BTTB can confirm that UK broadcaster Five will be taking Home and Away off air for the month of August, putting the gap between UK and Australian episodes back to 6 weeks.

The last showing before the hiatus will be on Episode 4900 on Friday 31st July, with the show returning on 31st August.

As it stands, the UK airing comes only 2 weeks after Australian airing, and this break will ensure that the UK does not come in danger of overtaking Australia when they take their annual break at the end of November.

Didn't Five used to do a break when Wimbledon was on with Home and Away and i'm sure Neighbours used to be the same, maybe because Neighbours was on BBC1 that may be the reason, but I always thought the Aussie soaps went on a break around Wimbledon anyway.

Neighbours did when it was on the BBC. I don't recall Five or ITV ever taking a break during Wimbledon. There wouldn't be any point seeing as neither channel show Wimbledon.

Not this summer. The break is just for channel 5. Not sure if Ireland will be taking a break as their broadcaster is different to Britain's.
