British comic Sacha Baron Cohen was reportedly threatened by a group of men with guns after embarrassing them as he filmed new movie Bruno in America's Deep South.
The funnyman was shooting scenes for the upcoming film in one of the USA's southern states last year with a group of deer hunters.
But the unsuspecting participants in the movie reportedly became angry when the star, in character as the flamboyant Austrian fashion journalist, stripped off and pranced naked around their campsite.
The hunters are then said to have turned their guns on Cohen, who was forced to flee with his film crew, according to British newspaper the Daily Mirror.
A source tells the publication, "The crew thought something serious would happen, they were in the middle of nowhere. The hunters thought he was an Austrian TV presenter doing a travel piece. But his behaviour became outrageous. He said they were all like Sex and the City girls and it all went downhill from there.
"Everyone had turned in for the night when Sacha started dancing around the campsite naked. They immediately went for their guns and loaded them in front of the camera. He tried to calm them down but they were furious so they had to get out of there. Everyone was really shaken up by it all."
Sacha Baron Cohen's latest alter ego Bruno will be striking a pose on the red carpet at London's Leicester Square later.
The gay, Austrian, fashion-mad TV presenter is expected to make an eye-catching entrance at the premiere of the eponymous film if Baron Cohen's previous exploits are to be remembered.
The London premiere of Borat: Cultural Learnings Of America For Make Benefit Glorious Nation Of Kazakhstan saw him turn up in a cart pulled by numerous hefty looking women - presumably from the village where Borat lives.
And Bruno has already caused a sensation before even landing in the UK.
At the MTV Movie Awards he dropped from the sky wearing a pair of angel wings and jockstrap-type underwear.
He descended into the audience, landing on rapper Eminem with his bare bottom placed inches from his face.
At the premiere of the movie in Paris this week Baron Cohen was firmly in character and donned gold glittery lederhosen.
The British Board of Film Classification has given Bruno an 18 certificate.
The Larry Charles-directed movie has been passed with no cuts, but consumers have been advised that it contains images of strong sex and sex references.
It has been reported that three scenes in particular caused the film to be unsuitable for younger viewers.
These included a sex scene involving Bruno's pygmy boyfriend, one set at a real swingers' party and one where Bruno mimes oral sex with a deceased member of Milli Vanilli.
A BBFC spokesperson said that it had suggested cuts that could be made to get the film a 15 certificate, but the filmmakers declined the option.
Actor Sacha Baron Cohen's previous big-screen outings Ali G Indahouse and Borat were both given 15 ratings for their theatrical release.
i cannot wait for this film!!!!!! :D

Sacha Baron Cohen's latest comedy creation gave beleaguered UK Prime Minister Gordon Brown some advice to help his comeback: "Wear some tight slacks."
The star walked the red carpet last night at the premiere of 'Bruno' in character as the outrageous gay Austrian TV presenter.
He donned a risque Queen's guard outfit and arrived followed by a similarly dressed marching band.
The look was completed with tight black leather hotpants, a cropped red military-style top which revealed his stomach, and knee-high boots.
Standing on a podium, Baron Cohen and his entourage kept still as the National Anthem was played - but they broke into frantic dance moves when the music changed to techno.
Addressing the crowd, Bruno - blond fringe poking out from beneath a bearskin-style hat - wailed: "What's up London? The Austrians have finally invaded. Let's hear it for my soldier boys. Danke schon for coming to my premiere today.
"It's great to see so many D-listers."
Asked by reporters what he thought of Mr Brown's look, he said: "The guy needs a total makeover.
"He needs a fake tan, he needs to wear some tight slacks... Gordon, click those heels and say hello."
The star-studded guest list included Jo Wood, Fay Ripley and Nigella Lawson.
TV chef Lawson showed off her cleavage in a figure-hugging black dress. She said she had known Baron Cohen since he was "very young".
She said he started doing the character as a three-minute comedy sketch and added: "My son is called Bruno, partly because of him."
Baron Cohen often remains in character for his public appearances.
Lawson added: "When I pinched his bottom just now he replied to me as Bruno."
She described him as "fantastic, gorgeous, lovely, very kind and also modest and shy".
Bruno's latest outing follows the comic actor's stunts at the MTV Movie Awards in the United States.
Skimpily dressed and suspended on a wire with a pair of angel wings, he landed on Eminem while baring his backside.
The rap star appeared to storm out of the ceremony but the incident is now believed to have been a skit.
At another premiere of the movie in Paris this week, Baron Cohen donned gold glittery lederhosen.
The comedy is Baron Cohen's follow-up to 'Borat: Cultural Learnings Of America For Make Benefit Glorious Nation Of Kazakhstan'.
Wood, wearing a floor-length brown dress, was asked if she had any fashion advice for Bruno. She said: "Keep wearing those little tight shorts."
Peaches Geldof was also at the glitzy event wearing a flowing white outfit reminiscent of a wedding dress.
Former Atomic Kitten Jenny Frost said of Bruno: "I think I'm a little bit in love."
Sophie Ellis Bextor, wearing a multi-coloured dress with gold trim, described Baron Cohen as a "really fearless comedian".
"He's just going to push it and do all those things we wouldn't really dare to do."

