Showing what for some is reality can be very disturbing to watch, might be a while before you can watch a lighter episode ...
bear could barely stand and move and next was back up, out working, you'd think he would have knocked out Ray, it looked only celia and Ray at the farm overseeing the chickens and turkeys
Bear is a bit like SuperMack all over again. This is a serious subject but it deserves better treatment than it is being given here. This like a budget version which dilutes any serious message that they are trying to deliver. The bit that makes me laugh is the zombie like characters walking about in the background carrying bags of chichen feed. A Down's Syndrome man added in the name of diversity, I find this bit patronizing. Ray has now become all assertive and bullying instead of nice Ray trying to sweet talk April into doing things she does not want to do. There is just nothing about this story that feels authentic.

I think Ray is like this now as he is being supervised by his mother who he clearly is afraid of, quite rightly so too. I totally agree with your other comments..
hopefully now we will see robert go get seb

If Kev is Lewis's father this will be the proof I need, that Emmerdale is inside a "Dome". Explaining why long lost relatives can never escape the village.

Eve seeing Bear in the field. I hope this is the beginning of the end for Celia and Ray. Leading to Paddy or someone investigating further and exposing the whole sorry mess.

Yes, there are developments soon that will show a change.. how much of what has been going on with he drug storyline remains to be seen...
april just let off with drugs , why wasn't her parents called, she is a minor

Was she even given a caution? The amount of drugs she had, would not be worth the train fare, is she delivering small amounts to individual clients? Or is she delivering large amounts to the next link in the supply chain? Do they not have any drug dealers in Newcastle, that April needs to be running supplies up there, a 100 miles away. I imagine local drug dealers would kill her and Ray and Celia too.

celia is confusing, renting a farm for chickens and turkeys with slaves, yet also running drugs and pimping out you girls or is it just april, why was ray so focused on getting more weed from lewis and how does mack know ray

Ray was an old contact of Mack. Mackenzie invited Ray to the village to consider buying a large quantity of cannabis plants that Lewis Barton had been growing. Ray came to the village looking for Mackenzie to make a deal, which ultimately involved Mackenzie and Robert Sugden working together to sell the plants to Ray.

It is as if the writers have taken clips from tabloids stories and cobbled them together to produce this confusing story. I really doubt this story gives anything near a true picture of how these things happen in real life.

Even this is confusing as it seems Celia's farm is close to the village and if Ray was living with her it seems strange he had never been seen in the village before. I thought it was Robert alone who sold the plants to Ray. That is how he got the money to buy the land, I do not recall SuperMack having any money.

yes robert stole and sold but it was mack who contacted ray to buy as he knew him and now no contact or scenes , no one warning Laurel April or Dylan to stay away from ray

Celia renting the farm must have past me by. But I think this is becoming a common fault in modern Soap's. In the old days of Jack, Joe and Annie new characters were introduced with more of a fanfare and some gossiping in the pub. Nowadays they can slip in almost unnoticed with merely a short sentence of mention, or even worse, off camera. Turn away and you miss it, and are confused for quite a long time after.

celias introduction was her dog biting paddy so why bear stayed with her is surprising, yes she wanted to rent land from moira too but they are partners now yet dylan broke into the farm for ray

But I do not think it was mentioned in the dog biting scene that she was new to the area or had just moved into the farm. So as far as I remember she was just some mystery woman.

Its a crying shame that they have moved so far from the good old days of Jack, Joe, Annie, Amos, and the like, to a place somewhere more in keeping with Victor Meldrew's "I don't believe it".

was she introduced to moira as new to the neighbouring farm when trying to rent her land, celia even has her own vet not emmerdale vets either

The fact some of us are not sure exactly how she was introduced, shows the difference in how new characters used to be introduced. In the past questions would have asked, were are you from, where were before you came here, etc. Now it is a few words which can be easily missed, especially as the programme does not seem to hold our attention like it used to do. At least it does not hold mine

Even though Lewis is autistic his stress level seems to have risen very fast. Is this the same Lewis who successfully grew cannabis in his loft and managed to fit an automatic CCTV warning system? Not at all stressful. Another case I think of a character changing to fit the story.

