If I'm proved wrong and the writers make someone else in the square the father of Heather's baby rather than Phil then the writers have bottled it as this has got the chance of being a cracking storyline, not because Heather will be made a fool of but because it will give Phil a reality check on how he has treated people close to him over the years.

Poor Garry. He never has much luck in the love department, does he?

His ex-wife Lynne Slater (Elaine Lordan) had an affair with Beppe di Marco (Michael Greco) which came out in the wash on his wedding day, before she went on to have another brief fling with her ex-fiancé Jason James. Garry then joined in with the promiscuity by having some fun with Laura Beale (Hannah Waterman).

Laura fell pregnant with what she believed to be Garry's baby, but it soon transpired that Bobby wasn't Garry's - Ian was the daddy. Lynne wasn't prepared to forgive Garry so easily, so he evened up the score by having it off with his wife's sister Belinda Peacock (Leanne Lakey). Lynne soon forgave him and fell pregnant herself. A tragic accident, however, resulted in their baby dying and Lynne surviving. Unable to forgive Garry, Lynne fled Walford.

Since Lynne's departure, Garry's been floating around Walford with his best mate Minty (Cliff Parisi) like a pair of lost sheep. However, Garry soon managed to woo Dawn (Kara Tointon) and it seemed like they were going to live happily ever after... Until Dawn decided to chat on him with his good friend and boss Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden).

Yep, Minty's stunned next week when he walks into the Arches to see evidence that Phil's romping with Dawn in the Arches. Caught in an difficult situation, Minty's torn as to whether to tell Garry about Dawn's infidelity. Next fortnight, though, it looks like Garry's going to stumble upon the truth himself when he nearly walks in on Phil and Dawn after a quick session on the sofa in The Vic's living room.

As you can see from my pic below, Dawn's left in a slightly tricky situation as she hides half-naked behind a door. When you see the episode, you'll notice that Garry seems to lack any peripheral vision.

These scenes air on Tuesday, July 7 at 8pm on BBC One.

More info from DS:

Since he walked out of Walford in April, we knew Archie Mitchell - played by Larry Lamb - would be back.

Within days of his disappearing from our screens, information about the deceitful Mitchell's summer return surfaced, questioning whether he would be a reformed man or not.

One thing's for sure, his wife Peggy (Barbara Windsor) isn't prepared in the slightest when she goes to turn The Vic's burglar alarm off and turns to find her estranged husband standing on the stairs. He utters: "Hello Peggy..."

Surely the Walford landlady won't fall for his charms again, will she?

She wouldn't... would she?

Shirley stunned to rumble Heather's secret
Airs on Monday, July 6 2009 at 20:00 BST on BBC One

Minty's still reeling after walking in on Phil and Dawn together the previous day and is snappy towards his boss. When Phil leaves, Garry questions Minty as to why he's in such a mood and Minty insists that Phil doesn't respect them as much as he should. Garry, however, defends him, claiming that he's a decent guy. Dawn bumps into Phil at the café but she's paranoid that Garry will catch them together. Phil, however, is indifferent - they can cool things if she's uneasy. Later in the day, Manda's excited about her night out with Minty, but he's preoccupied with the knowledge of Phil and Dawn. Despite his best efforts, he's unable to find the right moment to break the devastating news to Garry.

At The Vic, Minty attempts to talk to Phil, but when he's cornered by Shirley, he loses his chance. Meanwhile, at the flat, Manda's preparing for her date with Minty and expresses to Dawn how lucky she is to have a man like Garry. When Manda leaves, Dawn's mobile rings - it's Phil. Dawn lies that Phil's called her into work, despite the fact that Garry's prepared them a romantic meal. Later, Manda suggests to Garry that he be more spontaneous with Dawn and at that moment, he grabs a rose and heads across to The Vic, much to Minty's horror. Unable to see Dawn downstairs, Garry climbs the stairs calling her name, while in the living room, Phil and Dawn scramble to get dressed...

