HARDMAN Phil Mitchell plots to gun down his step-dad Archie when he makes a shock return to the Square.

Archie fled after his wedding to Peggy (Barbara Windsor, 71) when the Mitchell clan discovered his evil antics and involvement in Danielle’s death.

Phil (Steve McFadden, 50) tortured Archie (Larry Lamb, 65) at his garage and warned the pensioner he would finish him off if he ever came back.

The grease monkey clashes with Archie after spotting him trying to worm his way back into Peggy’s life at the Queen Vic.

A show insider said: “Phil did Archie a favour by not killing him the first time around when he was ordered to by Peggy.

“At the last minute he let him go.

“But now Archie is back and Phil is regretting not bumping him off.”

Have you forgotten Phil Mitchell has the Met Police in his back pocket as well as the PPS. Remeber when he got caught with a gun and escaped from the nick and still got off. Either a brilliant brief or shoddy scriptwriting. You Decide!!!!!!

HE feud between the Mitchell men turns deadly as Phil threatens to shoot Archie dead.

Phil is furious when he sees that Archie has returned to the Square.

And with Peggy weakening and thinking of taking her husband back, Phil is ready to commit murder.

"It's not long before Archie gets close to Peggy again," revealed Larry Lamb, who plays the baddie.

"She's seeking affection and is prepared to look on the bright side of things with Archie."

First, Phil discovers Archie is back in Walford and hits the bottle.

When he sees Archie talking to Ben, he snaps and meets a criminal contact * who hands him a gun.

Phil heads to Archie's house and goes upstairs * where he finds Archie and Peggy kissing.

"It all turns ugly," said Larry.

"There's a big confrontation."

Later, Phil gives Archie a final warning to stay away from his family * and drops a bullet into his whisky glass.

But despite Phil's threats, Archie again visits Peggy and says: "If you don't want me, Phil might as well shoot me!"

"Archie's not going to be put off," explained Larry.

"He's determined to get what he wants * and that's Peggy."

But as Phil returns to Archie's and says he is going to take him to a nearby forest to shoot him, will Archie ever see his wife again?

Why is Peggy and Roxy so forgiving of Archie?

Roxy is his daughter and has always been 'Daddy's Girl'. Peggy obviously loved him dearly and you can't turn off feelings like a tap so he still has some effect on her.

i can sort of understand roxy forgiving him as shes always been a daddys girl and has always thought ronnie was over exaggerating what their dad is like, and also she doesnt really have anyone atm and she really relies on people. dont really know why peggy has forgiven him though
