Elle is at war with her conscience as she suspects her father may have been involved in Jill Ramsay’s hit and run accident. When Paul’s alibi for his whereabouts at the time proves false, Elle confronts him and Paul admits he was with Jill at the time of the accident but fled the scene after calling an ambulance. His inability to explain himself leaves Elle fearing her father is behind the tragedy. Lucas urges her to go to the police with what she knows but Elle agonises over informing on her own father. But when Jill Ramsay dies leaving three children alone, Elle can no longer hold her tongue. Aware she will shatter her family’s hard won happiness, she confronts Paul, announcing that she will tell the police all she knows. Has Elle condemned her own father to a life in gaol?

Paul is arrested and despite Toadie’s best efforts to defend his client, Paul’s guilty conscience is piqued by the questioning and his unsettling flashbacks. He blames himself for Jill’s death, and confesses this to the police, who charge him. Is Paul going to prison? Lou returns from his travels only to walk straight into the media scrum surrounding Paul and winds up getting into a fight with an over-zealous photographer. Welcome home Lou!

Karl comes into contact with Jill’s grieving children at the hospital and becomes concerned for their welfare. Alerting Susan to their plight, she goes to investigate. Is all as it seems in the Ramsay household?
Friday 22nd May
Steph and Greg argue over whether or not Steph’s tactile friendships with men, especially Lucas, are appropriate. Steph seeks a friendly ear from Toadie but he pushes Steph to sort out her problems for herself. When Greg tries to make Steph understand the jealousy he feels, Steph realises that she’s not prepared to change in order to save her relationship.
