Coronation Street's Jason Grimshaw - played by 25-year-old Ryan Thomas - looks to have potentially found 'the one' in Tina McIntrye (Michelle Keegan) as the pair fire up a relationship on the cobbles. However, the path of happiness is, as ever, blocked by none other than Tina's ex-boyfriend David Platt (Jack P. Shepherd). So what's to come for Jason and Tina? Is Jason still pining for his estranged wife Sarah? And will we ever see Jason's brother Todd back in Weatherfield? We gave Ryan a call to find out.

What were your first thoughts when you were told that they'd be throwing Jason and Tina together?
"I just thought it was really good for their storylines because I knew it'd bring the Platts and the Grimshaws back together in their usual warring ways. Who could forget the famous fight on the cobbles between Gail and Eileen? I think at some point that'll come again. There's always banter from one side of the Street to the other."

Apart from the obvious, what attracts Jason to Tina?
"I think it's because she's quite full-on with Jason. She made a big effort with him in the beginning, so he just played off that and spiced up his life a bit in the process. He wanted a bit more fun than just sitting there having a pint in The Rovers every day."

It all came a little out of the blue, didn't it?
"Yeah, Jason completely wasn't aware that Tina fancied him. She had to come onto him to make him realise, but as soon as he got the sign, he was in there! It doesn't take him long to get his pants off! I think Jason was playing with the situation a bit as well to see what he could get out of her. When he started getting the right signals, he just thought 'I might as well have a go'. They seem to be very happy at the moment."

Did the fact that Tina went out with David have any impact on Jason's decision to start seeing her?
"I don't think he wants to step on David's toes, no! I think he'd rather have an easy life!"

Do you think Jason and Tina work well together?
Yeah, I do. What we're doing at the moment is really great material and it's nice to see them happy and playing off each other. There's hopefully more of them together."

What's the general feel about where the relationship's going?
"I think it's quite serious. They're really trying to make it work."

Wedding bells on the horizon, then?
"Ohh, there always is in Corrie isn't there?! We've had that many weddings, I can't keep up!"

Is Tina 'the one' for Jason?
"I don't think that's possible in soapland because things always change. I wouldn't like to say she's 'the one' because it could all end in tears when the storyline comes to a head. At the moment, Jason's found someone that he's comfortable with. He's not getting spoken down to, either. The girls that Jason's fallen for in the past, someone's never right. I think in Tina, he's found someone who he can have a comfortable relationship with, where he's not having to worry too much about her. It's effortless for them. It's nice to see."

Do you think Jason still loves Sarah at all?
"I've always said that he'll always hold a flame for Sarah - and he makes little jokes about the situation and you could tell her loved her when he was with Becky - but now, he's really playing it down, almost like he's over her. He's not forgotten her, but he's starting to move on."

Jason can't seem to shake off David, can he?
"No, he'll never shake David off. The storyliners love to see David battering Jason!"

You've been getting naked quite a lot on screen quite recently. Do you think that the producers are quite partial to seeing a bit of flesh?
"I think they want to see a bit more nakedness, yeah! It's all fun and games and Jason's a builder having a bit of a laugh. He doesn't take things too seriously. I don't mind getting naked in the right context. I think he just shows off for Tina, too. She says 'get your pants down', Jason gets his pants down!"

What's it like working with Sue Cleaver?
"She's fab. She's a well-loved character and a well-loved mum. Sue brings all of our scenes to life. She's the rock of our family, too."

Jason has a great dynamic with his brother Todd. Would you like to see Bruno Langley back again?
"I really do hope so. We were just talking about that before. I did mention it to Kim [Crowther] at a meeting to see if there was any chance, but I just don't think the time's right for Todd to be back yet. But eventually, fingers crossed, he'll return."

How's life as a new dad treating you?
"Life being a dad is absolutely fantastic. I love it to bits."

Have you been up to see your brother Adam at Emmerdale yet?
"I haven't yet, but I'm sure I'll get the guided tour at some point. I forget that he's in Emmerdale until I'm asked about it at the moment because he's not even on screen yet! He's really enjoying himself. I was well chuffed for him when I found out."

CORONATION Street is to screen its raunchiest-ever sex scenes that will push the boundaries of decency on primetime TV.

And bosses at Britains longest-running soap are bracing themselves for a backlash from loyal viewers.

The explicit storyline, which will be aired before the 9pm watershed for adult scenes, involves saucy Rosie Webster bedding builder Jason Grimshaw.

Viewers will see the smouldering couple tear off each others clothes before writhing semi-naked on the floor, gasping with pleasure.

Rosie, played by Helen Flanagan, 20, has turned up the heat in Weatherfield with a string of raunchy liaisons since she turned to her teens.

But her passionate romp with Jason, played by Ryan Thomas, 26, is believed to be the most explicit scene yet.

A show insider told The People: These episodes will be, without a doubt, the hottest ever shown by any soap.

The crew and cameramen are already bribing each other for places on set when the scenes are filmed.

But as with any scenes like this, we are bracing ourselves for a backlash of complaints.

The sizzling sexual tension between the lusty pair will come to a head after Jason drives wannabe model Rosie to a photo-shoot and gets roped into the action when a male model fails to turn up.

Desperate to stop her big break falling through, Rosie begs her pal to step in, pleading: Please Jason. This is the job that Ive been dreaming about.

Writhe

After seeing Rosie in her skimpy lingerie, Jason doesnt need asking twice happily stepping into a pair of micro-briefs that barely cover his modesty.

Sultry Rosie is stunned by the transformation in her friend.

The half-naked pair then pose in a series of provocative positions, both becoming turned on when Rosie is asked to lay on Jasons chest and wrap her arms and leg around his bare torso.

Viewers will see the couple getting more hot and bothered as the photographer encourages Rosie to writhe against Jason while fondling and caressing him.

At one point, aroused Jason bites his lip with embarrassment after Rosie tries to reassure him about the job, whispering: Its not very hard, is it.

But the real action comes after the shoot when the pair return to Rosies empty house and their pent-up frustration gets the better of them.

Leaping on each other, they begin kissing passionately while breathlessly tearing at their clothes.

In his haste to strip, Jason sends a lamp crashing to the floor but is urged on by Rosie who pants: No please dont stop. Ignore it. Its just a bit of old tat that my mum bought on the market.

The semi-naked couple then fall on the sofa and tumble on to the floor in their desperation to grope each others bodies.

As they writhe on the carpet the camera pans away from them leaving Rosies squeals of pleasure to do the talking.

Our source said: Despite the decision to stick to tradition and keep the actual sex scene private, everyone knows this episode is going to provoke a wave of complaints.

Some people are going to feel that the scenes are far too explicit for a programme shown before the watershed time.

But after careful deliberations, the producers decided it was worth the backlash that we might have to deal with. Now everyone is talking about the impact it is going to have when the show is screened in a few months we are expecting it to be explosive.

The controversial storyline to be screened on Friday October 22 will open ITV to fresh accusations it is resorting to salacious material to boost ratings.

But the claims will be no surprise to actress Helen, who has played the part since she was nine. She created a stir in 2007 when student Rosie began an affair with tutor John Stape.

The storyline caused such distress among viewers that it was blamed for triggering an attack on actor Graeme Hawley, 36, earlier this year.

And in 2008, Helen sexed up the street again when her character dressed in knickers and a skimpy corset in a bid to seduce a man twice her age factory boss Tony Gordon played by Gray OBrien, 41.

Months later, scenes of the scantily-clad babe performing a striptease to lure back lover Luke Strong (Craig Kelly, 39) had to be cut because they were too raunchy.

Instead the saucy footage was posted online, showing Rosie {throwing off her coat to reveal yet another sexy basque, stockings and suspenders. Jason Grimshaw has had his flings, too last year he romped with Tina McIntyre, played by Michelle Keegan, 23.

Helen, who was nominated for Sexiest Female at the British Soap Awards this year, has made no secret of her love for Rosies racy antics.

She said: I love Rosies tarty outfits the worse they are, the better because they really help me get into character.

The scene where Rosie stood in the street wearing just a corset and suspenders was fantastic. The corset was from Agent Provocateur and I love their stuff. I didnt feel self-conscious at all.

We all have to learn to love ourselves. I also love Rosie she is a great character.

SEXPOT Rosie Webster is left begging for it when her new hunk chooses to spend a night with a cement-mixer rather than romp with her.

Rosie will get it together with Street hunk Jason Grimshaw after the two of them end up doing a sexy photo-shoot modelling underwear.

After getting hot and steamy on set the pair will be left panting for more and end up enjoying a wild sex session.

But Jason (Ryan Thomas, 26) is gutted the next morning when Rosie (Helen Flanagan, 20) acts as though nothing happened.

Desperate to share her bed again, Jason decides to play hard to get in the hope that it will turn her on.

The lad’s cool approach pays dividends when Rosie begins to hint at a repeat performance.

Realising his “can’t be bothered” act is working so well, Jason pushes it further by telling her: “Look, I’d like to do it again but I’m up early in the morning and I’ve got to pick up a cement-mixer from the hire shop before they close.”

In scenes to be screened in late autumn, Rosie, left, is devastated at the prospect of having to play second fiddle to a cement-mixer, and gasps: “I don’t believe this.

“Are you telling me that you’d choose to sort out a cement mixer rather than me?

“OK, if you want me to beg then I will.

“But there’s no way you’re leaving this house until we have more of what we had the other night.”

And as she locks the door, Rosie giggles to a victorious Jason: “Race you upstairs – last one in bed’s a sissy.”

SEXY Corrie star Helen Flanagan serves up a new dish for Rovers fans - herself in a Lancashire hotspot bikini.

Helen, who plays minx Rosie Webster, is about to start a steamy on-screen affair where we see a lot more than just her Rosie cheeks.

And she has revealed exactly how she gets in the mood for what promise to be the Street's sexiest scenes ever - by fantasising about her real-life footballer boyfriend.

So it sounds like ex-Chelsea star Scott Sinclair, 21, will be on her mind a lot! And these exclusive first pics of her flaunting her curves on a beach in Mallorca show viewers are in for a treat.

In the show she romps with Ryan Thomas, 26, who plays builder Jason Grimshaw, after he's persuaded to help her on a saucy photo-shoot.

Helen, 20, who has Swansea City player Scott's name tattooed on her thigh, said: "I've got three underwear scenes coming up.

"But it's all fun, it's just my character. I am in love off-screen and I will be able to put that into my role.

"If you've had those experiences and can feel those emotions you can convey them into the character."

In the show, saucy Rosie has often shocked viewers with her revealing undies.

Her latest sizzling sex scenes could give elderly Street fans a Corrie-nary.

Coronation Street star Ryan Thomas has revealed that viewers can expect "all kinds of naughtiness" when his character Jason Grimshaw embarks on a fling with Rosie Webster.

As reported back in August, the Weatherfield duo will sleep together later this month, in what are expected to be the soap's raunchiest ever scenes.

Speaking to the Daily Star Sunday, Thomas explained: "In all the years I've been at Corrie, I've never had a reaction quite like it. Everyone remembers those scenes where Rosie Webster tried to seduce Tony Gordon wearing that basque. Well trust me, what she gets up to with Jason is even hotter.

"There's stripping and all sorts of naughtiness between these two. I've never known a reaction like it. A lot of people who have watched the scenes keep telling me how amazing Jason and Rosie are together."

Pondering the pair's long-term future, he continued: "Rosie is very feisty and poor Jason hasn't been very lucky when it comes to matters of the heart, so it's going to be interesting to see whether or not they'll go the distance. All I know is that the bosses like us together, so it's definitely going to go on for a little while yet."

Helen Flanagan, who plays Rosie, recently said that she was pleased with the forthcoming scenes, describing them as "all fun".

CORRIE'S Rosie Webster and Jason Grimshaw are set to become Weatherfield's answer to Jordan and Alex Reid.
Bimbo Rosie - played by Helen Flanagan - gets together with builder Jason (Ryan Thomas) after they take part in a steamy photoshoot.

She ditches her plans to snare a footballer and become a WAG as she sees their future as a celebrity couple.

A source told TV Biz: "Rosie realises they could make money together. Before long she's telling everyone they'll be the new Jordan and Alex Reid. :rotfl:

"They're perfectly matched intellectually - Jason is as thick as two short planks, while Rosie wasn't nicknamed Dozy at school for nothing."

The sizzling scenes are due to be screened on the ITV soap later this month - but not everyone's happy.

The source added: "Jason's mum Eileen rightly has Rosie down as a superficial airhead, while Rosie's mum Sally didn't scrimp to send her to private school for nothing."

Alex Reid has admitted that he has mixed feelings over rumours that he will be mentioned in a forthcoming Coronation Street storyline.

Earlier this month, it was reported that Weatherfield's Rosie Webster will soon start telling everyone that she and Jason Grimshaw could be "the new Jordan and Alex Reid" as she aims to become one half of a celebrity couple.

However, writing in his Star magazine column, Reid confessed that he is not fully happy with the comparison after the article in question stated that "Jason is as thick as two short planks, while Rosie wasn't nicknamed Dozy at school for nothing".

The cage fighter said: "I hear Jason Grimshaw and Rosie Webster are being billed as the new 'Jordan and Alex' on the show.

"On the one hand, it is flattering that we are used as a cultural reference point and that people are talking about us. But on the other, I don't like being described as a 'thicko' - who would? I hate this perception that all cage fighters are brain-dead morons."

He added: "I also think it must be weird for my dad. He is a big fan of Corrie, and - while he is proud of me - things like this will also hurt him."

Reid had a soap career of his own back in 2001 when he played the role of footballer Jason Cunliffe on Hollyoaks.

RACY Rosie Webster proved too hot to handle for some Corrie viewers on Monday.

They complained to TV watchdog Ofcom that the top worn by Helen Flanagan, 20, was too saucy to be shown before the 9pm watershed. :searchme:

One parent complained: “She was dressed like a tart. It was totally inappropriate for that time of night.”

Ofcom have had complaints about the 8.30pm episode, but sources claim it is unlikely they will take the matter further.

But Corrie had better brace themselves for a new rumpus as Rosie and builder Jason Grimshaw strip off for a lingerie ad.

Poor Jason (Ryan Thomas, 26) is roped in after giving Rosie a lift to the space-themed photoshoot with the slogan “In space no-one can hear you scream”.

And they become an item after getting turned on in front of the camera. They can’t keep their hands off each other and end up getting frisky in his builder’s van.

A show spokeswoman said: “Rosie then sees her and Jason as Weatherfield’s answer to Katie and Peter.

“She hasn’t quite managed to hit the big time on her own so sees an opportunity to create a new Rosie and Jason brand.”

Meanwhile, last orders have been called for Liz McDonald. Actress Beverley Callard, 53, is quitting the soap as the bubbly Rovers landlady, but she is not being killed off.

Bev wants to do more TV projects and is set to marry partner Jon McEwan. The star had a five-year break from the show in the 90s, and took time off with depression after a breakdown last year.

Last night Bev said: “I’m looking forward to seeing what life has to offer beyond Liz’s famous miniskirts!”

Producer Phil Collinson said: “We all wish her well and hope to see Liz return some time in the future.”

Coronation Street star Helen Flanagan has admitted that her first on-screen kiss with Ryan Thomas was "weird".

The actress, who plays Rosie Webster in the ITV1 soap, revealed that she sees Thomas (Jason Grimshaw) as a brother, but soon got used to their characters' relationship.

Speaking of her new storyline, she told The Mirror: "Trust the writers to give it to me! I didn't have time to worry about it - or hit the gym! Ryan and I are like brother and sister so the first kiss was weird, but once we got that out of the way it was fine.

"It wasn't as passionate as it looked as Ryan was in agony from an infected tooth. But I'm glad Rosie has got a boyfriend - it shows she has a heart."

Referring to the show's upcoming 50th birthday celebrations, she added: "I've grown up on the cobbles - I started when I was nine - so the 50th anniversary is going to be emotional! It's such a legendary time to be in Coronation Street. I don't know whether Rosie will be in Corrie for 50 years though!"

Flanagan also talked about Sally Whittaker, who plays her on-screen mum, and her battle with cancer. She said: "Filming the scenes when she really did have breast cancer in real life were so emotional and difficult.

"Sally's not just my screen mum but like my real mum. It sounds a bit weird but she's like an angel to me."

Following their lingerie shoot a heated romance between Rosie Webster and Jason Grimshaw - and turns them into Weatherfield's answer to Katie Price and Peter Andre.
Hunky builder Jason (Ryan Thomas) is roped into stripping off after giving Rosie (Helen Flanagan) a lift to the saucy shoot.
The male model booked for the job doesn't show up so the photographer gets him in as a replacement - with a little help from Rosie.
And things soon start to get steamy for the camera as Jason poses in next to nothing.
This picture shows what the ad might look like - using Kings of Silk, a customer of the Street's Underworld - as the lingerie brand, which has the slogan: In Space No One Can Hear You Scream!
When the job is over the pair drive back to Coronation Street in Jason's van - and it doesn't take long for them to get passionate for real.
After they hook up Rosie plans to make the most of their image as Weatherfield's hottest new couple.
A Corrie spokesman said: "Rosie does see her and Jason as Weatherfield's answer to Katie and Peter. She hasn't quite managed to hit the big time on her own so she sees an opportunity to create a new Rosie and Jason brand."
The pair will appear in the Coronation Street spin-off DVD A Knight's Tale, which is out next month.

Coronation Street actress Helen Flanagan has backed the decision to pair up Rosie Webster and Jason Grimshaw in the soap's latest romance storyline.

Last week, Flanagan's character gave into temptation and slept with Jason (Ryan Thomas) after they unexpectedly teamed up for a steamy underwear photoshoot.

Speaking to The Bolton News about the plot, Flanagan commented: "I'm so happy they've put us together because we work well together and, of course, Ryan's a good friend.

"I think it's a really good storyline because my character has never really had a boyfriend since Craig when she was 16. It's really nice for a guy to take Rosie seriously and not treat her badly."

She added: "It's kind of maturing for the character."

Flanagan and Thomas recently predicted that Rosie and Jason's fling could develop into a full-blown love story.

Coronation Street star Ryan Thomas has said that he wants "fun" times ahead on the cobbles for his character Jason Grimshaw.

Jason will be left heartbroken later this week as his girlfriend Rosie Webster dumps him to take part in a reality TV show in London. The plot twist is Helen Flanagan's exit storyline as she recently decided to leave the soap.

Speaking to Lorraine about what could be next for Jason, Thomas explained: "I know the direction it's going. I'm not allowed to say too much about it, but I know that they're putting me with [different] people and I don't know what's going to happen there. But that should be exciting for him.

"I just want Jason to have a bit of fun. He's been tied to that relationship and he always seems to get into relationships too quickly."

Thomas also confirmed that he will miss Flanagan following her recent departure from the programme.

"In real life, she is the funniest person ever," he commented. "We will [miss her], yeah. Obviously a lot of people come and go over the years, but when you work so closely with someone… She's a massive character and she will be missed.

"They've kept the door wide open for Helen. People like to spread their wings, go out there and see what the real world is about, because we're a big bubble in that show. We wish Helen all the best."

Coronation Street airs Rosie's exit episodes on Friday at 7.30pm and 8.30pm on ITV1.

Coronation Street star Ryan Thomas has revealed that his character Jason Grimshaw is about to get a new love interest.

The builder *recently enjoyed a fling with Rovers Return landlady Stella Price (Michelle Collins), but is currently single after the pair split.

Asked who Jason's ideal woman would be, Thomas told the Sunday Mirror: "I'd pick Deirdre. I love Annie (Kirkbride) and we have a right good laugh. I think that would be quite funny.

"Or Liz McDonald. I'm really pleased Bev (Callard) is coming back. That would cause problems for Steve and I'd love that, to be sat there with his mum on the couch."

On filming scenes with Collins, he added: "I said to her, 'You know what, when I was about 12 I used to really fancy Cindy Beale. If someone would have told me that years later I'd be copping off with you I'd never have believed it'.

"It was like living every teenager's dream, so I really enjoyed the *storyline. She's a great actress and I'd like them to get back together."

Coronation Star Ryan Thomas has revealed that his character Jason Grimshaw is scared for the safety of his former girlfriend Stella Price.

Viewers will see Karl lose his temper with Jason next week and reveal that it was him who torched his van.

Thomas said: "He is concerned about Stella. The love he had for her has been replaced by a need to protect her.

"He's so suspicious of Karl and worried about Stella's safety. He's being a bit of a spy and trying to puzzle all the pieces together.

"He thinks Stella doesn't really know Karl as much as she thinks she does. Karl's threatening behaviour has just increased his suspicions that he started the Rover's fire, so his concern for Stella is growing."

Jason's suspicions over Karl's involvement in the fire are further increased when he is told that Karl wasn't around much on the Full Monty night.

Thomas said: "It's another part of the puzzle coming together. He's banging his head against a brick wall with Dev because he's just trying to drill his suspicions into him and trying to push the evidence forward.

"With Dev having so much going on after losing his wife and struggling to come to terms with it, Jason's having a bit of a nightmare and feels like he's fighting a losing battle.

"As soon as he gets one little bit of evidence he clings on to it. The more evidence he gets the better his story is and it's more believable."

JASON GRIMSHAW TO SUFFER BRUTAL ATTACK IN SHOCKING NEW PLOT
Coronation Street will air a dark storyline later this year when Jason Grimshaw is brutally attacked by a gang of thugs.
Jason will be left fighting for his life after the vicious beating, which is plotted by twisted Callum Logan.
Callum will vow revenge on Jason after the builder steps in to stop him threatening the Platt family, and viewers will be shocked by the severity of Jason's attack as it becomes evident just how evil Callum can really be.
Show boss Stuart Blackburn previously hinted at the story when he revealed that the Grimshaw brothers would cross paths with Sarah and Callum.
As doctors battle to save a seriously injured Jason, his devastated parents Eileen and Tony will be seen holding a vigil at the hospital as they fear he could die.
The assault is also set to send shockwaves through Weatherfield as residents try to make sense of what happened on their doorstep.
Fans will have to wait and see how the rest of the story plays out but The Sun reports that when Sarah discovers Callum was behind the vicious beating, she will waste no time in telling Tony.

Yesterday, it was revealed that Jason will become the victim of a brutal attack when bad boy Callum Logan (Sean Ward) arranges for him to be beaten up.

The shock incident will take place after Jason starts to challenge the villain, keen to protect the Platt family after Callum becomes more of a menacing presence on the Street.

Thomas confirmed the reports on ITV's This Morning today (July 21), explaining: "It's been great. Sean is really amazing. He's a breath of fresh air - him and Tez, who's come into the show and plays my dad. I've been working with them both a lot and it's enjoyable.

"It's different for Jason's character because he's normally playing the loveable family guy. It's just a change of character for him where he gets to be a little bit more aggressive and protective over his family and people around him. He's got a lot to do with Sarah and Bethany, protecting them and the Platts. There's a lot of fighting going on!"

He jokingly added: "There are great hospital scenes. I came back from Ibiza on the Sunday, I was in work on the Monday and I slept all day in a hospital bed! The director said to me, 'Can you stop snoring?' It was the best bit of acting I've ever done!"

Thomas also said that he is delighted his co-star Catherine Tyldesley is now back on set playing Jason's ex-girlfriend Eva Price. Tyldesley returned to filming last week after a six-month maternity break.

"She's great, it's like she's not been gone," Thomas commented. "She's fitted straight back in, because that's what a character like that does - it's easy for them to come in and start again and pick up where they left off. It's been great working with her."

Coronation Street's Jason Grimshaw is viciously beaten after being called out on bogus job by pretty blonde in a set-up by drug dealer Callum Logan
The future is not looking bright for Coronation Street's Jason Grimshaw.
Weatherfield's beloved builder is beaten to a pulp and left fighting for his life when he's called out on a bogus job and beaten up by a bunch of heavies.
In scenes filmed on Monday, Jason (Ryan Thomas) can be seen chatting outside with the pretty blonde who lures him to her home with the promise of work.
him, drug dealer Callum Logan (Sean Ward) has got to her first and it's all one big set-up.
Jason arrives at the flat with his tool box only to discover Callum is there waiting for him. And he's not alone...
Callum is out to hurt Jason after he tried to get him to stop threatening the Platts.
Callum, who is set to embroil Bethany Platt in a drug-deal, then orders a revenge attack on Jason. And he doesn't hold back.
Eileen (Sue Cleaver) and dad Tony (Terence Maynard) are left praying that he'll pull through but what will Jason's hard man dad do when he finds out who's responsible for his son's fragile state?
According to reports, the gang's attack on Jason is 'truly sickening' and will definitely shock viewers.
'But that is exactly what bosses want to achieve,' a show source told the Sun. 'They want to show fans how evil Callum can be when he puts his mind to it.'
and Ryan, Sean and the blonde woman are seen chatting on set. The pair clearly get along well off screen with Sean passing Ryan the book he's been reading between scenes.
Jason is very much able-bodied and all three appear to be in great spirits before the drama unfolds inside the flat.
Jason has been on the Street since 2000 and had a brush with death back in 2007 when David Platt sabotaged some scaffolding, sending Jason plummeting to the ground.
in Ryan's on-screen tale comes as his co-star Craig Charles showed off his DJing skills at Beatyard Festival in Dublin on Sunday night.
The 51-year-old actor, who is best knows at Weatherfield's Lloyd Mullaney, worked up a sweat as he played his favourite funk and soul tunes to the crowd.
Afterwards he took time out to hug all of his fans once he'd wrapped up at 10.30pm.

Coronation Street star Ryan Thomas QUITS the cobbles and plans to head for Hollywood

The actor, who plays builder Jason Grimshaw, has set his sights on a movie career in the USA and will quit the soap next summer

Career builder: Ryan Thomas will head to Hollywood to try to become a film star
Corrie star Ryan Thomas is to quit the show – and has set his sights on a Hollywood movie career.