Bear is not a fool, he is not an illegal immigrant, he knows Moira, and he knows people who work for her. He knows that they are paid wages, not just given food and a filthy shed to sleep in, and they are free to leave the farm, if they wish to. Yet we are expected to believe that he thinks Ray is a good guy who is looking after him.

Yes it does seem that credibility has been stretched much to far.

They are not given the wages though, are they.. the wages are being kept safe, the same as any id...bear seems to be suffering from some kind of mental breakdown, he is not thinking clearly. We do not know how all of a sudden there are all these other workers there now, where they have come from.. unless I missed a bit.. but they are scared of Joe and will do extra work even when they are exhausted..

If this is what they are trying to get across I think they are failing, unless of course I am too thick to see it. The bit where we were told Ray is keeping their wages safe. Was this one of those times when it was explained in a few words, blink and you missed it? I do not underestand the bit about "the same as any id". What is an "id" I don't think you missed anything about where the other workers came from, I don't think it was explained, whether they were new or they were always there. I also seem to have missed the bit about them being afraid of Joe, is he the "Big Boss" of the whole gang? As for Bear I really do not know what we are meant think, to me he does not seen to be confused or having a mental breakdown, but if he isn't why does he stay there, why did he not go to fetch medicine for Anya, or fetch Liam. If they had used a less physical imposing character here it would have been far more believable. Bear is too big to bullied like this.
I think they are trying to cover too much in this one story, modern slavery, prostitution and drug dealers. It is a bit much for two people, three counting Joe, to be involved in. Even a large Organized Crime Group would have a hard time keeping track of all this. They could have done a much better believable job if they had just concentrated on one aspect of it. Either drug dealing or modern slavery, but then they would not have been able to involve April and Bear.

Of course it does, I must have had a brain freeze there. Probably true that I am too thick to understand this plot.

How did Ray find Anya and the money from Caleb?
I do not think this has been made clear, it has all been a bit vague. Sse came to this country illegally to work, and sent money back home, but then found out that she was being forced into prostitution to payback her debt to the traffickers. She escaped and found her way into Caleb's van, he thought she had entered the country in the van and did not want to help her. I am not sure who she escaped from whether it from Ray and Celia or the people who brought her to this country. In fact I am not sure if it was Ray and Celia who actually brought her to this country, or if bought her from traffickers, or were lucky and just found her wandering about with the money Caleb gave her. There may be those who understand her journey but I am not one of these people.

Well let's hope Moira does not visit that field until the soil has settled and the grass has regrown.

Why are the Dingles claiming to be broke? Are they not all working?
It is an unwritten, or maybe even written, law of Saops that characters and businesses alternate between being flush and skint. Especially pubs which are giving free drinks away one minute, and putting on pub quizes, Karaoke and special events to bring in the punters, and make more money, the next. For the Dingles it is simply their turn.

Are those pills that Bear is taking making him confused? But not confused enough to know that he wants to see Paddy. The way Ray is talking makes it seem that Bear does not know where the farm is located. It must be within walking distance of the village so Bear would not need his wages to get there. I would have thought that after the dog incident Celia would know that Bear is Paddy's father, so a good chance that Ray would too. Even Bear must realize they are living in a pretty uncomfortable environment and want to get back to somewhere warmer and with better food.

We saw an aerial few a while ago, which showed Celia's workers shifting turkey feed, and a couple of fields away we saw Moira and Paddy tending some sheep. So it would certainly be within walking distance away.

After last night's episode of "Carry on Samurai" let's hope that is the last we see of Kev.
Liam said Robert had lost a lot of blood, but he ended up with only a plaster on his arm, I've had worse injuries opening a can of beans. The one thing we learned was that Kev knows nothing about martial arts and certainly does not know how to use a japanese sword.
The props department must be on a limited budget if they could afford a katana, a proper samurai sword, instead having to make do with a short sword, a wakizashi, known as the companion sword, and never held two handed.
This part of the episode was definitely played for laughs.