Meanwhile, Shirley's becoming more concerned about Heather's strange behaviour when she finds a packet of cigarettes in the cupboard, before declining an offer of a drinking session. Later, Heather's nearly mugged and when Patrick helps gather her belongings from the floor, he notices a letter from the hospital. Heather lies that her appointment is to do with her asthma. When Shirley stops by the Minute Mart to buy some cigarettes, Patrick suggests that she should be more cautious smoking around Heather 'in her condition'. Heading to the hospital, Shirley overhears a nurse talking about his patient who's a George Michael fan. When she follows him, she's gobsmacked to be led to the antenatal unit.

Elsewhere, Bradley's on the hunt for a new job and asks Jack if he needs any help with the business; Jack gives Roxy a letter for Ronnie to sign; Janine tells Amira that she has to be out of the flat by the end of the day; Roxy tells Peggy that Ronnie's found a new man; Amira asks Syed about the room at her flat; Patrick asks Peggy if she and their friends are game for a night out; Jack's adamant that Roxy's trying it on with him again; Syd asks Bradley if he'll move in with her; Roxy insists to Jack that she and Amy come as a package; and Amira turns up on Syd's doorstep after being kicked out by Janine and Bradley lets her have the room instead.

Minty confronts Dawn about her affair
Airs on Tuesday, July 7 2009 at 19:30 BST on BBC One

Garry walks into the living room above The Vic to find Phil alone, completely unaware that Dawn's hiding half-naked behind the door. While Garry asks Phil for advice on keeping Dawn interested, she takes the opportunity to slip out. Dawn returns to the flat and is confronted by Minty about her affair. Dawn admits that she has no idea what she's playing at - she doesn't even love Phil. As Manda and Minty's taxi arrives to take them out, Minty reminds Dawn that the next time Garry's car is found at the top of a cliff, it won't be a misunderstanding. Arriving at the hotel, Minty's frustrated to find that it's a twin room. Undeterred, he attempts to switch to a double.

When Manda returns to the room, he asks why she specifically booked twin beds. Manda claims that she thought that he had cold feet and maintains that he probably sees her as 'old stock' anyway. With that in mind, Minty takes off her specs and passionately kisses her. Squashed in a single bed post coital, Manda talks about her son Adam and insists that she never intended him to be a secret. With that, Minty confesses all about Dawn's affair with Phil and that Garry's previous attempted suicide. Shocked by the revelations, Manda tells Minty to call a taxi.

Returning to the flat, Garry walks having taken Dawn to the Car Lot as she's going to stay with her mum for a while. Bolting across the Square to catch her, Minty calls Dawn a coward for running away from her problems, but she shoots him down, saying that she's getting the brunt of his anger because he won't stand to question Phil.

Meanwhile, Shirley demands to know if the nurse has a Heather Trott on his books. Heather mouths to him that she's not there, before tearfully apologising for her friend's behaviour. A livid Shirley barges back in and demands to know why she wasn't told about the pregnancy. Back at the flat, Heather admits that she's five months gone and is having a baby girl. After an emotional and heated conversation about motherhood, they're interrupted by the nurse who has the scan photo. Heather's ecstatic by the prospect of becoming a mum, but Shirley cuts her down - she should have her baby adopted.

Elsewhere, Peggy and Pat discuss plastic surgery; Roxy discovers Dawn's skirt and asks Phil about it; Mo gatecrashes Peggy, Pat and Patrick's evening; after a discussion about the cost of going under the knife, Mo makes a call to her friend Marilyn; and Roxy's concerned when she receives a text message.

Peggy's stunned to find Archie in The Vic
Airs on Thursday, July 9 2009 at 19:30 BST on BBC One

Over breakfast, Roxy receives another mysterious text message from someone wanting to see her, before Peggy lectures her about giving Amy a proper father figure. Peggy sets off the burglar alarm at The Vic as she's forgotten the code and she's forced to run through the market in her dressing gown to find Minty. On her way back, she bumps into a handsome older man who she takes a shine to. After seeing Mo with a leaflet for 'facial fillers', Peggy makes a call to the cosmetic surgeons to ask for a quote. Roxy, however, isn't impressed. Later, Peggy's interested when she hears Mo talking about 'Marilyn's Facial Fillers'.