I loved Borat and I know I will LOVE Bruno despite what reviewers may say!
A scene featuring Michael Jackson's sister LaToya has been pulled at the last minute from Sacha Baron’s Cohen’s new comedy Bruno before it premieres in the US.
The film debuted in LA last night and was set to feature an accidental cameo from LaToya where she was interviewed by Bruno and a reference to Michael was made.
However, Access Hollywood reports that a source at Universal, the studio behind the film, said the scene had been cut out of respect for the family.
The scene may also be permanently deleted before the movie goes on general release in the US on July 10.

Sacha Baron Cohen's outlandish gay character Bruno stopped traffic at the Australian premiere of his new movie - dressed as a sexy knight in shining armour.
Cohen hit Sydney on Monday night for the screening, and thrilled crowds of screaming fans by stepping out as a knight, leading a white horse dressed in bondage gear.
The funnyman has donned a different costume for every international premiere of the picture - in London he posed as a gay Queen's guard and in Spain he dressed up as a bull.
But Cohen's promotional trail in Australia has been marred with controversy.
In character as Bruno, he had earlier joked about romancing the country's Prime Minister Kevin Rudd, telling a press conference, "The reason I'm late is I just had breakfast in bed with Kevin Rudd. That guy is, like, uber cute. I thought (U.S. President Barack) Obama was, like, the hottest guy in the world until I met Kevin."

Sacha Baron Cohen was left fearing for his life after a cage-fight mob threatened to kill him as he filmed his new movie Bruno.
The British funnyman was shooting scenes while in character as the outrageous Austrian fashion journalist hosting a real cage fight in Arkansas.
The star was told he didn't have to worry about his safety, so he challenged the booing audience to a fight - but was confronted by a muscleman within seconds.
Cohen was scared for his life as the mob urged the fighter to "kill him", but he managed to escape through a secret door.
The actor says, "There were 2,000 drunk good old boys baying for blood. I was told not to worry, it would take someone two minutes to climb in the cage. The audience booed me and I challenged them to a fight, thinking I was safe. Then a 6 feet 8 inches steroid-ed guy catapulted over the fence in two seconds and stood in front of me as the crowd cheered, 'Kill him, kill him'."

Sacha Baron Cohen's outrageous Bruno movie has topped the U.S. box office with an opening weekend of $30 million (£20 million).
The comedy ended the summer stranglehold on the top of the film charts by Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs and Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, which slipped into second and third place, respectively.

UK cinema-goers are to be presented with two alternative versions of hit comedy film Bruno from Friday, 24 July.
A 15-rated edit of the movie will be distributed alongside the original cut, which has an 18 certificate.
It is the first time alternate versions of a film have been released in the UK at the same time.
Universal Pictures said it had re-cut the film after cinemas reported turning away large numbers of teenagers during the opening weekend.
Only 1 minute 50 seconds had been lost from the original, it said.
Sacha Baron Cohen's mock documentary went straight to number one in the US this weekend. It is expected to achieve a similar feat in the UK, despite its restrictive certificate.
Universal said the movie had taken an estimated £5m at the UK and Ireland box office since it opened on 12 July.
If that figure is verified, Bruno will have achieved the biggest opening weekend of all time for an 18-rated film.
Centred around an Austrian fashion TV reporter, the film sees Baron Cohen stage a variety of audacious, and often explicit, encounters with the public.
It has already survived several encounters with the editor's scalpel.
Some scenes were shaved in the US to stop the film being given a restrictive NC-17 rating, which would have banned anyone under the age of 17 from seeing it.
And, shortly before release, a scene involving Michael Jackson's sister La Toya was removed "out of respect" for the Jackson family
Cinemagoers in the U.K. will get the chance to see two versions of risque new comedy Bruno - to allow younger fans to enjoy the movie.
Sacha Baron Cohen's outrageous new big screen outing, in which he plays a gay Austrian fashionista, was slapped with an 18 certificate by British movie watchdogs due to its adult content.
Universal Pictures, the studio behind the film, feared the older certificate could cause a huge cut in revenues - prompting bosses to re-cut the movie so that 15 year olds can also go and see it.
The film was also heavily edited for the American market, so that under-17s were allowed to view the footage.
The newly re-cut film will be available in Britain from 24 July.

