I am getting SKY next week.
But I've been reading on internet tonight, you need a phoneline to do so? But then others are saying you don't?
Does anyone know which is true?
Don't want to ring SKY if I don't have to, if someone knows the definate answer.
A phoneline for what? Do you mean a landline?

sarah you do need landline for sky so the interactive services works
i hope this helps
You need a landline for the initial install, but otherwise, you actually don't need one, except for the interactive services. A message will come up saying about ensuring its connected to a phone line at all times, but press back up and it works with no problems.

Not strictly true. You don't need a phone line at all, but Sky will charge you £15 (last time I checked). Ask for manual enablement.
We dont have ours plugged into the landline and it works fine

Thats what I meant :) - saves you £15 (or whatever they may decide to raise it to) if you "have" a phone line for them to use for install.

but if you dont have one then its cheaper to pay the £15 than to pay to install a landline
I wasn't saying that - I was saying that Sky TV works absolutely fine if you don't have a phone line! IF you don't have a phone line, I wouldn't for a minute suggest that you install one for £120.
The OP said, do you need a phone line for Sky - I said no you don't.
Yup. I have Sky multiroom working without phone lines.

oh sorry i wasnt saying that either. you just said you save £15 (ish) if you do have one. i know you werent suggesting you get a phoneline installed for it, i was just saying that if you didnt have one £15 would be the cheaper option (if that makes sense)

Yeah, says £25 on the letter I recieved, not to worry. Least I don't have to mess around with the phone line stuff :)
