Outside the busy ‘E1’ bar, Sergeant Smith (Alex Walkinshaw) and his officers attempt to break up a street fight and discover badly beaten Andy Brennan (Jack Deam) lying alone in a nearby alleyway. Elsewhere, Sergeant Stone (Sam Callis) investigates a break in at Oliver Robinson’s (Anthony Flanagan) house, where a watch worth £9,000 has been stolen. Back at the station, the Sergeants realise their cases are connected when the missing watch is found on Andy. Smithy and Stone head to ‘E1’ where they question the barman, Pete Copperfield (Felix Scott) who says he doesn’t remember seeing Andy there the night before. However, cocky bar owner Jason Devlin (Guy Flanagan) recalls that Andy was there with a man in a suit, who turns out to be Oliver. As the investigation continues, Smithy and Stone discover that Andy and Oliver are brothers, but have kept this information from the police: but why?
There is an unexpected twist in the case when the officers realise that Oliver had nothing to do with Andy’s assault and their attentions quickly turn to Jason, who had a brief altercation with Andy before he was beaten. The Sergeants head back to the bar where they meet Jason’s father, Matthew (Danny Webb), who appears unfazed by their appearance. After talking to Jason and Matthew, the officers conclude that Jason may have beaten up Andy for simply having an innocent chat with his girlfriend, Abi Nastase (Edyta Budnik). After interviewing both Abi and barman Pete, Smithy and Stone realise how terrified they are of Jason – he is obviously an influential and dangerous man. Back at the station, Jason is bailed on the grounds that no forensic evidence can be found and Smithy voices his anger as the smug bar owner leaves. Later, officers respond to a call about Jason’s bar which has a fire ripping through it and appears to be a case of arson.
