Abi Titmuss has claimed that playing a nurse in Holby City would be her dream role.

The former nurse, 33, admitted that she had discussed appearing in such a show when she worked at the Royal Brompton Hospital.

"The one thing I would love to do is play a nurse one day," she told DS. "When I was working on the wards, the other nurses would say, 'Abi, we'll know you've made it when you play a nurse.'

"So something like Holby City or Casualty would be brilliant."

Titmuss, who will appear in this week's Hotel Babylon, also revealed that she is hoping to land parts in period dramas and soaps.

"I'd love to do a period drama or something like a Miss Marple or Poirot. I like doing things where I don't look like me," she said. "I'd also love to do a soap. They're the staple diet of the UK and rightly so. They come up with some terrific storylines and have some great actors in them."

However, the Celebrity Love Island star admitted that she has had trouble finding work which does not require her to appear naked.

"When I did my first ever play in 2006, it was an Arthur Miller play and I won an award for that, so I thought it was all going to be really easy," she said. "But the first five scripts that I got after that, were 'Act One, Abi's clothes fall off'."

It's her own fault on the type of roles she is offered. when the scandal about her ex boyfriend John Leslie came to light she couldn't wait to get her kit off and act like a tart, she was happy doing if when she was getting paid loads of cash for it.

So true Chloe, Abi didn't help herself she played on the image that the press had built up of her as some kind of sex kitten. It was hard to take her seriously especially every week at one stage she was in the newspaper with some new squeeze. Now people don't want to know her as much and she has opted for more serious roles now she WANTS to keep her clothes on - she wonders why agents have viewed her in a different light- Ridiculous!

I watched her on a celeb edition of Come dine with me and I disliked her from then.

I saw her in that and it actually changed my mind about her, she seems to be quite nice when you get to know her. And she did not do anything that a lot of other celebs have done too.

She asked to be taken seriously after playing up to an image she made money from

She made her own bed. Appearing in a medical drama after all that "naughty nurse" stuff might not sit well with a few people.

I have no problem with her history and I'm sure she's a nice lass who has got a bad press (perhaps self inflicted) but I don't want to see her on my telly.