This is just exploiting the public to make more money. The film was set as a certificate 18 and it should stay an 18. It will be available on DVD in a couple of months so under 18's can watch it then.

Movie theatre bosses in Ireland are warning Bruno fans not to buy tickets if they're easily offended - because the film is "particularly vile".
Customers calling a recorded hotline for Diamond Screen in County Meath are told to think twice before coming to see the outlandish comedy, which stars Sacha Baron Cohen as a gay Austrian fashionista.
The warning says, "Bruno is particularly vile. It leads to a hell of a lot complaints. It will offend every prejudice in the book, believe me, so don't come on after and tell us how horrible it was."
It adds, "One or two have enjoyed it though."
And the message appears to have worked - a spokesperson for Diamond Screen says, "We haven't had any complaints yet."

Reality TV socialite Brittny Gastineau has denied she was made a fool of in the Bruno movie - insisting she was always in on the joke.
The heiress appears in the outrageous new film, in which comic Sacha Baron Cohen plays a gay Austrian fashionista, as part of the funnyman's ploy to make a mockery of Hollywood.
In one shocking scene, Gastineau is shown an alleged sonogram of Jamie Lynn Spears' unborn foetus. When asked if she thinks the baby looks deformed, she agrees and when quizzed over whether Spears should terminate the tot, she shouts out, "Abort it!"
But the 26 year old is adamant she wasn't taken in by Cohen's camp character - claiming she was "spoofing herself" in the comedy.
She tells Usmagazine.com, "I was joking around. I was spoofing myself."
Gastineau adds that she was at first confused at being approached by a supposed European TV presenter, but went along with it because her show the Gastineau Girls is shown all over the world.
She explains, "I was confused; I thought maybe it was still playing over there. So I was like, 'Okay'. When I got there, I saw him, and I obviously knew it was him. I was like, 'Oh, this is funny. This is a joke.' I just went along with it.
"Everyone knew I wasn't serious when I said, 'Abort a baby!' I was just playing along. Anyone who is going to see Bruno knows it's a comedy, and I was totally joking around! I was not serious."
The Royal Family have reportedly asked for a private screening of Brüno at their Balmoral residence.

Just got back from seeing this. I thought it was hilarious! I was crying with laughter at the swingers party
A cut scene from Brüno that featured La Toya Jackson has been restored for the film's DVD release.
In June, a few days after the death of La Toya's brother Michael, a last-minute edit was made to the film by Universal Studios to delete a scene featuring his sibling.
The clip of Sacha Baron Cohen's faux Austrian journalist's interview with the 53-year-old will now be seen on the November 17 DVD release, People reports.
In the previously excised 90-second scene, the titular character has La Toya sit on the back of a nearly nude Hispanic day laborer in a room without furniture. She then joined Brüno in eating sushi off another almost naked man who has been wheeled in on a gurney.
Cohen's alter ego later borrowed La Toya's cell phone and looked for the King of Pop's number and he called out for an assistant to write it down, which resulted in the singer storming out of the interview.
The comedy initially received an 18 certificate from the British Board of Film Classification, but it was later recut for a 15 certificate in UK cinemas.

Comedian Sacha Baron Cohen is facing a $110m (£67.5m) libel action from a Palestinian man who says the film Bruno wrongly branded him a terrorist.
Shopkeeper Ayman Abu Aita was interviewed for the 2009 comedy and captioned as a member of militant group al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigade.
He is also suing US talk show host David Letterman after he and Cohen discussed meeting a "terrorist".
Film financers Universal Studios and Letterman's lawyers have not commented.
'Utterly false'
In legal papers filed in Washington DC, Bethlehem businessman Mr Abu Aita's lawyer said he was a Christian and "a peace-loving person who abhors violence".
He added that before the film he "enjoyed a good reputation for honesty and a peaceable nature" in the community, which had been compromised.
Any involvement in militant activities and organisations were "utterly false and untrue", his lawyer stated.
He added that Mr Abu Aita was never given a release form to sign ahead of his appearance in the film, and added that Baron Cohen had "made millions" through it.
Mr Abu Aita's lawyer says his client received death threats due to the film
In his Letterman appearance, the star said he had feared for his safety when he interviewed Mr Abu Aita at a secret location of his choosing.
Mr Abu Aita claims that the meeting took place at a hotel chosen by the film's production staff.
The excerpt of the film was then shown on the popular US TV show.
A legal hearing about Mr Abu Aita's complaint is expected to be heard next month.
Baron Cohen faced a number of legal actions over his previous film, the 2006 comedy Borat, from people who felt they were misrepresented or were not made aware of the film's satirical nature.
A number of cases in the US were dismissed last year.
