Once in Australia, Joe (Joe McFadden) and Rachel (Clare Wille) leave Carol (Lisa Kay) in Brisbane and head to Mooriloobah to try and trace Rosie’s whereabouts.
Meanwhile, determined to find her brother, Carol visits a monastery where hundreds of English orphans were sent after the war. They’ve managed to locate some records on her brother but don’t know what happened to him after the age of 16. Is Carol ever going to track down her brother?
In Mooriloobah, Joe and Rachel introduce themselves to Sergeant Flaherty (Billie Brown) and when they learn that Rosie was booked out on flight from Perth but never boarded they realise something is definitely amiss. Their lines of enquiry lead them to learn that Rosie and Mick (Blair McDonough) had a volatile and sometimes violent relationship - this information is related back to Aidensfield police and Mick is brought in for questioning. He insists he knows nothing about Rosie’s whereabouts. Is he telling the truth?
After placing a notice, Carol receives a call from someone claiming to know her brother. whilst Carol goes out to meet him, he breaks into her room and robs her. Consequently, she goes to join Rachel and Joe in Mooriloobah, but Rachel makes it very clear she’s interrupting their investigation. Feeling unwelcome and foolish, Carol goes off for a swim in the sea. Meanwhile, Joe and Rachel learn that another girl, young and blonde like Rosie also went missing some years ago. Are the two cases linked?
At the beach, Carol is rescued from a potentially fatal jellyfish attack by an aboriginal called Nev (Luke Carroll). He suggests a safer place to swim nearby, and offers to drive her there, but when Joe realises the sea is out of bounds he panics when Carol is gone longer than expected. Meanwhile, a man has arrived in Mooriloobah looking for Carol – is it her long lost brother?