Peggy turns up at the Slaters' to talk to Mo about Marilyn's facial treatments. While there, she finds Pat and an argument ensues when Mo reveals that there's only enough facial filler for one. Pat, however, rumbles Mo's scam - Marilyn's not really 62, she's actually in her 40s. Outside, Peggy bumps into the good-looking stranger from earlier on and she walks away smiling. Later, the same guy turns up in The Vic and Peggy turns on the charm. The burglar alarm is set off again, though, and when Peggy turns it off, she's stunned to turn around to find Archie on the stairs. Menacingly, he says: "Hello Peggy…"

Meanwhile, Shirley's serving breakfast while talking down to Heather about her baby plans. On returning from the shop with cereal, Heather's disappeared. While the expectant mother's out, a lady from the adoption agency calls at the flat as Shirley's arranged a visit. Later at the chippy, Heather tells Shirley that she's having her baby and won't give it up. When Shirley refers to the unborn child as a "mistake", a raging Heather bolts out the door and heads back to the flat to pack her bags. Later in the pub, Shirley arrives and surprisingly pledges her support. Thrilled by her best friend's change of heart, Heather agrees to return home.

Elsewhere, Denise shows Lucas a key to a caravan she's hired for a short break; Minty can't bring himself to tell Garry about Dawn and Phil; Jane's disgusted to find a poster for a children's talent competition with a cash prize; Janine turns up on Pat's doorstep hoping to stay for a while, but Pat turns her down; Denise and Lucas receive a phone call from Jordan's school informing him that he's been skipping classes; Janine threatens to hurt Terrence if Tiffany doesn't enter the children's talent contest; Manda reluctantly agrees to let Dawn and Garry sort their own problems out; and Jordan returns home and admits that he's been living with Trina and wants to move in with her permanently.

Archie begs Peggy for another chance
Airs on Friday, July 10 2009 at 20:00 BST on BBC One

Peggy's aghast at Archie's sudden return and throws him out of the pub as the locals watch on. When Roxy turns up, Peggy realises that she was the one who invited her father back to Walford. Furious, Peggy tries to make the point that she's moved on since his departure and heads over to the handsome stranger called Hugo who she'd previously been flirting with. Hugo, however, admits that he's not living locally and that he's a letting agent - Archie's letting agent. Archie takes pleasure in revealing that he's letting one of Hugo's houses. Livid, Peggy storms off.

Archie follows Peggy upstairs, but she suggests that he leave before Phil returns. Archie, however, begins to cry and Roxy jumps to her dad's defence. Fuming that Roxy orchestrated Archie's return, she begins packing her niece's belongings, before throwing her out with her dad. Taking cover in their new home, Archie confesses to his daughter that he's been depressed on his own. Attempting to talk Peggy round, Roxy returns to The Vic and pleads with her to give her dad a second chance. Peggy, however, doesn't want to know and demands that she leave her keys on the bar and go.

Later, Peggy has a heart-to-heart with Pat, who points out that it must mean something to have kept her wedding ring. Pat suggests that her old friend should be honest with herself about her true feelings for her husband. Peggy's fuming by Pat's suggestion and throws her out, but it's not long before she calls Roxy and agrees to meet with Archie - on her terms.

Meanwhile, Heather counters Shirley's suggestion that Minty's the father of her baby. Shirley, however, arranges for Minty to be in The Vic at lunchtime but she's not impressed when Manda turns up. Shirley verbally attacks Minty, before knocking him to the ground with a punch. With that, Heather exclaims that Minty isn't the father of her child. The pub falls silent as Heather breaks down. While suggestions as to the father's identity ricochet up and down the bar, Heather confirms that she's having a baby girl and that it's due in November. She also insists that nobody knows the father. Heather storms out of The Vic to the Launderette. While there, Manda calls, pledging her support. Despite the day's events, Shirley continues to question Heather about the father back at the flat, but a frustrated Heather walks out.

Elsewhere, Jordan prepares to leave home to live with Trina; Jane argues with Ian that a children's talent show with a cash prize is wrong; Jordan goes missing following an argument with his dad; Trina accuses Denise and Lucas of being careless with Jordan; Janine rumbles Ian's covert operation; Lucas is angry by Trina's behaviour and goes to call Social Services, but Denise reminds him that they need to keep her sweet to secure his divorce; Jane's disgusted to see that Ian's dressed Bobby up as a cowboy for the talent show; and in the café, Trina tells Jordan that it's only a matter of time before his dad joins them…