And, how does someone on parole manage to get hold of a gun and then a sword? Does he have an arsenal stashed somewhere?

One thing we do know is that Soap's cannot film realistic fight scenes. I suppose we were meant to think Robert was too badly injured, though he seemed fine the next day and Liam just seemed too scared. Yes he stole the sword from the pawn shop, and it is easy for a criminal to get a gun as long as they have the money to pay for it.
I don't imagine Kev really has told his probation officer he is moving, so he must be on the run.

I still do not completely buy into Bear's situation. When he said to Dylan "my family is here" unlike the other workers Bear was not fleeing from a war zone or a place where they might have been persecuted. He knows what a "normal" comfortable life is like, so I find it hard to believe he could think his current situation is good. He has seen what happened to Anya and what Mick did to Robbie, hardly what you would call "happy family life. For me having to live in a cold drafty shed would be enough to get me wanting to move out.
When Eve saw Bear in the field, there was someone driving the van, who looked like he was an overseer or ganger, where is this person we have never seen him since, surely he would be doing the job Celia is offering to Dylan.

And once Moira learns about Celia, I could see she and Cain being quite the force to be reckoned with. And even if Dylan doesn't wake up right away (I'm rooting for the little tyke), I'm hoping that they realize that Eve may have been right.

Surely after all that has now happened, there is enough people who now know about Celia and Ray, for them all to get together and demand police action and protection. With Paddy going to see Dylan in hospital will he wake up just enough to tell Paddy about seeing Bear?

Sure Dylan will be fine and back at work in 2 weeks time with not a scratch to be seen...

The problem here, and with Soap's in general, is that in trying to pack in maximum drama, they overdo it and pack in too much. Too much, so that it becomes unbelievable. When I watch good quality, we'll written drama, I engage with it, knowing that although I am watching fiction, I believe that this something that could happen in real life. With Soap's and this story in particular I think they go just too far. I know about drug dealing and county lines, people trafficing, modern day slavery, child prostitution, but just find it hard to believe these attempts to tell the stories have any essence of truth in them. I think it would have been better if they had tackled the drug dealing and slavery as separate stories, with different criminal characters not at the same time.

After Dawn talked to Joe about her background, I expected to see scenes where she figured out what was going on with April and talked to her or even helped her by relating her own experiences. However, I suppose I expected too much. Dawn is too narcissistic and has enough of her own issues without seeing what's going on with April.
Could not log-in all day yesterday or this morning.
When Eve saw Bear in the field, there was someone driving the van, who looked like he was an overseer or ganger, where is this person we have never seen him since, surely he would be doing the job Celia is offering to Dylan.
bear was angry before he left the village, do we know why, he was fighting with paddy over nothing, we had april run away and act out too over nothing , both coming from families and homes
how did ray know they went to the police station

I would love for Moira to learn more about what Celia is doing and remember her confession about Holly and then go on full Rambo on Celia. I would bet on Moira over Celia any day. While Marlon and Rhona are leading with their mouths, I hope that Moira is the force to be reckoned with. Even Cain shakes when Moira gets that way.

Then we might find out why I Celia carries that big stick, all she has done with it so far is pose with it resting over her shoulder.

It is for show, no practical reason .. she is the big stick in the drug and slavery world :p

The stick, known as a thumb stick does have a practical purpose, it can be used as a walking aid, even used to hold gates open. If I was a "Big Stick" in the drug and slavery world, the last thing in the world I would want to do is draw attention to myself. With Celia the hat, the boots and the stick all say "look at me", compare Celia's appearance to Moira's. The real "Big Sticks" would not be involved in the day to day running of the business, they would only be know to the next link in the chain, they certaiin would not be dealing with street level operators like April and Dylan.
Yes!!! The end is nigh!!! :ninja:

When Ray blocked Rhona's car, the young thug with him, pulled his scarf up to cover his face, but when they drove away his face was uncovered again. Was this drama?
