'Quantum of Solace' star Gemma Arterton is to play the role of Cathy in a new screen version of Emily Bronte's 'Wuthering Heights'.

The Hollywood Reporter says that 'Gossip Girl' star Ed Westwick will play Heathcliff.

Natalie Portman and German-born and Kerry-raised actor Michael Fassbender had been due to play the lead roles.

Peter Webber ('Girl with a Pearl Earring') will direct the film, replacing John Maybury ('The Edge of Love', 'The Jacket') behind the lens.

One of my all time fav books and I can only find one movie that is good (one with David Niven in it) on this

I think Gemma will make an excellent Cathy but we need a more mature actor to play Heathcliff some like David Morrissey. Shiv is right Wuthering Heights was one of my favourite books in English at school and no-one has topped Laurence Olivier performance of Heathcliff in the 1939 classic film.
