Coronation Street is turning the famous soap cobbles pink as they celebrate the launch of the street's first gay nightclub.
According to The Star, filming in the club, which has yet to be named, will begin tomorrow and the scenes will be aired at the end of the summer.
A source explained: "We usually use [London's] Canal Street for all of our gay club scenes because they have been so good to us over the years."
Advertisement"But this storyline is going to last for a long time so it made sense for us to build our own place rather than be on location for weeks on end."
The plotline will focus on Anthony Cotton's character Sean Tully when he meets a new guy at the gym.
In order to impress his new crush, Sean pretends that he used to date Jason Grimshaw, (Ryan Thomas), despite the fact that Jason is heterosexual.
Sean convinces Jason to enter the Mr Weatherfield contest, which the builder does when he hears about the cash prize.
The source added: "His [Jason's] girlfriend Tina is miffed he's passing himself off as gay but when she learns he has won all that money she keeps her temper in check.
"She thinks it's a one-off so she won't be happy when she finds out he's thinking about competing nationally!"
