Joel is the final link to this whole Ronnie/Dannielle and Ronnie's past, which i feel still needs to be explored

I want to learn more about Joel, we were suppose to hear more about him, i remember D.Santer saying that we will but we havent so far, here is the bit from his DS Interview (http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/soaps/a154156/diederick-santer-executive-producer-eastenders.html) - I think that recent events have awakened her need to be a mother and thoughts turn in the next few months to motherhood and whether she'll get the chance to be a mother again. And more importantly, if she does, who with. It also sends her back into the past. I'm not going to say we'll be seeing Joel or not, but we'll definitely be talking about him. After all, Joel's the only remaining link to Danielle.

Also another thing is how come we havent seen Ronnie not contacting him again esp since he wrote to her and Archie burned it in front of Ronnie, i am pretty sure she hadnt read the letter, isnt she curious to know more like what was in the letter :confused:

I dont think Joel even knew Ronnie was pregnant but i agree i would love to see him on the show or Ronnie even visit him and tell him about Danielle

well if he didnt know about danielle at the time, im sure he does now cos ronnie must have mentioned it in the letter she wrote to joel. im guessing after archie burnt the letter she decided she should move on with her life as joel obviously had from what she saw when she went to his house. shes probably not even thought about letting him know shes died

Ronnie hasnt had no closure from her past, and the remaining link to all of this is Joel


I am guessing Joel did know, either he walked awy from Ronnie when he found out or he was made to walk away by Archie, Archie might have threaten him to stay away, its just something Archie would do

I thought that Joel might have known that Ronnie was pregnant at the time as when his friend Lee saw her at the school reunion he asked if she was going to give Joel a picture of the kid; or something along those lines. I've always thought also that Archie would have threatened Joel into staying away.

With the letter; I've been curious as to why Joel hasn't queried why Ronnie didn't answer his letter. She clearly wanted to speak to him as she made the first move. If Joel had said anything nasty in the letter and didn't want Ronnie to contact him again I would have expected Archie to push her into visiting Joel somehow so that Joel would be cruel to her face and Ronnie would be hurt some more.

no we dont know for sure. however i think the point of the scene was to show that joel had another kid and had moved on with his life in comparison to ronnie

Thats what Ronnie must of thought as well, no wonder she walked away, still not really having any closure

ive just thought, ronnie doesnt need to tell him that danielle has died cos as far as joels concerned he thinks shes dead anyway cos wasnt the reason ronnie wrote the letter to him in the first place was to tell him that danielle/amy had died when she was younger (after archie told her she had)? therefore joel already thinks/knows that danielle is dead so why would ronnie need to tell him? she would have to explain everything that happened and the outcome is still the same, danielle is dead so i dont think joel really needs to be told again. its not like he still believes his daughter is alive

EastEnders' Ronnie Mitchell is to get a blast from the past when her first love Joel Reynolds turns up in Albert Square.

Star of BBC Three's Pulling, Cavan Clerkin will take on the role of Ronnie's (Samantha Womack) old flame and father to her now-dead daughter Danielle Jones (Lauren Crace).

As the only remaining link to Danielle, Ronnie's previously toyed with the idea of meeting up with him and even attended a school reunion with Christian (John Partridge) in the hope that he would be there.

When he failed to show, she subsequently turned up on his doorstep wishing to talk through their past. However, as one of his daughters answered the door, Ronnie bolted from the scene.

With Janine (Charlie Brooks) and Archie (Larry Lamb) scheming behind Ronnie's back in a bid to manipulate her back into the family fold, she's dumbfounded when she finds Joel sat before her in The Vic.

Archie's livid by Janine's interference, while Ronnie's somewhat taken by his reappearance in her life. Will they manage to pick up where they left off all those years ago?

Speaking of his new role, Clerkin said: "It's fantastic being on set in Albert Square, it's such an iconic place and I'm really enjoying working with the wonderful cast, especially Samantha Womack. Joel is a nice guy who fantasises about a future with an amazingly beautiful woman, so that's something a lot of men may relate too!"

Executive producer Diederick Santer commented: "We first heard about Joel - Ronnie's childhood sweetheart and the father of Danielle - nearly two years ago. And finally we get to see him."

He added: "Cavan Clerkin is a delightful and subtle actor with a big funny bone. He's grabbed this enigmatic and rather odd character and made it his own."

Clerkin makes his screen debut as Joel on Thursday, August 6.

POTD: Archie tells Janine about Joel in 'Enders

EastEnders' Janine Butcher (Charlie Brooks) meets with Archie (Larry Lamb) in the café during tonight's episode of the Walford soap to discuss his daughter Ronnie's (Samantha Womack) liaison with Ryan (Neil McDermott) the previous day.

When Archie suggests that Ronnie's more than likely using Ryan in an attempt to become pregnant, Janine's interest is piqued. Archie goes on to reveal all about his daughter's first love and father to Danielle, Joel Reynolds - soon to be played by former Pulling actor Cavan Clerkin.

Armed with a fresh insight into Ronnie's life, Janine heads over to The Vic, where she sneakily informs Ryan about Ronnie's maternal aspirations, before sneaking upstairs to steal the eldest Mitchell sister's address book...

EASTENDERS' hard-nosed blonde Ronnie Mitchell wraps her arms around her former teenage sweetheart Joel Reynolds - the father of her tragic daughter Danielle.

She drops a bottle of champagne in shock when scheming Janine Butcher (Charlie Brooks) sets up a meeting at The Queen Vic this Thursday.

And when Ronnie (Samantha Womack) visits Joel at work next week the couple embrace warmly.

A soap insider said: "Ronnie's always had a soft spot for Joel. She thinks everything could be perfect with him."

Joel, played by Cavan Clerkin from BBC sitcom Pulling, doesn't know Danielle (Lauren Crace) died in a hit-and-run.

Ronnie found out she was the daughter she'd given up for adoption only moments before the tragedy earlier this year.

Ronnie's evil dad Archie (Larry Lamb) told Ronnie she had died.

Now he is angry that Joel is back in her life.

SHE has been secretly trying to get pregnant for months. Now it seems Ronnie's wish has finally come true as she tells Peggy she thinks she's expecting Joel's baby!

Ronnie's joy at the thought of the patter of tiny feet is very different from her state of mind early in the week. She realises Roxy blabbed to Sam and Peggy about her bid to have a baby with Joel - and is furious!

When Ronnie lays into Sam for being lazy and taking cash from Peggy, she replies that at least she isn't trying to fall pregnant without her boyfriend's consent.

Angry Ronnie has a go at Roxy for spilling the beans, but calms down when her sister reveals that Peggy had guessed anyway.

Later, Ronnie can't contain her delight and tells Peggy she thinks she has succeeded in conceiving!

Peggy's pleased - but how will Joel react to being tricked into becoming a father if Ronnie's instincts are right?

The couple were torn apart when she was pregnant with Danielle all those years ago. Can Joel cope with another baby drama - and Ronnie lying to him again?

"It's no secret Ronnie wants a child," teases Samantha Womack, who plays her. "But you'll have to wait and see what happens."
