The '70s Hanna-Barbera cartoon Hong Kong Phooey will be turned into a feature film, according to Variety.
Alcon Entertainment has hired Alex Zamm to direct the live-action/animation hybrid movie from a script by David Goodman. Alcon's Broderick Johnson and Andrew Kosove are serving as producers alongside Brett Ratner and Jay Stern.
Hong Kong Phooey debuted in 1974 and ran for 16 episodes on ABC. Scatman Crothers provided the voice of the eponymous character, a police station janitor called Penron Pooch who fights crime using his martial arts skills.
Zamm's directing credits include straight-to-DVD Inspector Gadget and
Dr Dolittle sequels, while Goodman is an executive producer on Family Guy.
Yeahhh, great news :cheer:
