Bob (Tony Audenshaw) is unmoved by Terry (Billy Hartman) and Jamie’s (Alex Carter) appeals that he should visit Viv. Bob finally concedes the point and sets off towards the prison. However, he decides not to go through with it and has to lie to Terry when asked about the visit. He heads home to reflect on his cowardice but gets disturbed by Gennie’s (Sian Reese-Williams) unexpected appearance. Bob admits to Gennie that he couldn’t bring himself to visit Viv as he has to accept that has already lost her. As Gennie drops a wine cork on the floor Bob tries to retrieve it and the pair clash heads. Gennie takes Bob’s face in her hands to check for any damage and when their eyes lock Gennie moves in for a kiss. Bob reciprocates and the moment becomes more passionate, leading inexorably towards the bedroom. Has Bob made a huge mistake?

Meanwhile, relations are sour between Val (Charlie Hardwick) and Pollard (Chris Chittell). They get no better when Val ignores her husband’s protestations and goes on an extravagant spending spree. Val tries to make light of their financial difficulties but Pollard states the reality in plain detail. Val is rocked to realise the extent of their peril and suggests Pollard get a job. Pollard feels he is too old to start over again, but will necessity force a change of opinion?

Also, Debbie (Charley Webb) is narked when a mysterious stranger queue jumps at the café. When she kicks up a fuss he apologises and introduces himself as Michael Conway (Jamie Belman) - a supplier to the Home Farm shop. There is a clear mutual attraction between them, which is sparked again when their eyes meet in the Woolpack later that day. Any resumption of their conversation is foiled when Cain (Jeff Hordley) enters, revealing he’s booked Debbie and Sarah a holiday. Debbie’s grateful and pecks her dad on the cheek, a gesture which induces jealousy from an unenlightened Michael. Has circumstance lost Debbie a potential admirer?

Tuesday 14 July.

Bob (Tony Audenshaw) is appalled with his misdemeanour and almost confesses it to Jamie (Alex Carter). Unable to keep a lid on his guilt Bob tells Terry (Billy Hartman) about sleeping with Gennie (Sian Reese-Williams) and decides to go to the prison and tell Viv the truth only to find out she has been released. Viv (Deena Payne) arrives home from prison and Brenda pounces on her thinking she is a thief. A stunned Paddy (Dominic Brunt) is confronted with the sight of both women having a titanic battle amidst the shop goods. After Paddy explains the situation Brenda is horrified to realise she attacked her new business partner. Meanwhile, Bob races home and urges Gennie to steer clear of the shop and café for fear of bumping into Viv. Bob takes the twins home preparing for an emotional reunion. However, when the twins don’t recognise their mum and things are strained between Viv and Bob it is clear settling back into her old life is going to be far from straightforward. As they discuss Bob’s no-show at the prison, Viv berates him for his course of action and when Bob also asks her to give the twins time to adjust Viv feels more and more like a stranger in her own home. Will Bob divulge the real reason for the sour atmosphere?

Elsewhere, Michael (Jamie Belman) drops his car in at the garage to get some work done and is pleasantly surprised to discover it’s owned by Debbie (Charley Webb). After Debbie introduces him to Cain (Jeff Hordley), Michael relaxes upon discovering she’s single. Debbie agrees to go on a date with Michael and get on really well. Michael is impressed to hear how Debbie has built up her business almost single-handedly, but when asked about her family Debbie fails to tell him that she has a daughter. Michael drives her home and Debbie hopes for a second date, only to be upset to hear that he isn’t from the area.

Meanwhile, Eddy (Paul Darrow) continues to charm the village ladies. Turner (Richard Thorp) is surprised when Eddy asks him to think about travelling round the world with him. Edna Shirley Stelfox) is unimpressed when Turner sets off for a ride with Eddy but he turns out to be a real hit with Lily (Anne Charleston). After thoroughly enjoying the ride with Eddy, Turner is persuaded to join his friend and the ladies for a drink in the Woolpack. Eddy regales Turner’s friends with tales of his hell raising younger days and they sing his praises to a thoughtful Turner. They spend the whole afternoon reminiscing but Turner can’t keep up with Eddy’s relentless lifestyle. Eddy tells Turner

PI for Wednesday 15 July.

Viv (Deena Payne) finds village life difficult to relax into. Noticing this Bob (Tony Audenshaw) intervenes when Brenda (Lesley Dunlop) attempts to tell Viv about her part ownership of the businesses. Brenda grows cross when Viv begins ordering her around and vows to Terry (Billy Hartman) that she’ll take action if Bob doesn’t come clean. Val (Charlie Hardwick) takes delight in telling Viv that Brenda owns half the business and adds that she used to have a crush on him. Viv accuses her husband of playing away, but Bob is irritated and states that Brenda saved their lives. Later, Terry goes round to tell Viv that there is no way that Brenda and Bob had an affair. Viv seems convinced but then informs Terry that she is sure Bob has been seeing someone else and is determined to get to the bottom of it. Will Viv sift through the lies and uncover Bob’s infidelity?

Meanwhile, Cain (Jeff Hordley) revels in telling Michael (Jamie Belman) about Sarah and is convinced it will scare him off. However, he is unfazed by her having a daughter and asks Debbie (Charley Webb) out again. Debbie lets him down gently but undaunted, he comes back and offers to take Debbie out on a different night. She declines because of Sarah but rues her decision. Back home Debbie is furious with Cain for his blatant scheming and worries that she’s missed a golden opportunity. Will Debbie see Michael again?

Elsewhere, Bob visits Gennie (Sian Reese-Williams) and clears the air. Gennie lies that she’s fine to accept them sleeping together was a mistake and promises Bob she’d never come between him and Viv. Gennie is alarmed to learn that a row over Brenda has caused a rift between Bob and Viv and continues to feel bad about what she’s done. Jamie (Alex Carter) is upset for his friend when Gennie makes it clear she has given up on love. Can he convince her there are other fish in the sea?

PI for Thursday 16 July.

Terry (Billy Hartman) forewarns Bob (Tony Audenshaw) that Viv (Deena Payne) is on his case. Bob decides to take Viv and the twins for a picnic, but Viv is still obsessed with the idea that’s Bob’s been unfaithful. Bob finds it difficult to face Viv in knowledge of his infidelity but assures her he’s done nothing wrong. They find some common ground when caring for Cathy and Heath (Gabrielle and Sebastian Dowling) and Bob urges Viv to look to their future as a family. Their old spark is back and Viv is sorry she ever doubted Bob. Can Bob live with his overwhelming sense of guilt?

Also, Debbie (Charley Webb) agrees to let Andy (Kelvin Fletcher) see Sarah (Sophia Amber Moore), despite Cain’s (Jeff Hordley) objections. Andy is delighted to see his daughter but that all changes when Diane (Elizabeth Estensen) is needed in the pub. Left alone Andy dissolves into tears. Sarah is scared by Andy’s strange behaviour and is glad when Diane offers to take her back to Debbie’s. Debbie is slightly angered that Diane didn’t keep watch over them, but Diane pleads to be given another chance. Will Debbie allow Andy anywhere near their daughter again?

Meanwhile, Jimmy (Nick Miles) raises the question of substitute birthing partners to an unenthused Nicola (Nicola Wheeler). Despite her mood Jimmy pushes ahead with the idea and Nicola asks Laurel (Charlotte Bellamy) to be her stand in birth partner should Jimmy not be around. Laurel accepts and Nicola is glad the decision has been made. However, Jimmy is not satisfied and rallies Laurel and Ashley (John Middleton) for a meeting of team Nicola. Laurel finds Jimmy’s enthusiasm funny when he begins to explain the pregnancy schedule to her. Nicola groans at Jimmy’s behaviour as his eagerness shows no sign of dissipating.

PI for Friday 17 July

Debbie (Charley Webb) regretfully explains to Diane (Elizabeth Estensen) that Andy (Kelvin Fletcher) can’t be alone with Sarah until he’s better. Cain (Jeff Hordley) weighs in and tries to warn Andy in the village, but he’s unnerved by Andy’s strange behaviour. In a world of his own Andy journeys “home” to Butlers. After taking a nap in one of the barns Andy is woken up by the sound of strange voices. He investigates and witnesses the Barton family moving in. Moira (Natalie J Robb) lets out a gasp when she sees Andy’s vacant face watching them. Undeterred John (James Thornton) makes his introductions and Andy breaks down as he remembers the farm is no longer his home. Slightly concerned about his mental health Moira and John call a relieved Diane and she takes Andy back home. How will the Barton’s take to life in the village?

Meanwhile, Bob (Tony Audenshaw) is confused when Viv (Deena Payne) avoids a proper reintroduction to village life. Bob convinces her to spend a morning serving in the café and soon enough Viv is back to her charming self. Brenda (Lesley Dunlop) remarks on the impressive teamwork displayed by her partners. Terry (Billy Hartman) arrives to tell Brenda that they’ve been invited for a drink with Bob and Viv. Viv argues that she isn’t ready to face a jam-packed Woolpack, but Bob again convinces her. The pub turns out to be fairly quiet and Viv eases herself further back into her old life. Bob tells Terry how glad he is to finally have his wife back and will definitely be keeping quiet about sleeping with Gennie. Is Bob ready to move on with his life?

Much to his dismay, Natasha (Amanda Donohoe) hands Mark (Maxwell Caulfield) the reigns of the shop in preparation for her holiday. Mark is upset when Natasha belittles him in front of the farm shop staff and realises that no amount of apologies will shift Natasha’s feelings towards him. As Doug (Duncan Preston) and Leyla (Rokhsaneh Ghawam-Shahidi) busy around him in the shop, Mark is glum as it’s the last place he wants to be. How will Mark cope without Natasha?

Viv's back :cheer:

The new Family sound quite interesting, if it was any other Family they would scream at Andy and practicly threated him off their farm.

Poor Andy:(

I think Debbie was confused regarding her sexuality, she had relationships with men (well, boys in Andy's case ) and then Jasmine, but they were both very young and had broken off their relationship before getting back together over the murder. Jasmine has broken off all ties, so perhaps Debbie is realising that she likes a relationship with a man afterall, especially if Cain is so against it.

Emmerdale's new recruit James Thornton has revealed that his character has "massive" storylines ahead.

The former Holby Blue actor will make his Dales debut on Friday after signing up to play farmer John Barton earlier this year.

Thornton's character will be joined by wife Moira (Natalie J Robb) and their teenage children Adam (Adam Thomas), Holly (Sophie Powles) and Hannah (Grace Cassidy), all tipped to be a key part of the ITV1 soap's ongoing overhaul in the coming months.

Speaking to The Mirror, Thornton revealed: "My character John is great because he is a farmer, a proper bloke. He is hardworking and quite moral - a really good character.

"They have given us some great storylines as well. As soon as we arrive, there is a massive incident and our family is right in the centre of it all.

"Our family unit is really young - we must've had our children when we were about 18. The kids are brilliant, really great actors."

The star, who is married to Gavin & Stacey's Joanna Page, added that he is looking forward to being recognised on the street after his first scenes air.

"Jo gets asked for her autograph loads - I'm getting very good at working out how to use other people's camera phones to take pictures of them with her," he explained. "Now I'm coming into Emmerdale, I've told her that she'll have to get used to taking the pictures instead!"

The introduction of the Barton family follows Gavin Blyth's appointment as Emmerdale's new series producer in January.
