Thought this might be of interest to some of you, I must admit, I would never have thought of trying to earn money this way.
I could never do that, Id be rubbish
You wouldn't be rubbish, I am sure. You just go through the neighbourhood and leave the brochures. After that you just take the orders and deliver the goodies or hold a party at a friend's house. :)
I used to do Avon a few years ago and tbh, the rewards aren't that great. In a neighbourhood of ~300 houses, I had 20 customers with about half of those regularly ordering.
Once you've bought campaign books and everything else, your 23% commission seems to disappear.
It's not something you can do five days a week unless you have a big patch and lots of customers.
I never realised, it seems like hard work now you have described how it works.
my mum has been doing this for years but only to family and friends (she doesn't go door to door) and it is just so we have an avon rep to go to... without it we wouldn't have a clue who to contact

If you go on their website, you can get a list of reps in your area :)

There are a few girls in my workplace who do this. For our office size and then then getting orders from people in their local area too I can I only imagine how lucrative this could be! But it sounds like a lot of work!

We have one at work. Just for staff... sooo no-one is going door to door and the profits gooo to our workplace (school). A win-win situation... though id im bored at lunchtime, I tend to pick up the brochure and end up ordering a load of stuff, I dont need or really want... :o

There's a woman who lives around the corner from where I used to live she has been doing Avon for over 30 years she has made a fortune from it .Though she does the whole of the neighbourhood and goes out in all weather collecting and delverying orders.

How does it all work? How much money can you actually earn from being a rep?
23% is the average commission. Obviously the more you sell, the more you earn. Out of that 23% you have to buy campaign books which are a fiver a pack.

Is it really worth it?
Can you really make a fortune or is that just a myth?
You only make big money if you're a team leader or area manager. You can't make a living from Avon if you're at the bottom of the chain, which most reps are.

How easy is it for someone starting at the bottom to work their way up the chain?
I wouldn't know to be honest. You have to have large enough sales to get promoted to team leader, then you take a percentage of your team's sales.

it's not so easy then as the ads make out!

It does sound like it's definitely a job to dooo as a sideline line rather than a main job.
I guess if you have a lot of peeps at your work place who would order stuff from Avon on a regular basis... it could be a nice little earner, and it wouldnt involve doing too much work.

I'm considering doing this as a sideline........