The actor, who plays builder Jason Grimshaw, joined the ITV soap 15 years ago as a teenager and said he felt it was “time to spread my wings and try other roles”.

He told bosses he had taken the decision to “pursue new challenges”.

Ryan, 31, said: “It has been a great privilege to be in Coronation Street – the cast and crew are among the best in the business. To be a part of it for so long has been an amazing experience.

Teacher of the Year Elaine Wyllie, on stage Ryan Thomas with Carol Vorderman
“The decision to leave was extremely difficult. I’m just excited now to see what exit storyline the writers give Jason.”

Producer Stuart Blackburn paid tribute to the star, whose final scenes will air next summer.

Blackburn said: “Ryan has been an important part of Coronation Street for 15 years.

“We wish him every success when he moves on next year and we appreciate his desire to try new things.

Tony Stewart [TERRENCE MAYNARD] and Jason Grimshaw’s [RYAN THOMAS]Street star: As Jason with on-screen dad Tony (Terrence Maynard)
“In the coming months he’ll be at the heart of a massive story, affecting not just his family but the Websters and the Windasses too which will take us well into 2016.”

Before announcing his decision today, Ryan hinted at the Pride of Britain Awards last week that he was ready to quit.

He said he would love to make a name for himself in the movie capital of the world.

He said: “Going to Hollywood is a dream so I’m going to see what happens.

“We can always dream. I’ve been on the show for 15 years now, I always pinch myself, I’m blessed.”

Ryan would not be the first Corrie star to become a hit in the US.

Matthew Marsden , 42, who played mechanic Chris Collins in the late 1990s, went on to appear in Hollywood films and American TV shows such as Helen of Troy.

Michelle Keegan , who was Tina McIntyre in the Street, also said she wanted to “try something” in the US.

Ryan, who is believed to earn around £90,000 a year for his role in Corrie, was declared bankrupt in 2013 over an unpaid tax bill of up to £40,000.

Can't say I'll be sorry to see him go. While Todd has gone from unlikeable to actually quite amusing at times, Jason is just the same. I think Thomas is limited in his acting ability and I'll bet he wants to return in a year or so from his departure. Very few make it in Hollywood so I think he is dreaming (especially having done nothing that I've heard of except play Jason in 15 years.) I would however prefer to see his even less talented brother leaving Emmerdale than this. Tony has been growing on me recently and I wonder if it'll be another case of collateral damage where Terence Maynard is concerned.

If he is planning on Hollywood, what about his poor daughter? I thought they were co-parenting. If his decision has been made because Tina returned then I don't feel sorry for him; he ended the relationship, not her. However if Stuart Blackburn came up with the idea of Sarah and Jason reuniting and he's gone because of that, then I do have sympathy. Their daughter is about 7 now so if the characters reunited and someone told her "your mummy and daddy were kissing on TV last night" she might think it was real and that they were getting back together.

I am surprised. Having been bankrupt 2 years ago, I thought he'd want a few more years' salary for financial security first. He was one of those I thought would try to hold on for life.

Pretty sure Terence Maynard said something about his exit storyline involving the Windasses and the Websters, so Im guessing Gary finds out about him and Alya; Perhaps he'll kill him off? Can't really see the link with the Websters though, maybe they might bring back Rosie or get Anna and Kevin together.

Ryan Thomas admits that he's feeling nerves as he prepares to leave Coronation Street.

Last October, the 31-year-old Manchester native announced that he would be quitting the role of Jason Grimshaw in 2016.

Chatting about his exit with OK!, Thomas acknowledged that he has mixed feelings about departing the long-running soap.

"'[I'm] scared and excited," he said. "I'm feeling a mixed bag of emotions as I don't feel like I know anything else."

He continued: "It's the biggest decision I have ever made in my whole career. I am going to miss my Corrie family so much."

Thomas has played the role of Jason Grimshaw on the cobbles dating all the way back to 2000.

His final storyline is expected to play out on Coronation Street this summer.

Coronation Street's Jason Grimshaw will take centre stage in an exciting new storyline after he gets a windfall of money.

Jason will learn that his dad Tony Stewart has left him £80,000 following his death, forcing him to make some big decisions about his future.

It was announced last month that Tony will be killed off-screen in a tragedy that will devastate his son Jason, who later attends his funeral.

However, The Sun reports that Tony's death is set to spark a series of explosive new storylines for a newly-rich Jason, which will eventually lead to his exit later this year.

Ryan Thomas confirmed last year that he would be bowing out of the soap, after 15 years of playing the builder.

Coronation Street's Jason Grimshaw will go off the rails later this month after his father Tony Stewart tragically dies.

Tony, who was last seen on our screens in November, passes away off screen following a suspected heart attack.

Jason (Ryan Thomas) and Eileen are both shellshocked when police arrive on the cobbles to break the devastating news, especially when they reveal that Tony may have lain dead for three days without anyone knowing.

As it all starts to sink in, Jason decides that he blames Liz McDonald for Tony's sad demise. It's just the grief talking, but he convinces himself that if it wasn't for Liz, Tony would have still been living near his family and they could have saved him.

Unfortunately, this turns out to be just the start of a big downward spiral for Jason. He becomes even more upset after facing the tough task of packing up Tony's belongings at his flat, as well as picking out a suit for him to be buried in.

After the tough day, Eva Price and Aidan Connor (Shayne Ward) try their best to comfort a grief-stricken Jason back at The Rovers, but he soon turns against them and gives Aidan a violent shove. Is Jason's anger spiralling out of control?

Coronation Street star Ryan Thomas has revealed that he's still in the dark over Jason Grimshaw's exit storyline.

The actor shocked fans last October when he announced his decision to bow out from his role as Jason to "pursue new challenges" after 15 years.

Viewers can still expect a few twists and turns on the way for Jason before he leaves in the summer, starting next week when he learns that his father Tony Stewart has died from a suspected heart attack.

However, asked how he's expecting to feel about filming his final scenes, Thomas replied: "I can't even begin to think about it. I don't think I can even answer that at the moment. I have no words for that one.

"I have no idea what my exit storyline is, because I don't tend to try and find that sort of stuff out."

One thing's for sure - we'll see a new side to Jason once he's heard the tragic news about Tony, as he starts to lash out at everyone around him.

"He massively directs his anger towards Liz. He needs someone to blame and Liz is that person," Thomas continued.

"It is very nasty and malicious - he decides she is to blame because she drove Tony out of Weatherfield. If she hadn't kicked him out, he wouldn't have left and would be here now.

"It is very irrational and unfair to give Liz the blame. It is out of character for Jason but so is his behaviour generally. He even calls her names and confronts her in The Rovers.

"Even though Liz is not a character that would normally stand for that sort of behaviour, I was surprised by her reaction because she just lets him do it and say those things. She takes it on the chin and feels Jason's pain and lets herself be the punch bag. She is a mum and she feels for him."

Jason also turns his anger towards Aidan Connor while drinking at The Rovers, before later making a move which could upset him even more - making a move on Eva Price.

Thomas said: "There is always something between him and Eva. He gets drunk and tries to make a move on her. She knows he is hurting. It's a shame that things didn't work out between them.

"But I think Jason thinks they have all been 'the one'! When I think about it, there was Becky and Sarah and Rosie - he loved them all and they were the ones who broke his heart and left him. Once he falls in love, he commits himself totally. They always turn his back on him."

Asked whether he wants Jason to find love again before he goes, he replied: "No, if I am being honest. There is other stuff happening in his life. I think this time if he met someone he would be the one to leave them. I don't want him to have his heart broken again. He is not prepared to commit. If he was to end up with someone, it wouldn't be for love."

Coronation Street fans will see Jason learn of Tony's death on Monday, April 25 at 7.30pm and 8.30pm on ITV.

Their relationship has been turbulent to say the least.
But Coronation Street's Jason Grimshaw is beside himself with grief as he comes to terms with the death of his father Tony Stewart as illustrated in these sneak-peek photos.
Actor Ryan Thomas is seen breaking down in tears as he and his on-screen mother Eileen (Sue Cleaver) attend Tony's funeral in an upcoming episode.
http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2016/04/06/17/32E7E4EF00000578-0-image-a-10_1459961926139.jpg
Jason is suitably styled for the sombre occasion, dressed in a navy suit, a pale blue shirt and a striped skinny tie.

He is seen being comforted by his mother Eileen as the pair sit on a bench in the cemetery awaiting the burial.
His face is evidently pained by the sudden loss of his old man who made his first reappearance in his life in 2003.

Much to Eileen's disapproval, Jason forged a relationship with Tony in 2003 and lived with him briefly. Before then the father had been absent from his son's life.
The character was then absent from the long-running ITV soap for 11 years before making a reappearance in January 2014.
Tony - was was played by Terence Maynard during his most recent soap stint - went on to enjoy a romance with Liz McDonald while having an affair with Tracy Barlow.
In July 2015, he proved just how much of a dedicated father he is by plotting revenge against Callum Logan who had badly beaten his son.
He then reconciled his relationship with Liz (Beverley Callard) but he was left humiliated when she later admitted it was only in order to get her son Steve's (Simon Gregson) share of the Rovers Return pub back.

The revelation was the nail in the coffin for Tony who decided to leave Weatherfield for good, relocating to Birmingham in scenes which aired in November.
Talking about the exit storyline, Terence told Digital Spy: 'If you can imagine being a child watching a show that you've grown up with and then being in it, it's almost surreal and I feel blessed to have been in this show.
'I'll miss it with all my heart, no doubt about that.'

Coronation Street's Jason Grimshaw tries to ban his mum Eileen from Tony Stewart's funeral next week.

The builder's behaviour is currently spiralling out of control following the tragic news that his father has died from a heart attack.

Viewers have already seen Jason (Ryan Thomas) lash out at the likes of Liz McDonald, Eva Price and Aidan Connor - but it seems that the biggest surprise is yet to come as he also turns against his own mother.

Suddenly full of bitterness and resentment over past animosity in the family, Jason tells Eileen (Sue Cleaver) that she should stay away from Tony's funeral.

Eileen is stunned by Jason's harsh words, but she eventually decides that she has every right to say her own goodbyes to Tony and heads along regardless.

When Eileen enters the church, it's just as Jason is giving an emotional eulogy. Jason is furious that Eileen has defied his wishes - and even vicar Billy Mayhew can't talk him round when he tries to defuse the situation.

Ryan shot his final scene as Jason Grimshaw on Thursday (May 26) - and was given a beautiful sendoff as his workers all gathered to say goodbye.

The actor also shared another clip of Corrie producer Kieran Roberts paying tribute to Ryan Thomas's contributions to the soap.

"It's not the job I will miss it's the people, really going to miss @itvcorrie so much it's the best 16 years of my life #goodbyejasongrimshaw #endofanera," Ryan wrote on Instagram.

Ryan announced last October that he would be bidding a fond farewell to the cobbles after a long stint as the heartthrob Jason Grimshaw.

Jason first appeared in Corrie on Christmas Day in 2000 - and over the years has become one of the soap's most popular leading men.

Jason Grimshaw's final scenes are expected to air next month.

Ryan Thomas has revealed he might go back to drama school following his Coronation Street exit.

The actor announced he was leaving his role as Jason Grimshaw last October and filmed his final scenes earlier this month, receiving a round of applause from the cast and crew.

"I want to be creative and maybe go back to drama school to learn again because I've only ever known how to be one character. So it's about a new challenge, whatever it might be," Thomas told The Mirror at the British Soap Awards.

His exit will be screened on ITV next month and the actor admitted that it was sad to leave the Cobbles, but was excited for what the future holds.

"It was so hard saying goodbye to Sue Cleaver and Bruno Langley, they have been like my family from the very beginning, we came in together and we've grown up together," Thomas expanded.

"I love them dearly. Me and Bruno were children when we came in and now we've got children. It's great. It was really lovely, there was a lot of love in one room. As cheesy as it is, we're a family."

Last week, Sue Cleaver, who played Thomas's on-screen mum Eileen Grimshaw, admitted that she was "beside herself" when the actor filmed his final scenes.

The actor's brother, Scott Thomas, will be seen in this series of Love Island and he told Digital Spy that he reckons Ryan will eventually end up doing I'm a Celebrity.

As I said on another thread recently, there doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to me as to who makes it in Hollywood. I think Ryan's acting is quite weak, but he probably stands as good a chance as any - especially if he takes acting lessons. I think there'll always be a place for him on Coronation Street though.

Those shows may come with a lump of money but letting the cameras see you as you really are is a hell of a risk career whys.

Coronation Street star Ryan Thomas waves goodbye to the show after a whopping 16 years next week, as his character Jason Grimshaw leaves Weatherfield for a fresh start in Thailand.

Jason's low-key exit storyline sees him manipulated by scheming Pat Phelan, who suggests that he should move away following all of the drama surrounding his father Tony's supposed involvement in Callum's murder.

But why did Ryan really quit the cobbles? He explains all here in an in-depth chat.

Was it a tough decision to leave Coronation Street?

"The toughest decision I've ever made, yes. Being here since I was 16, it becomes something that's just within you and it doesn't ever want to leave you. That's why I've never thought of leaving - because it's a great place to grow up and learn your craft as you go along. I think it's been the best job that I'll ever have in my life."

Did you ever expect to stay for this long?

"Well, I used to get 'three months at a time' contracts. Bruno [Langley, who plays Jason's brother Todd] was getting six months and I was getting three months! I don't know if it was to do with my behaviour when I was growing up, but I was just being a normal 16-year-old.

"I remember saying to my dad: 'I don't think I'm going to last on this'. He told me: 'Son, you'll be lucky to be there six months'. Every year goes by, I go: 'Dad, I did another year, 16 years later, I'm still here!' And now I get to make the choice to leave, which I never thought would happen."

So why have you decided to go?

"Well, let's get one thing straight - it wasn't to go to Hollywood, which everyone seems to think it was all about. A journalist said to me: 'Would Hollywood be something you'd think about?' I said: 'Hollywood is every actor's dream'. Next thing you know, it's on the front page that's why I'm leaving.

"One of the main reasons it came around is probably a lot to do with Tez [Terence Maynard] who played my dad Tony. I felt like I was working with a movie star and I was doing something that wasn't Coronation Street when I was filming with him.

"So I want a taste of something new and I want a different experience. I feel like sometimes you go round in circles with storylines and sometimes you feel there's something else out there. I feel like it's a bubble, this show. It's the best bubble but now it's time to pop it, test myself and take myself out of my comfort zone a little bit."

What are your future ambitions?

"It could be stage, it could be TV, or I could disappear and start learning my craft - start from the bottom and do some acting classes again. These are all things that I need to do because I feel like I haven't done them yet. As much as I'm very scared about going out there, it's very exciting.

"Now, more than any time, is the right time to do it. My daughter Scarlett is at an age where she's grown up a lot more now. Her mum Tina [O'Brien - Ryan's ex-partner who plays Sarah Platt in the show] is obviously here at Corrie, which is fab and it means that I'm not having to financially look after my daughter on my own.

"By leaving I've already achieved something, but I don't want anyone to have these expectations of me doing these big things. If these big things happen, they do, but I'm going to learn so much from this - both as an actor and as a human being."

Was it important for you that the door was left open, rather than Jason being killed off?

"I was very happy that they're not killing me off, but I don't want to look backwards. Everyone's going: 'Would you come back?' and I've said: 'That's not the idea. If I did that, then I wouldn't be looking at the journey ahead of me'. It's a great safety net, but that's not how I'm looking at it.

"I'm looking at it as: 'This is final, a new chapter'. I don't want to dwell on the old, because as much as I love the place and the job, it can't be something I think about because otherwise I won't succeed in my next venture."

Have you been pleased with Jason's exit storyline, including Tony's recent death?

"Massively, yeah. I'm glad that it involved the Grimshaw family. Coronation Street is all about family and to do my last scenes with Sue Cleaver [who plays Jason's mum Eileen] and with Bruno has been really special for me, because I've grown up with them. The writers have played that out beautifully.

"Tez is also like a father to me and he's been a massive impact on the end of Jason's time in Coronation Street. I talk about him a lot because I do love him a lot. It's a shame, really. I know why they did it, but it's such a shame that we can never see the character of Tony come back. That's the only downfall of playing this storyline out. But that helps because it's very emotional for all of us. He was a big part of our lives when he was here."

Why does Jason decide to go to Thailand next week?

"He doesn't decide it - Phelan does. Phelan plants all these seeds and it just becomes a bit overwhelming for Jason. There's a lot of pressure on him, because he can't hack it and he wants to get away from it all. There's a lot of encouragement from Phelan and I don't think Jason would have done it on his own.

"I've really enjoyed working with Connor [McIntyre], who plays Phelan. He's playing it out beautifully and he will continue to do that for a long, long time hopefully. I hope they drag this out for as long as they can."

Did you get emotional filming your final scenes?

"I filmed the last scene and I cried twice. The first time was when I picked up the script and that caught me off guard. It was the first time it hit me that I was leaving. Then it was the same when we rehearsed the scene where Jason says goodbye.

"Sue is like a mother to me, so it's real. I was even saying: 'Have we overplayed this?' but there's nothing you can do about it. It's genuine and how you feel about these people."

How did Sue and Bruno react when you told them you were leaving?

"They weren't happy about it at first, but as time went on, they knew it was something I have to do for me. They are very supportive and understanding. I'm a big boy now and they have to let me make my own decisions.

"Bruno's done it, Tina's done it, so I feel like I'm a bit behind and I missed out on that. I need to fill in the gaps and have what they had. They said they wouldn't take anything back, and that's great to hear."

What else can you tell us about your future plans?

"I want a complete change, so I'm moving to London. I'm looking to do some courses in drama, which will be great for me. I'm even looking at disappearing for a little bit and going under the radar.

"I love what Michelle Keegan is doing in Our Girl, so I'd love to do these big dramas. The theatre doesn't really appeal to me, but I know I have to do it to add another string to my bow. All these things will be taking me out of my comfort zone and testing me. I'm not the best singer, but I will do it and I will test myself. If it means auditioning for a musical, then I'll do it.

"I don't mind them saying no to me. Rejection is all part and parcel of it and something I need. I've never been in an audition situation apart from Corrie, and literally 15 minutes after coming here I got the part and the rest is history. I need to find out what that's like, and I'm happy not to get jobs. I need to know how that feels."

What's it been like growing up in the public eye?

"Amazing in one sense, but it's very difficult. When you're 16 and maturing through the show, you're going to make those mistakes but you're doing it in the public eye. I wanted to go to nightclubs like all my other mates and I was being told by Corrie that I couldn't. So I still went and did it and got myself in trouble.

"You have to find a balance and you get there eventually. It can be overwhelming even now. It catches you off guard and you realise how massive this show is. You can have all the money in the world as a footballer, but you never get the same kind of fame as you do being in Corrie. It's intense and you never get over that, but you channel it in the best way possible."

How does your little girl feel about you moving to London?

"Very sad. I've noticed her saying a little more recently 'I'm missing you daddy' and I'm not even gone yet. It does pull on your heart strings, but I'm going to be back in Manchester all the time. Scarlett loves London, so she'll come and stay with me in the school holidays.

