Ex-conscript Jim Osgood (Joel Beckett) is now a PE teacher at Ashfordly School but has retained his links with the Territorial Army and is respected by Sergeant Miller (John Duttine) for his no-nonsense drill sergeant style with cadets and students alike. When he learns of new teacher Wendy Kelshaw’s (Paula Lane) struggle with student troublemaker Gary Bell (Joel Cheetham), he takes it upon himself to teach Gary a lesson, one which puts the boy in hospital. Disturbed by Osgood’s punishment of his best friend, Paul (Samuel Peter Holland) reports Osgood to Carol (Lisa Kay), however she’s concerned when Mason (Joe McFadden) informs her it’s a matter for the school to deal with internally.
Meanwhile, after ridding Wendy of a troublesome student, Osgood believes she owes him a date. She reluctantly joins him for a drink in the pub but when he tries to take things a step further in the car on the way home and Wendy declines, he takes his reward by force. A distraught Wendy confides in Carol, but is reluctant to make a formal complaint to the police for fear of causing more trouble. Will Osgood get his comeuppance?
Meanwhile, Gary is determined to get his revenge on Osgood and when his office is broken into and his gun goes missing, both he and Wendy realise there can be just one suspect. Mason is on the case but will he get to Gary in time to avert tragedy?
