. As Lexi looks on at Nicola and Jimmy united over the new baby, she yearns for a family of her own.

Meanwhile, Terry (Billy Hartman) reassures a relieved Brenda (Lesley Dunlop) that they’ll sort out their money worries together and Brenda is determined to sort Viv out once and for all. Arriving at the pub she tells her to set her own life in order before she ruins hers. Back at home, she tells Terry she feels like a liability and she thinks its best if she moves on - he deserves better than a middle aged failure. However, Terry assures her that she means more to him than anything else and he won’t let her walk away. Will he help her out and sacrifice his dreams of owning the B&B?

In the pub, Nathan (Lyndon Ogbourne) speaks to Natasha on the phone whilst she’s on holiday and reveals Faye (Kim Thomson) and Ryan (James Sutton) have moved into the village. Mark (Maxwell Caulfield) is annoyed to witness Nathan and Ryan getting close and forces Nathan to stay and sort out the mess in the shop in a bid to stop him socializing with his secret brother. Later, Mark confronts Faye about encouraging their relationship but she’s indignant and claims its only right he should get to know his brother. Ryan arrives home to find Mark talking to his mother and tells him his dirty secret is safe with him, its not Nathan’s fault that his dad is a sleaze. Will Nathan discover Mark’s secret?

Friday 7 August

Natasha (Amanda Donohoe) has returned from holiday early and heads straight over to Faye’s (Kim Thomson) house with a bottle of wine. Cain (Jeff Hordley) watches in the distance as Faye reluctantly invites Natasha in and takes great delight in informing Mark (Maxwell Caulfied) that his two favourite women are having a chat at Faye’s house. Natasha is firm as she reminds Faye about their agreement that she’d disappear and leave them alone. However, Faye seems unfazed by Natasha’s threats and claims she’ll do whatever is best for Ryan and if that means him finding out the truth then so be it. Natasha’s reiterates that Mark is not interested in her or Ryan and is furious when Faye reveals that Mark rescued Ryan from the crash at the shop. Angry that Ryan and Nathan are bonding she’s determined to put a stop to it and is enraged when Mark suggests they pack up and leave the village. Refusing to be driven out of her own home by Faye, Natasha vows to scupper her plans to use Ryan to win Mark back.

Brenda (Lesley Dunlop) feels terrible that her actions have forced Terry (Billy Hartman) to give up his chance to make his dreams of the B&B a reality, but Terry assures her that she’s more important to him and decides to part with his savings.

Meanwhile, Jimmy (Nick Miles) and Nicola (Nicola Wheeler) have been reassured the baby is going to be okay and are besotted with her. However, Carl (Tom Lister) continues to snap at Lexi (Sally Oliver) and feels uncomfortable being around the baby with her. Will he confront his problems with Lexi once and for all?