"The great thing about my relationship with Tina is I can see my daughter whenever I want. I'm very lucky in that sense. Tina will come to London with Scarlett and it's never an issue where I'm on a schedule and I can only see Scarlett at certain times, like some parents are. I've still got my place in Manchester, so when I'm here I can pick her up from school and spend some time here."

Obviously your brother Adam Thomas is in Emmerdale as Adam Barton. Do you fancy going into that show as another Barton brother?

"How can I go into Emmerdale when I'm in the best soap now?! I can't leave the best soap to go to another soap that isn't as good as my one! I've got to be territorial to my show and say it's the best, just like everyone else will say their show is the best.

"The one thing I would love to do is work with my brother, as that would be fantastic and maybe that opportunity will come at some point. But I said to Adam: 'Don't leave Emmerdale yet or I'll never get a job!' He's too good, he's better than me!"

Do you feel there's been any missed opportunities from your time in Corrie?

"That's tough because there is nobody I've not touched on a storyline with. I've worked with Michelle Keegan, Kate Kelly and Tina - these powerful female actresses. Then I've got the alpha males who I've had great stories with.

"Jason hasn't been at the centre of every storyline, but he's always involved in big storylines, which is why it was nice at the end to have his little goodbye and show a lot more depth with Jason.

"Maybe if I was staying around a little bit longer, they would touch on that even more, but now that I'm going outside in the big wide world, it's been lovely to have that opportunity and to have a showreel. I've been very blessed and lucky to have the storylines I've had. And the women that Jason has had! Thank you

I think Jason is getting a very poorly written exit

Appalling exit ... seems Corrie writers can only think of inappropriate relationships, one night stands with pregnancy and who is the daddy storylines... :wall:

I hope they come up with something a bit more challenging for Kylie´s departure but won´t hold my breath!

Yes, but Eileen takes control of the finances as directed by Jason ... not sure how long she will stay in charge though with Phelan´s constant manipulations

Coronation Street: Jason Grimshaw returns after being scammed in Thailand?
Jason Grimshaw (Ryan Thomas) was last seen in Coronation Street back in 2016, but could he be about to return to Weatherfield?
As the son of Eileen (Sue Cleaver), Jason made his arrival to the cobbles in 2000 and was involved in some huge storylines over his time in the show.
Popular with many (many) of the females in Weatherfield, we?d be here all day if we listed the amount of people he had as a love interest!
One of Jason?s more stable relationships was when he was with Sarah (Tina O?Brien). However, after deciding they were going to get married, it led to disaster when Jason realised his heart wasn?t in it and stopped the marriage by escaping through the Registry Office window!
Towards the end of his time on the cobbles, Jason was involved in the complicated storyline with Callum Logan (Sean Ward).
In 2016, when Tony was blamed for Callum?s murder, Jason fled the Street and went to work in Thailand, hoping to return when everything calmed down.
Leaving Pat Phelan (Connor McIntyre) to run the business, Jason decided to remain in Thailand when he discovered Phelan lost ?80k of his money.
On Friday night (July 9), Sean (Antony Cotton) briefly mentioned Jason, telling George (Tony Maudsley) that he had been the victim of a scam in Thailand and has sadly had his bank accounts cleared, but could that be foreshadowing a return in the future?
If Jason doesn?t have any money, will he have no choice but to return to Coronation Street?

Former Coronation Street star Ryan Thomas was left feeling emotional this week after returning to the ITV soap?s original set.

The actor, who played Jason Grimshaw on the cobbles for 16 years before leaving in 2016, was invited to a birthday bash in what used to be the soap's old medical centre, taking him back to one of the "most important times" in his life.

Taking to his Instagram Story, Ryan shared a photo of himself standing outside the building, captioning it: "I got invited to a friend's 70th in Manchester last week. I had no idea it was going to be in the old medical centre of the original Coronation Street."

The soap was originally filmed at a set on Quay Street between 1982 and 2013 (where Ryan filmed the majority of his scenes as Jason), before moving to MediaCityUK in Salford in 2014.

The Dancing on Ice winner continued: "This is where the most important time of my life all started. Makes me emotional coming back here. I would not be where I am today without this magical place growing up."

Ryan also shared a photo of himself pointing at what used to be Jason's home, No.11, as well as the building he auditioned for the role in.

"Top of this building is where I did my audition for Jason... now the new Soho House in Manchester," he wrote.

After winning Dancing on Ice with his professional skating partner Amani Fancy earlier this year in a tense final against Made in Chelsea's Miles Nazaire and radio DJ Adele Roberts, Ryan shared his hopes to return to acting.

"Returning to acting is something I have been talking about. It is my trade after all, so I need to use that to the best of my advantage," he said.

"There's no definite role and it would all depend on what comes up but we'll see what happens."

Please come back, Jason.. but stay away from Cassie... :D

https://www.digitalspy.com/soaps/coronation-street/a64803517/coronation-street-jason-grimshaw-romantic-twist/

Coronation Street star Ryan Thomas has opened up about his upcoming return to the ITV soap, teasing a romantic twist for his character Jason Grimshaw.

It was confirmed earlier this year that the star would return to Weatherfield after an 11-year absence, making a guest appearance as part of his on-screen mum Sue Cleaver's exit storyline.

Ahead of his return scenes airing, Thomas has assured fans that Jason hasn't changed much since they last saw him on the cobbles, saying he is "still that happy-go-lucky, lovable guy".

"He makes it up as he goes along, has a loving heart, and is all about family," he added, before teasing: "And he certainly hasn?t changed when it comes to women, straight away he is taking someone back home with him and getting himself into hot water with his brother!"

As for what brings Jason back to Weatherfield, Thomas said: "He's struggling for money, his girlfriend left him, and he needs his mum. He says he's come back for Eileen, but he really needs a cuddle and his safety net."

The actor also spoke about what is was like reprising the role after over a decade, saying it was "a bit of a shock to the system at first".

"I even went on YouTube to rewatch old scenes and got nervous. But it became the norm again very quickly. Everything about the script made it easy for me," he explained.

"There are the little golden nuggets of mother and son, you know, the flirty banter he has with the ladies and the fact that the friendship he has with Steve MacDonald is still there. And of course he and his brother winding each other up."

Asked if returning was the right decision, he said: "Absolutely, I have no regrets. It's been the perfect storyline and a real memory I can cherish.

"It felt like the old days, we've all been in the canteen, having lunch together and I had real fun."

Thomas previously revealed that he received a call from his on-screen mum Sue Cleaver asking if he would come back for her exit.

Cleaver announced her decision to leave the soap in January after 25 years in the role of Eileen Grimshaw. Her final scenes are set to air this spring.
